JOYNTON AVENUE Elevation - Nestled under the established trees along the facade are a series of pool programs set under a projecting thin profile roof: a two-storey cafe + kiosk, swimming pool changerooms and a creche. Public stairs bisect the facade and provide access to the public roofscape above. The main entrance is to the left, aligned diagonally across both Joynton and Zetland avenues. JOYNTON AVE ELEVATION 1:250 NORTH WESTERN FACADE

ZETLAND AVENUE Elevation - Brick chimneys reference Zetland and Green Square’s industrial past while also serving as the exhausts and air-intake for the plant and cogen/trigen facilities beneath. Also expressed is the public access to the first floor, via a generous terrace and ramp. ZETLAND AVE ELEVATION 1:250 NORTH EASTERN FACADE

POOL HALL - The pool hall is separated from the rest of the gym brief to allow for the design of an elegant, efficient timber structure, with minimal internal structural fittings. Which has the benefit of minimising internal corrosion and improving internal amenity. This also allows the different servicing and maintence requirements of the pool take precedence over a single architectural identity. FILTRATION PLANT EQUIPMENT, SERVES • • • •

1 North ramp, running track to level 1 with fitness breakout spaces and seating to experience the feeling of being elevated above the tree lined Joynton avenue.

6 Activity rooftop to the Gym block - with basketball halfcourts, table tennis overlooking the Zetland / Joynton avenue corner.

11 Fitness pads are dotted around the walking and running tracks, allowing for a variety of run-excercise activities for an increasingly dense urban environment.

16 Boisterous activities like the basketball half courts are located towards the centre of the site, away from quieter residential zones.

2 Bleacher spectator seating to swimming pool with Gymea Lily planter boxes.

7 Shaded bleacher spectator seating to the multi-purpose sports field. A 100m sprint track separates the seating from the field.

12 Access to the informal lawn, the largest cell on the site. The turf surface contrasts with the adjacent playing field.

17 A variety of quiet spaces to relax and sit are located within cells. Pergolas provide shading and and a variety of contrasts within a clearly structured habitat.

3 Kids adventure playground with slides, balancing logs and large slides for rapid descent with in ground trampolines.

8 Swings on mounds arc skyward from a three tiered mound, and provide a dramatic vertical scale to play.

13 Graded intensities of activities dot the site, with quieter activities like table tennis, chess and fussball located closer to residential areas to the south.

18 A small kiosk and cafe sits on the upper level terrace, with views overlooking the pool grounds and Joynton avenue. Internal stair access is provided to the cafe below.

4 Bleacher spectator seating continues indoor for program pool with mesh shading to glazing panels for shading and privacy towards Rose Valley way.

9 Steep, short, unenclosed water slides allow users to race each other, while providing clear lines of sight for supervision in the pool hall.

14 Cellular splash pads are provided on the outdoor pool concourse for a low-supervision wet activity for children.

19 Low zones of play intensity, are located closer to proposed residential developments. Passive water play, boulders and low planting are found towards George Julius Avenue.

5 Cellular landscaping, allowing for temporary or seasonal planting arrangements. A sunflower bed here is shown to grow about the 1m hedge across the park.

10 Hedges enclose Perennial and Canola field planting cells in the north west and can be changed seasonally.

15 Rain gardens with Meleluca trees - act as a barrier between street, playgrounds and other landscaped gardens.

20 Joynton avenue frontage provides a number of smaller scaled spaces for waiting and gathering, bicycle parking and outdoor cafe seating.

8/10 Each slice shown here occupies a 20 x 20m space within the site.

GUNYAMA PARK - The parkland is conceptualized as a collection of cellular landscapes, nested within the broader park precinct, providing an armature for many different types of urban interactions while anticipating park maintenance requirements and allowing for the seasonal or periodic renewal of planter beds, hedges and uses. PARK-SIDE ELEVATION 1:250 SOUTH EASTERN FACADE

9/10

GUNYAMA PARK - The cellular landscape schema allows large and small feature cells to support a wide variety of activity types and intensities. Trees are individually celebrated as points of intensity within the planted heath layer. The walking track winds in and out of the park and provides access to various gardens, play areas, fields, fitness pods, changerooms, kiosks and the like. SITE-SECTION 1:250
