THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS By Rhonda Ferebee Hammond
Have you ever walked down the road and faced a sign that reminding you of a time in your life when things were a mess? Almost forgetting that it was part of your story? Yes, that is what happened to me when I looked up and saw a sign that said
“ARE YOU BATTLING WITH DEPRESSION?”
It was enormous with a bulky phone number, and as I rode in my van I smiled, because I remembered when It was hard to smile.
As my fingers tell this story tapping the keys on my keyboard, I am still surprised myself by the transformation in my heart that once was. It now seems almost non-existent. Vividly I went back to remembering many things that appeared in my life without my signature of approval. It was March 1990 when talking to the love of my life, now one of my best friends I stopped and said “I think I am pregnant, mommy said “the rabbit died and that meant someone was pregnant” old wive’s tails.

THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS continued… We laughed, and I walked to catch the bus home. I remembered the feeling that I would not see him again, but kept it quiet and pushed it off as just one of my random thoughts. A few days later on a Thursday, I hear a knock on my door. It was Keith’s two best friends to deliver a message to me. I stood there in a blue dress, looking at their mouths move, but did not believe their words “Keith was shot, and transported by helicopter to the hospital.” Seventeen years old on my way to the hospital shaking with tears, pondering the events and asking God not to take him, “ God he is supposed to be my husband” I knew that I would marry him and he would take me and my sister away from the chaos that surrounded us in our home. Reflecting back on it all, I was devastated and how I managed to get to the hospital still eludes my memory. Even though my mother was battling her own inner struggles with life, she raised us to know that our faith would carry us through any situation. So up the elevator I went and grasped the arms of the hospital bed and there rose up a prayer in my spirit because this event was more than I imagined. At least three weeks later I found out that I was carrying my now 21 year old daughter and because of that conversation we had that day while walking up the steps of the bus he tells me” Rhonda the very thought that you were carrying my daughter is what kept me alive.”
“I stood there in a blue dress, looking at their mouths move, but did not believe their words. Keith was shot…” With all that was in me I tried to move forward. However, so many life experiences happened from teenage pregnancy, feeling worthless, homelessness, bad relationships, and a mother on drugs. It all seemed just too much and then months after having my second child I lost my mother in a horrible accident. One day on the highway I asked God “Why am I here?” I was prepared to die, so I thought and told my sister to take care of my kids that I had enough with this life and wanted to just give up. I felt I had nothing to life for; the burden of life was so hard on me, and the hopelessness of all I had gone through was unbearable. I could not see any reason for getting up, and when I came home from work, I began to retreat to my room and in quietness just to weep.
And then one day my life was interrupted by Gods plan and He sent someone that could identify with what I was going through, to help me and she never said a word, but one day she sent an invitation to my sister and me and invited us to her church. While getting dressed, I was prompted to go to church. “Today we are going to take her up on her invitation” I will never forget that day, the start of the cleanup process, acceptance of a problem, acknowledgement of issues, consistent healing, facing fears, and a renewed spirit and realizing that there actually is something to live for; it was the beginning of living life ON PURPOSE. God had so much for me and I had no idea what was waiting for me with a fresh perspective and such a saturation of love that I had not felt before. All I can tell you is that I continued to seek God and his will for my life and with every step the walls began to fall down. When I looked up I wasn’t the same person and day by day those things that I thought were ugly began to dissipate, literally my name was being changed.
And because of His unwavering love for us we always look to our life verse Jer. 29.11 where it simply says “I know the plans I have for you”. I am reminded of a message we received yesterday that states, all we have gone through and will go through IT WAS NECESSARY for Gods perfect plan. His countless blessings continue to shower us and today we look up and like I said I almost forgot that all those things are a part of my story because the Joy of the Lord is our strength. I want to encourage you in this overcoming October that God’s love is abounding and all that you are going through is necessary, but know that you will come out victorious ON PURPOSE.

Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. – 1 Corinthians 7:17a ESV Through ministering to women I frequently hear “I must not be ready for marriage or else I would be married.” That may be true, but usually that statement is rooted in feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. This thinking can create the idea that singleness means something is wrong with them and God is waiting for them to get their act together. The truth is singleness is a gift from God, not a curse for not being “marriage material”. In her book Let me be a Woman Elisabeth Elliot writes:
“But now having spent more than 41 years single, I have learned that it is indeed a gift. Not one I would choose. Not one many women would choose. But we do not choose gifts, remember? We are given them by a divine Giver who knows the end from the beginning, and wants above all else to give us the gift of Himself. It is within the sphere of the circumstances He chooses for us – single, married, widowed – that we receive Him” (Elliot 25). It is not easy, but whether single for a season or a lifetime God will grant you the grace to answer the call, that you may receive the ultimate gift of Himself. Dear Heavenly Father, please bless all my single sisters in Christ. Lead them all to You. To your peace, fullness, and love. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen. Today I want to talk about who you turn to during difficult times. What I've noticed is some turn to friends and family while others bottle it up inside. Many of us overlook God and find ourselves in a more difficult situation. It is important to realize that not everyone in your life is trustworthy nor is everyone out to get you. Sometimes the best thing to do is take it to God and pray on it, meaning fully give it over and wait for His direction. This is a hard thing for us to do, to relinquish control. This week get out of yourself and rely first on God. Look at the times you've gotten in His way and determine how to change that. The scripture is: Psalm 27 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. 7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice:have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

