The 2016-2017 BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design Graduation Project AUGMENT, more than in previous years, challenges the notion of existing building structures which operate various scales. Derelict buildings are now revitalised through a consistent process of spatial experimentation to house social, cultural or commercial agendas. The results of the Project reveal an array of design proposals and encompass a variety of solutions for different users: from youthclubs, to spas, to co-working spaces and science museums. The intention throughout the process has been to discover, emphasise and expose the intimate idiosyncracies of each location in order to allow the new design to stand out from its original context.

The propsed concept was to redesign a converted factory building that was currently not being used into ‘Housing for the homeless’ and a support and training organisation. The redesign of the building was to design temporary a partments and offices on the ground floor that provide the extra support. The Organisation ‘Arch’ will be in partnership with ‘Helping the Homeless’ which are another charitable organisation that help the homeless. The redevelopment of the building needs to be welcoming and bright with the intention to make those be comfortable within building and environment.

A NEW INTERACTIVE MUSEUM WHAT THE NEW MUSEUM SHOULD DO? We want to explore ways that new technology can affect the museum experience for our staff and visitors, in our galleries, classrooms, and online. As digitally mediated experiences play an ever greater role in our lives, it’s important that museums—the great repositories of the world’s cultural expression—stay abreast of these developments. According to that logic the main aim of the project was to reorganize the interiors of St Albans ex Town Hall in order to relocate here the city’s museum and enlarge it with new spaces dedicated to learning and interaction with the visitors.

Ancient Roman Bath Spa Georgia Hayes
in East India Dock in London. The project enables the user to gain unique experience of what it is to be like in the Roman era, while relaxing socialising and exercising. “TO COLLABOARATE THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER AS
ANCIENT ROMAN BATH SPA.
The proposed site is located
atGEORGIA Poplar Baths, currently a leisure centre HAYES
INTRODUCTION. SITE: The proposed site is located at Poplar Baths, which is situated on East India Dock Road, Poplar, London. The site is currently functioned as a leisure centre, but the owner of the site feels that the site is not being used to its full potential and wants to find ways in which to help build the community in London. The area has a variety of ethnic cultures, surrounded by shopping and housing areas. The site is also next to All Saints DLR, with various bus stops, meaning there are several transport links to get to the place.
ONE, BASED ON ROMAN EXPERIENCE”
SITE PLAN.
AIM: The main aim of this project is to enable the user to gain unique experience of what it is to be like in the Roman era. As well as allowing the community to collaborate together as one, no matter what ethnicity they are. Functions of Ancient Roman Bath Spa will allow the user to relax, socialise, exercise and even gain knowlege through exhibitions.
CONCEPT. THE ROSE.
The Pentagram (Ritual Symbol)
PROGRAMME: The proposal for this site is a Roman style spa, which includes functions of a typical Roman Bath in the Roman era. The Romans used the baths for socialising, eating and educational purposes, as well as hygiene. The functions of this site will have the typical spa elements, but also functions where each indvidual can socialise and collaborate as a community. The main idea is to also give each user a unique experience by senses. The brand name of this is ‘Ancient Roman Bath Spa’.
East India Dock Road, Poplar, London, E14 0ED
Simple Geometry - the octagon.
The formation of the rose (Collaboration of the community) The Octagon Interlocking (Rose Structure)
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT. Following on from the interlocking geometrical structure (the rose) this specific shape is used throughout the building in many forms to create unique patterns. For example, it is used as the facade design wihin the entrance (Fig 1.) and the ceiling detail within some parts of the building (Fig 2) It is also used as a shape for the water fountain that is used as a unique feature for the pool (Fig 3/6)
The main idea is to use the concept shape to create patterns throughout the building, but also allowing the community to form together as one by applying functions to the concept itself.
Product Room - Geometrical Ceiling Detail. FIG 2.
Name:
Formation of the octagon shape, from the pentagram.
There is a clear link between the theme of a rose and the collaboration of the community, by how there are a variety of roses (representing culture and ethnicity) the single rose petals (the community) form together to make one single rose (formation of the community) which gives a pretty outlook. Roses also have symbolic meaning, relating back to the symbol of a ritual (the pentagram). Lastly, the fact that the romans used bathing to socialise and bring the community together also links to the concept.

