Tuition and Other Expenses
Notifying Candidates
• The comprehensive fee for the 2013-14 school year is $47,850. This includes tuition, room and board, basic health center expenses, and the cost of most school-sponsored academic, athletic, and recreational activities. The fee for the 2014-15 school year is determined in January of 2014. • A contingency deposit of $600 is required of all new students. This amount is refunded or credited when a student graduates or leaves Episcopal. • The annual technology fee of $250 covers the availability of high-speed transmission lines in classrooms, the computer lab, and the dormitory rooms. • The laptop program at Episcopal requires all entering students to purchase a laptop computer through our designated vendor. Laptops are ordered online between May and August and are delivered directly to EHS, where they are configured and distributed during new student orientation. The cost is approximately $2,000. • Textbooks and academic materials are approximately $700 annually. • Personal expenses associated with attending Episcopal vary from student to student. For further information, please contact the Admissions Office.
On March 10, we communicate admissions decisions to students who completed their applications by the Jan. 15 deadline. Applications completed after the Jan. 15 deadline will be considered on a “rolling basis” as space allows.
Revisit Opportunities Accepted students have the opportunity to return to campus for one of two revisit days in the spring. The revisit days will provide students with the opportunity to attend classes, meet with faculty, and experience EHS again prior to making their enrollment decision. These revisit days also include sessions for parents. Invitations for the Accepted Student Revisit Days will be mailed with letters of acceptance on March 10. Families are encouraged to call promptly after receipt of the invitation to sign up for these events.

Visiting EHS A personal interview is a required part of the application process and a great opportunity for you to learn more about EHS. To arrange a campus tour and interview, we encourage you to call the Admissions Office to schedule your appointment. Visits are typically scheduled for Monday through Friday between 8:50 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Families should plan to spend approximately two hours on campus participating in a student-guided tour of the campus and an interview with an admissions officer. During the interview, students will have the opportunity to share information
about their current school, their academic and extracurricular interests, and their desire to attend boarding school. While visiting, students are also welcome to observe a class, meet with teachers or coaches, attend chapel and lunch, or watch an athletic or performing arts practice. Please let us know of your requests when scheduling your appointment. For the interview, we suggest students dress in classroom attire (for boys, an oxford shirt with a tie; and for girls, pants or a skirt with a blouse or sweater). In addition to the above appointment times, we offer selected Saturday interview dates. Please check our website for details. Please be aware that there are no academic classes on Saturdays.
Open House Event Each fall, Episcopal hosts an Open House for all inquiring students and parents. Come join us as we explore life at the only coeducational, all-residential, boarding school located in a metropolitan area. Our Headmaster and selected faculty will share their insights into the unique aspects of Episcopal’s educational program. Attendees will hear from a handful of students and parents about boarding school life and may participate in a student-guided tour. The Fall 2013 Open House will take place on Oct. 26. Check our website for more details and to register.
Events Near You Each fall, EHS admissions representatives visit cities across America and a few international locations. Please visit our website for a complete list of cities and countries we will visit during the 2013-14 school year.
Required Standardized Tests If you are applying for 9th or 10th grade, you’ll need to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) in November, December, or January. Scores received from the February SSAT test date will be accepted provided all other application requirements are met by the Jan. 15 deadline. Enter our code – 3022 – on your SSAT online registration, and your scores will be
sent directly to EHS. Visit www.ssat.org for details. While the Admissions Office prefers the SSAT for 9th and 10th grade applicants, the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is also accepted. Applicants for the 11th grade may submit their PSAT or SAT scores in lieu of SSAT or ISEE scores. International students for whom English is a second language must also take the TOEFL.
Submitting an Application You may apply online (our preferred method) or download and complete any of the application forms by visiting the admissions section of the EHS website at www.episcopalhighschool.org. The online application forms (and PDF versions) include the following: Part A – General Information (to be completed by the student or parent); Part B – Student Profile (to be completed by the student); Part C – Parent Questionnaire; and Part D – Health and Medical Information (both to be completed by a parent/guardian). Families submitting an application online will be required to set up an account using their email address and a password and will have the ability to save their work and return to it as many times as they want before submitting. Families may pay the $60 application fee online with a credit card or elect to send in a check. If you do not have access to the Internet or prefer to complete the application by hand, please contact us to request a printed set of application forms be mailed to you. Episcopal accepts the Standard Application Online (SAO) for admission to independent boarding and day schools, which may be completed online through the SSAT website (www.ssat.org), or the Gateway to Prep Schools online application (www.gatewaytoprepschools.com).