9 Hide not thy face far from me put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. 11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

Sometimes the best thing to do is wait. In your waiting stay surrounded by spiritual people and stay connected to God. He will give you the guidance you need and you will know it is from Him by the peace it has over you. This week stop trying to fix things yourself and let Him do it. The scripture is Proverbs 8:32-36:
This week I want to talk about the importance of gaining peace once God has given you the direction. There are times when we fight against God's direction, which further hinders our progress in life. It makes no sense to ask God to help you, but reject that guidance because it's not what you thought it would be. It is important that when you begin asking God to bless you that you prepare yourself for the blessing.
32 "Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my blessed ways. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it.
This week enjoy the journey that you are on with God and realize that he ultimately will guide you in the direction that is best for you. Ask yourself if you are truly at peace or are you fighting against what God is calling you to do. You may be surpised at how you are reacting.
34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
2 Peter 1:1-11
35 For those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD. 36 But those who fail to find me harm themselves; harm themselves; all who hate me love death." Luv ya, Nichelle
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
www.Patsexclusivegifts.com
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to selfcontrol, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Love ya, Nichelle Wall

3 Ways to Recover from Professional Burnout By Michelle Nicole Rivera The growing pains that come from maturing into a successful professional are rarely talked about. Many people will say, “You’ve got to work long and hard if you want to be successful.” But very few will talk about how emotionally and mentally challenging it is to deal with being burned by cut-throat professionals; sabotaged by manipulative opportunists; abandoned by envious friends; or discouraged by failed ventures. If we’re not careful, we can find ourselves burned out – completely depleted of the passion we once had for our dreams. We’ve all been there at least once in our professional careers. The great news is that it’s possible to rejuvenate your spirit and reenergize your passion by developing healthy coping mechanisms. Are you feeling burned out from the constant professional battles you fight every day? Then you may want to consider one (or all) of these ideas to help you recharge:
1 Take a real vacation. Many busy people – myself included – are notorious for working while on vacation. Instead of releasing the stress of our hectic lives, we end up bringing it with us. Make a commitment to slow down and take a real vacation. Spend time building great memories with your family or reconnecting with that old hobby you got too busy to keep working on.
2 Distance yourself from “Emotional Vampires”. Make a list of all your close personal and professional connections. Then ask yourself, “Is this person an ‘Emotional Vampire’ or ‘Emotional Cheerleader’?” Emotional Vampires drain you of all your positive ambition and leave behind a poisonous reside of self-doubt and hopelessness. ->

2 continued.. While Emotional Cheerleaders may not always agree with your decisions, they are committed to cultivating and celebrating your professional growth. Jumpstart your confidence by surrounding yourself with positive people who passionately pursue their professional endeavors but also support you as you pursue yours.
3 Let go of some volunteer commitments. As taboo as it may be to
say, too much volunteering can be bad for your health. Most busy professionals find themselves volunteering in church groups, on corporate committees, or with non-profit organizations who don’t have the budget to afford full-time help. While it’s good to give back to our communities, we have to be sure not to give so much that we don’t have anything more to give our families or ourselves.