MODERNIST PASSIVHAUS BARN Redcoats Barns is currently deteriorating within it’s current stage, it is apparent that major construction works are needed to preserve the history and heritage of the Barns. The Intension of the Client is to preserve the existing barns by respecting the history/covenant and deeds of the building but converting the barns into a modern home for himself and his family. The implication of Passivhaus results in the reduction of energy bills by up to 90% and based on the location of the Redcoats Barns and it’s footprint, there are tendencies for high energy bills if the Passivhaus concept is not Implemented.

Design Concept Phase 1
Intension of the Client is to preserve the existing barn but converting it into a modern design reduces energy bills by up to 90%.
The overall design of the proposed barn saw changes t the exterior which did not complement the heritage value of the barn, especially due to its listed compromised the integrity of the barn. The barn’s queen post truss roof stands as the fundamental value to this rich heritage barn, any structural deflections to the trussed means a breach of listed components. Overall, this initial design after revue posed more problems structural wise and design wise than first anticipated. Although the visuals complements a modern and inventive look, it played no relationship to the existing fabric. This meant a re-change of design was needed.

Get Involved The Jumbo Planetarium Is home too many attractions, with various activities combining education and fun. The immersive activities allow people of all ages to explore new worlds. The activities include an immersive cinema, virtual reality zones, arcade games and the main attraction the planetarium. The diversity in the attractions is what anchors the overall concept of the Jumbo Planetarium. Having various sized activity zones allows us to create some personal and intimate experiences as well as larger more communal social experiences. One example of this would be the immersive cinemas, the individual cinema head pods allows the visitor to immerse themselves into the activity whiles the acoustics block out all the outside noise creating a more personal and intimate experience

The concept for the Jumbo Planetarium is to create a simultaneous experience through combining educational features with new and exciting social elements, the experience will appeal to two different generations. The way in which these qualities can be achieved is through developing diverse areas within the Jumbo Planetarium. By assigning different functions to each area it will create a greater quality experience for all.
“Look What’s Out There” “Look what’s out there” is the slogan that the Jumbo Planetarium encourages. The experience allows visitors to look up to the stairs and discover new adventures in an exciting and social way. Combining education and fun is the goal of the Jumbo Planetarium, as it thrives on interaction creating extraordinary adventure for everyone

Creating a space that could stand out the main focus and making more business opportunity. This idea of design also could affect the relationship between the spaces, visitor and staff. This is why the design is using heirarchy element to differentiate the spaces instead of building a wall or partition to break up the space.

A-IAD
project brief The aim is to transform an old pub in the center of Sopwell Ward into a modern social hub that provides a new meeting point for all the residents of Sopwell to re-connect with the community.
Justification
Community Centre provides all the amenities and neccessary facilities required by the community hence improves the social welfare of the residents. It is also important to provide a meeting point or place for gatherings in the community to increase communications among the residents. Thus, the connection between people can be bonded or strengthened.
location
The proposed site is orginally King Offa Pub, located at Wallingford Walk on Abbots Avenue West, St. Albans. The site is strategically placed in the centre of Sopwell ward which is within a mile distance for all residents of Sopwell. It is across the bridge from St. Julian’s Church which is a famous landmark for locals so it is easily to find. The land area is very open and wide that provides sufficient space for the proposed program. 5

Brief: Arcades in London are becoming a distant memory due to the lack of usage over the past couple of decades. Due to this deterioration many arcades have struggled to keep their doors open and have resorted to closure. In order to encourage a recovery of entertainment in arcades, the ideology of the arcade and entertainment must evolve in order to adapt to the current generation and beyond.

Features: The most outstanding feature of the arcade is the glass wall walkway which acts as an optional walking path in the centre of the arcade, providing a spectacle/highlight for the arcade. Additionally the wall also contains LED screens supplying the latest HD/4K technology, displaying entertainment, advertisements and possible tournament gameplay which allows the consumers to gather around the wall from the small lobby on the bottom floor or the balcony from the top floor. The wall also is interactive both visually and physically , resmembing a gamepad as a whole and the doorways resembling the popular arcade game Pacman.

