To whom it may concern,
My name is Francisco José Gago de São Vicente, I am thirty-five years old, and have five years of experience working in the architecture industry. I recently came to live in Portugal, my home country, after living most of my life near San Francisco, California. English is my native language, due to the fact that I moved to the United States when I was just a few years old, but my family has always communicated in Portuguese so I am fluent in both languages. I'm interested in a new job to be an essential member of a team, integrate and support myself here in Portugal.
I earned a degree in architecture and sustainable design from the University of California at Berkeley in 2011. Since completing my studies I have worked in three studios in the San Francisco area; I use, among other drawing programs, AutoCAD, Sketchup and Revit. I have strong graphic design skills, identifying and promoting important data to produce detailed construction documents. I am proficient in design programs such as Adobe and other programs such as those from Microsoft and Google. I have developed a good understanding about technology since I was young when I became motivated to solve issues I had with my computer and enjoyed disassembling/assembling small machines.
As sustainability has been very important to me since my time at my university, I took several courses in energy efficiency, permaculture, and bioarchitecture to investigate practical, environmentally sustainable design and construction methods. At my university I was taught how to use carpentry and welding tools and I used these skills to carry out repairs and build projects of varying complexity during my courses and during various volunteering experiences through the workaway.com platform.
I greatly value organization, efficiency, and pleasant spaces that contribute to the mental health of the people who inhabit them. I have the ability to see the environment and choose the best option to deal with a matter in the most effective way. I work comfortably in fast-paced environments, both in the architecture and service industries, always focusing on objectives and deadlines to control quality and maximize efficiency. I am motivated to set, achieve and exceed goals through individual strategies or effective communication with colleagues and employees. I work focused on a sustainable flow, prioritizing efficient organization and actively seeking productivity. I have experience managing teams, always considering other perspectives, exercising common sense and discretion to seek consensus, holistic and positive results. In this role I gained experience in conflict resolution, always seeking to maintain positivity regardless of the circumstances.
I am very interested in learning and very confident that I will do a good job. I am someone who works well in a team, or individually, always seeking a healthy balance between the interests of my employer and our clients. I hope we can talk more about this opportunity so I can show my value to your company.
Sincerely,
Francisco Gago de São Vicente
