Starting Off... Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak met at a club meeting in 1975. They both dreamed of creating a computer that everyone could use. By 1976, they formed their own computer company they named “Apple.” They later built their first computer they named the Apple. It could not remember information and it didn’t have a keyboard but it could calculate accurately. This was the start to Apple.
7
Apple II In 1977 they created the Apple II which was the first Apple computer to have a color screen and floppy disk which was new at that time. It was a huge success and started the personal computer revolution. The next Apple computer, the Apple III was a failure.
8
The Lisa In 1982 Apple designed the Lisa which was named after Steve Job’s daughter. It was the first personal computer to have a graphic user interface and mouse, but it did not sell well because of it’s high price.
9
Macintosh Macintosh was Apple’s next computer which was a huge hit and was created in 1984. With a graphic user interface and mouse, just like the Lisa, any one could operate it. A graphic user interface, using icons instead of commands, made it easy to use. This reinvented the personal computer and soon other companies, such as Microsoft, also introduced personal computers running a graphic user interface and mouse. The Macintosh caused the desktop publishing revolution for the graphic arts and publishing industries.

What’s NeXT? By the mid 1980’s Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak both left Apple because they didn’t get along with the new CEO. Steve Jobs started a new company called “NeXT” using lots of money earned from Apple, but it still failed. Then Jobs bought Pixar from George Lucas (the director of Star Wars)

The Mac Comeback!
12
While Steve Jobs was away, Apple struggled to come up with ideas and almost went bankrupt. The CEO left and Apple purchased NeXT. Steve Jobs is appointed interim chief executive officer. Under his direction, Apple introduced a brand new operating system, several computers such as the iMac, a portable music player called the iPod, and the iTunes Music Store. (These all were released in 1999.) These all were huge hits which made Apple profitable, once again. In 2007 Apple introduced the iPhone which has revolutionized the mobile phone market. The iPhone is the most popular cell phone to date.

Apple’s Revolution
19
The Birth Of The Personal Computer Apple created the first personal computers. Before Apple came along, computers were big, bulky, and large and only big companies used them. They were complex and very hard to use. This all changed when Apple released the Apple II in 1977. Now we use computers in our everyday use.
20
the Macintosh In 1984 Apple reinvented the personal computer with the creation of the Macintosh.

The Desktop Publishing Revolution
22
During the mid 1980’s the desktop publishing revolution was born with the help of the Macintosh computer, Aldus Page Maker, and the laser printer. This allowed graphic designers to easily create magazines, newspapers, brochures, flyers, and other printed materials. It is greatly reduced production time and costs. The desktop publishing revolution created many new small advertising and graphic design companies.
Apple Plays To A Different Tune In 1999 Apple forever changed the world with the introduction of the iPod. This small music player stored thousands of songs without the need of a cassette tape. Using the iTunes Music Store, people can purchase songs and download them to their iPod. The iTunes Music Store sells more music than an other store in the world.

Apple Reinvents The Phone In 2007 Apple changed the mobile phone industry with the creation of the iPhone. This new touch screen phone features an easy to use graphical user interface hat run thousands of applications. These “apps” do anything from games to business tools. The iPhone is also an excellent device for sending e-mails and surfing the web. The phone also acts as a music player like the iPod. Apple’s iPhone is one of the best selling Mobile Phones today. 24