Camden acts as an appropriate area for an arcade as it is in a convenient area where everyone can commute to via bus and train due to the wide number of public transport services. This acts as a huge positive factor in comparisson to arcades in the past due to the fact that arcades in the past were either in extremely inconvenient areas or in the extremely busy parts of London which can be offputting and expensive to travel to.

BASEMENT
The Railway Hub is located on Station Road in Edgware. It is a mock-Tudor building that was built in 1931. It was designed by AE Sewell for the brewers Truman Hanbury and Buxton. The building has been abandoned since the early 2000’s and in 2003 it was Grade II listed and has been on the Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register since 2013. The concept for the design is based around origami. The notion of modular flexibility is bought forward through all floors.
FIRST FLOOR
The main feature of the design is the partition walls. The wall itself is made up of a repeated hexagon pattern frames. The indie of the hexagons are hollows to allow light to flow through the space and the partition walls are on wheels to allow easy movement of them within the space.
SECOND FLOOR
The position of the partition walls is indicated on the floor with circular nodes creating a hexagon pattern, the hexagons are connected at nodes to enable the partition walls to be flexible and pivot into different positions. The desks and tables are designed developing from the idea of flexibly origami, with a modular triangle design. The flexibility of the furniture and the partition walls means that there are many combinations for the floor layout. Depending on user needs the design is able to accommodate small and individual work as well as bigger group work and meetings. The top two floors serve as working spaces, the ground floor is a cafe and reception area and the basement is mainly for events.

My concept is to design a modern youth club for the area of London, Shoreditch. I have transformed an old office space building (Michael Bailey’s association), the space carrys four l evels which was a good enough space to work with and add in all the necessary elements I needed for a youth club. Shoredtich is an area that is filled with so many young vibrant people, and I feel that this is the perfect fit to have a new and upcoming cool youth club. This opportunity can give the area a whole new light and give it more variety with things to do in Shoreditch.

The ambition is to create a transformable market. The function of the particular space can get changed depending on the day time in order to attract new audience. At the peak housrs fould courts will turn into a cooking class kitchen displaying some healty recipiecs of healty meal within one of the Eastern traditional cookong techniques. Each show will take 30 minuts. Everyone could become a part of this interective cooking class FREE of charge . The only issue is going to be a use of products that are selling in the market. So the visitor will be directed to buy some products.

WHY A WHITECHAPEL MARKET ? Vast swathes of the city are home to different pockets of nationalities from across the globe, according to official statistics. There are 4 main coultures working in the Whitchapel Market : PAKISTAN , TURKISH , INDIAN , BANGLADESHI . This information leaded to the idea if separation of the market into three main zones.
Along the section of street stretching from Aldgate to Stratford, Whitechapel Road perhaps best encomposses the idea of a ‘high street’. It is both a place of exchange, with a high intensity of retail, and a movement corridor linking the city centre toEast London. Markets form part of the larger urban systems of exchange, employment, food, and social interactions and therefore their fate has implications for the broader city context. There is a need to think strategically about the system of markets in London, which offer a unique draw for tourists as well as providing for local livelihoods. Ensuring the survival of the rich and diverse charecter of Whitechapel Market is a step in this direction.

The aim of this design report is to form and justify the functions of designing a ‘Social lounge’. This social lounge with consist of a bar and certain activities to assist the consumers to socialize during this atmosphere. This report will hold the location of the site picked for this project, the concept design, the structural analysis, and the brief development of this particular project. the site on Station road in Edgware is placed in an exceedingly very busy space, therefore planning a social lounge will be very ideal, because it would have an outsized increase within the customers. the site is a grade th three building, the exterior and structure of the building will be kept the same with some changes to its interior outcome. My proposal for the site is to design a social Lounge. There isn’t many, if not at all any Social lounges in England. The whole reason for this design idea is to increase the community in terms of making society communicate in terms of making society socialise more. Not only that, but to also allow people to enjoy and relax. The way in which I have decided to come by this idea is to include certain activity attributes joined with a bar.