Is Jesus a myth? In other words, is there any credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth historically existed, or is the Christian version of Jesus a copy of pagan gods of other religions? Robert Price, author of Decontructing Jesus and a member of the controversial Jesus Seminar, has been an outspoken apologist for the mythical Jesus. In his words, “We will never know whether Jesus existed unless someone discovers his diary or skeleton. But this is not the whole story. Many lines of evidence beyond a personal journal or corpse are typically used to verify historical accounts. A look at these lines of historical and archaeological evidence reveals there is actually significant evidence for much of what is recorded concerning the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
First, we have 27 letters written during the lifetimes of Jesus’ closest followers that provide a wealth of information regarding the life, teachings, and miracles of Jesus. Of these, four are the Gospel accounts of His life. Two of these, Matthew and John, were written by men who were disciples of Jesus, while Mark was recorded by a man who served closely with the apostle Peter, according to early church history. The fourth Gospel writer, Luke, claims to have written his gospel as the result of compiling the evidence from his time among eyewitnesses and other written records and was published most likely in the 60s AD, approximately 30 years from the time of the actual events. His prologue in Luke 1:1-4 reads: Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.
Inspire Your Spirit| GotQuestions.org With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught (emphasis added).
• Jesus lived during the time of Tiberius and Caesar. • He lived a virtuous life. • He was a wonder-worker.
Many, however, have objected that the New Testament accounts are biased or inaccurate. Yet the external evidence shows that approximately 5,800 handwritten Greek manuscripts exist (Greek was the original language of the New Testament), offering significantly more early copies than any other ancient work. In comparison, The Iliad by Homer, one of the greatest works of ancient literature, stands in second place with just 643 ancient manuscripts. In addition, there is a high degree of accuracy among these thousands of early manuscripts. Researchers note that as much as 99.5% of the New Testament is accurately preserved. The next question to consider is whether this early information from the New Testament is accurate. A wide variety of secular sources confirm many details mentioned in the New Testament. These writers include Josephus, Tacitus, Lucian, Thallus, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, and the Jewish Talmud, among others. The late New Testament scholar F.F. Bruce notes the following summary of events verified in extra-biblical documents in his work Jesus & Jewish Origins Outside the New Testament:
• He had a brother named James. • He was acclaimed to be the Messiah. • He was crucified under Pontius Pilate. • An eclipse and earthquake occurred when He died. • He was crucified on the eve of the Jewish Passover. • His disciples believed He rose from the dead. • His disciples were willing to die for their belief. • Christianity spread rapidly as far as Rome. • His disciples denied the Roman gods and worshiped Jesus as God.
In fact, New Testament scholar Gary Habermas notes, “Altogether, there are even about a dozen and a half non-Christian sources that mention Jesus within the first 150 years after his death.” A full list and discussion of these sources are available in his book The Historical Jesus. Archaeology provides even additional strength regarding the New Testament’s accuracy. As noted in When Skeptics Ask by Norman Geisler and Ronald Brooks, many inscriptions and locations from the Gospel accounts have been discovered, including references to Pilate, the man who condemned Jesus to death; Bethlehem, the city of Jesus’ birth; Nazareth, the city where Jesus was raised; and the home of Pilate in Jerusalem. But is there any way in which the information we have been given in the New Testament about Jesus is the result of pagan religious influences? Again, the accusation does not fit the facts. Two compelling reasons support this. To begin, the first pagan religion to include a resurrection account that we know of did not exist until the second century. As such, the pagan religious connections alleged to serve as the basis for the life and works of Jesus came after Jesus and the writing of the gospel accounts. Second, even if it could be proven that these pagan accounts existed before the earthly life of Jesus (and they cannot be proven), these similarities would not necessarily mean they were borrowed or copied. The only way this could be proven would be to provide examples of specific connections that show the New Testament writers used specific pagan religious records in their narratives of the life of Jesus, something that cannot be shown based on existing evidence. All of these historical facts make a strong case that the Jesus of the New Testament lived, came to popularity during the time of Herod, was put to death on a Roman cross under the authority of Pilate, and that His followers taught that Jesus was alive again, quickly resulting in the spread of Christianity across the Roman Empire. As for finding the corpse of Jesus, if the message of Scripture is true, then it would never be found to provide 100% DNA evidence because Jesus is alive, not dead. This is not a myth, but a miracle, and one that proves Jesus was the Messiah, the risen Son of God.
PIZZA ANYONE?
By Erica Latrice
Anyone that knows me is aware that pizza has been a staple food in my home for quite some time. In fact, I would say pizza is one of those rare meals that I could eat very often before ever getting tired of it. Recently I was really hungry and wanted some pizza. I was so hungry in fact that I thought “how nice would it be if I could just inhale the entire pizza at once.” I know that sounds a bit greedy but I really wanted to cut to the chase and not have to eat the pizza one slice at a time. What I learned from that experience was an amazing tool that I would like to share with you. I want you to think about this pizza concept because I believe that it holds a key that can help you succeed in practically any aspect of your life. In a previous message I shared with you about the Power of One. Well, this is taking the Power of One a step further. When you go to eat a pizza, typically it’s one step at a time, correct? To take this even further, more than likely we would eat the slice one bite at a time. If we have leftovers we store them and finish them off on another date. Before we know it the entire pizza is gone. Now imagine using that concept in your day to day life . If you were to think of your goals not so much as overwhelming burdens but as little slices that will soon allow your to do list to disappear like pizza I believe that you would get a lot accomplished. So, imagine your pizza to do list. If you were to write out your goals or tasks on pizza slices what would that look like?
Once you imagine or even write these things out lets look at what slice appeals to you the most to “eat” first. Get out a sheet of paper and draw your pizza circle. Divide it up in however many slices you believe correlates with the tasks that you need to get done. Write your goals on each slice and get started. As you complete a task remove the slice and continue that step until there is nothing left. Simple enough? I would love to hear how your pizza turns out so don’t forget to leave a comment, Home Executives!

What to do when God closes the door? By Erica Latrice ften times when a door closes in our lives we become susceptible to disappointment, anger, frustration and the list goes on. However, it is so important to remember that those closed doors are reasons to shout for joy! When you truly know and believe that your steps are ordered by God you must develop a serious level of trust. In those instances where you feel disappointed you must know that God has it all under control. Maybe you applied for a job that you did not get and are now confused about not getting the job? Well, God knows our future and there is a reason for it. Precious time is wasted when we complain about closed doors. It can allow us to overlook the open door because the focus is stuck on the one that has closed. Whether it is a chance for you to learn something or a way of protecting you have to celebrate those closed doors in your life because they are leading you to an open opportunity wth God!