This is mainly meant to make the women feel comfortable and free will to move around. The largescale structures are emphasised on the ground and first floor. On the roof, are three long skylights to allow enough passage of light during the day. The ceiling, is made out of wood which is then curved to look like drappings falling of the ceiling. These are supported by 4 columns.
On the first floor, contains an auditorium that is flexible in terms of use. Activities such as, yoga classes, group meetings and motivational talks can take place.
This facility caters for women that work day shift or night shift. The large- scale curvy structure (above) acts as dividers in the exhibition space. This gives the space a unique circulation movement.

ORANGERY SECTION X-X SCALE @ 1:100
My main feature in my design is the Mixology Areas / Bar Areas to go and experiment with the teas and other ingredients. A way I have defined those areas is with Brass Inlay on the flooring of the Tea Rooms. The inlay strips of Brass act like “subliminal” track lines where the visitors will follow and see that they all lead to different Mixology Bars within the building.
The reason why I chose to add an Orangery extension is because I couldn’t create my Secret Room within the main building itself. Therefore, as a substitute I chose to add the extension, not that it will be secret but it is for additional space. It can also act as a Private space for venue hire for big groups of people. It also makes use of the unused space that is in the middle of Twyford Abbey and it doesn’t clash or cause any sort of distraction to the area as it is hidden away with the surrounding buildings.

My design is all about the experience of the visitor and making them feel over the top special and luxurious. My strategy to create this atmosphere is to create Mixology areas where people can experiment with different types of teas, spices, flowers and herbs. By doing so the visitor get to see what types of teas and other beverages they like. They can also create their own blend and have it there or in the Shop area and take it home all packaged up. My inspiration for this was from my Presidents study on T2 which let you taste and buy the tea that you like.
Many people in Ealing are if the age group of 25-29 in the 2011 statistic and the second highest was 30-34. The blending of Generation X and Y is important as they are my target age group that is suited for my design. Generation X being more willing to go to places for relaxation, destressing and escapism. Generation Y like similar things to Generation X so it will make it perfect to join the two together. However, Generation Y like the updated modern twist to old classics. These qualities are what I am looking for and what I have taken into consideration when designing.

My proposal for creating Twyford Abbey’s West Wing into a Tea House will work due to the Feasibility Report done previously. It will work in conjunction to the redevelopment of the rest of the buildings attached which are made into housing units because it will create more publicity to the area which will attract more people to area of Ealing. The style of my interior space for my design is Modern Day Opulence and the inspiration for that has come from my research made on tea, and how drinking tea had a social hierarchy attached to it. Due to only the wealthy and upper classes being able to drink it during the first social comming of tea, I have created a 21st Century Opulent design to go with my programme of High Tea.

HOTEL 120 Coralena Pattalis
The site is enclosed behind a padlocked gate with a private driveway off Cockfosters Road. As it is already privatised, this allows easy conversion of the programme within the structure. On the site there is a brick cabin, which houses the maintenance room, and a portacabin towards the rear. The brick structure I propose to turn into the hotels reception after completing an extension to double its size. Between the cabin and the tower on the site I propose to build a submerged basement level walkway to allow access between the 2. This will be partially covered above but allow for port-hole style rooflights to replicate the windows on the tower. Where the walkway and tower meet underground, the lift access will begin from basement level. The site will need to be altered to meet public safety regulations in terms of fire escapes, meeting points, and security. A secure car park will need to be incorporated within the plot, along with some maintenance of the landscaping. Potentially some trees will need to be removed that interfere with the structure.

All the research of the area suggest the programme to be placed will be successful. The immediate area of Hadley Wood is very affluent, as justified by the area stats taken form the 2011 consensus, therefore a boutique luxury hotel would be suited. Cockfosters Road has some of the largest and most expensive homes in London and has seen face to many celebrities The location is within the commuter region within the M25, therefore it is an ideal location for travellers commuting into London and can use the hotel as a base with direct travel links into central London taking only 40 minutes. The structure is suitable for a hotel as the bowl of the tower is set above the tree line providing glorious views into Trent Park and the countryside surrounding. The plot is large enough for deliveries for the day to day maintenance of the hotel and functioning of a business. There are low crime rates and high economic output in this region therefore the style of ‘luxury living’ should not be disapproved by locals. Similarly, the proposed strategy should not be rejected by Enfield Council as the walkway I suggest between the cabin and tower, will be submerged underground therefore not running the landscape and preserving wildlife.

This project aims to investigate how Interior Architecture and Design can take on a transformational role through re-defining existing contexts and functions in space. Cockfosters Water Tower is located on: Cockfosters Road, Barnet, EN4 0JF. The geographical position is in North London, on the outskirts of Trent Park, within the suburb of Hadley Wood. The tower was designed in 1968 by the architect Edmund C. Percey of Scherrer and Hicks, and J.W. Milne, chief engineer of the Lee Valley Water Company. It incorporates a supporting hyperboloid lattice of reinforced concrete and has a capacity of 1,130 m³. A number of mobile phone masts are located on the roof for various mobile network providers, Vodaphone being the main. I propose to turn the tower to an 8 bedroom luxury boutique hotel with a central atrium to be used as the main circulatory passageway and views to the sky. I propose a single floor extension of the tank to make way for dining facilities. This will also be circulated around the atrium, which the facade of each room will be at angles correlating to the 120° pitch of the hyperboloid supporting membranes. I also intend to build a basement for the services of the hotel. This will include for staff offices, staff changing, and wash rooms. On the sub-basement level there will be storage rooms for the produce of the restaurant, and maintenance and laundry facilities for housekeeping. I intend to knock down the existing services cabin and propose a new reception building which will house a small cafe, lobby area, a toilet and some outdoor seating areas.
The programme I intend to place into the site is a boutique hotel, making use of the entire plot. The tower will be converted to an 8 bedroom luxury suite. I propose a single storey extension to the roof which will house a restaurant and kitchen. The cabin on the ground floor, will convert to the hotels lobby and a new submerged walkway will connect the tower. The current staircase will be replaced with a lift, and the maintenance room in the tower converted to a communal space meeting point. All the suite doors will face inwards towards the atrium and have windows angled towards the roof at parametric angles. I propose for each interior facade to differ from one another with the angles they represent. As the external tank walls are 500mm thick I will experiment with punching small port shaped holes in each space as windows and play on the direction of the excavation, making use of the height and natural sunlight. These will be angled to face the sky at parametric angles. Each of the supporting structures are angled at 120° from the floor, using these angular conventions, these will be followed through into the interior whereby a central atrium will be produced conveying these angles throughout the design. As there will be limited light from the external walls, the central atrium which I propose to be glazed at the roof level, will provide walkways for circulation, along with creating a dynamic aesthetic on the angular interior facade.

Digital and virtual technologies are the backbone of the company, given that ASOS is an online brand, I wanted to honor its roots by combining their existing technologies with my own new ones. I created the ‘Snap it Shop it’ app for customers of the showroom to download and use within the store. The app enables customers to browse the store’s stock and try on garments to know what fits best, the item can then be purchased in store via the app or alternatively customers can scan the item code on the app and have it sent to their home. The showroom will not work as a regular retail space. All purchases in store will be made via the app or via one of the interactive touch screen podium’s located in store.

The existing site once served as a swimming pool and leisure centre, with a large main pool hall. In my design plans I have filled and converted the main pool into a space to exhibit some of ASOS’ most current stock. I have also created a second level to the main pool hall to give customers a more interesting space to explore. The diagram below shows the flow of the customer through out the space. As well as a second level and an adaptation the sites existing features I have also added new technologies intertwining ASOS’ existing digital online structure with my own design of technologies to incorperate the showroom with the existing website.
The above diagrams show the showroom at sectional views. Section B-B shows the entrance wall of the structure, highlighting the converted pool aspect of the room. Section A-A also shows the converted pool detailing, with the shelving grids included and entrances to the customer fitting rooms on the wall behind.

HELPING HAND. A JOURNEY THROUGH THE SHELTER. Randeep Sadasivan As the concept of the homeless shelter is to rebuild the life of a homeless individual by providing help they need to get back on their feet. I have introduced various accviies that I believe will provide evident that it is needed in order to rejuvenate a homeless individual. One of the most important accviies in my design is having the consultaaons rooms as this, in my concept, is considered the first stage the individuals go through. Secondly, the individuals are provided space such as study zones in order to carry out accviies with staff members on exercises such as CV building etc. There will also be a library available for them to use for pe personal or professional development. Lastly, as the homeless individuals will be coming from a hardship and a rough patch in their lives, I believe a socialising zone that will be open to the public will be beneficial as everyone can interact, share stories and relax all as one.
New East Facade The exissng facade had various downfalls on the building such as lighhng issues and having a access limitaaons. I have introduced a new steel framed, single glazed window facade with an extended entrances to ensure maximum light enters the building and controlled access into the site.
Render - Consultation Room This seccon of drawings represents the details of the consultaaons rooms within my design, Each consultaaon rooms has cladding with mber planks and is coloured for idennty.
Section - Detail Seccon detail drawing idennfies the materials used for the interior of helping hand, including some of its exissng structural materials.
Internal Elevation - Consultation rooms An internal elevaaon of the consultaaon room suggests the materials used and proposed exterior of the rooms.
Internal Elevation - Dormitories Internal elevaaon of the dormitories available for the homeless, there will be 14 rooms available at Helping Hand.
Detail - Sliding Door Detail drawing highlights the design detail on the sliding door to the rooms and how the mechanisms work.
Render - dormitories An internal visualisaaon of how the exterior walls of the dormitories will appear.
Render - Social Zone Realissc render of the scheme the socialising zone will portray, including furniture fifings, finishes and lighhng sources.
Render - Bedroom Visual showing the colour scheme in the bedrooms and what each room will include; Arm chair, bedside table, a wall sconce, pin board and bed size depending on needs.
Internal Elevation - Library Visualising the space available in the library, showing off the bespoke designed book shelves.

Scale: 1:!50 Proposed First Floor. First floor is where most educaaonal accviies take part such as interaccon in the library and study spaces. There is also a unisex toilet including disabled, storage and a staff room.
The aim of my proposal is to provide a fresh faced, up liied homeless shelter for the need in Croydon. p The proposal will offer shelter for those who are looking for over night shelter as well as shelter for a short period of me unnll they find somewhere permanent. Including other necessiies that one may associate with a homeless shelter, such as providing meals throughout the day and hot showers. However what makes this project stand out from exissng shelters is the combinaaon of providing a huge process of rejuvenaang the indivudal. The shelter will provide help and support for those who seek shelter by having consultaaon sessions as well as areas for the indivudal to beeer themselves to leave the situaaon they are in that mome of me in their lives. The proposal of this design will include the following: moment The shelter will have professionals working with the homeless in private consultaaons rooms providing vital and confidennal help to those who may need this service. It will also include study zones for those willing to learn and beeer themselves in order to find jobs once they leave or assistance with anything they are struggling with by staff members. Also considering there may be indivudals with children who may come to the shelter there is of course space to accomodate them as well as a kids and family zone to keep them occupied. In order to provide further resources for the homeless, the design adapts a small library full of educaaonal medias. Lastly as this shelter is a way of giving back to the community and helping those in need on the ground floor there will be a socialising zone, this will be open to the public to learn more about the shelter as well as space for the indivudals to share each others stories and relax.
Scale: 1:!50 Proposed Ground Floor. Ground floor consists of four entrances to the site, the main entrance is from the East side. This will lead to the receppon/socialising zone. This floor also holds the consultaaon rooms, kids/family zone and most importantly accommodaaon for the homeless.
Proposed West Elevation. In order to ensure the new proposal is nooced by the public i have introduced ETFE cladding on the walls with LED bulbs to light up the pillows with specific colours in relaaon to my brand design.
Proposed East Elevation. The East Elevaaon is the main entrance into the building. A new steel framed glass facade has been introduced in order to eliminate environmental limitaaons.
Scale: 1:!50 Proposed Basement Floor. Basement floor holds only the necessiies that you will find in a homeless shelter. The floor consists of a kitchen to prepare, a canteen area to eat as a whole and shower faciliies.

Cafe Render
To present my design idea, I have produced renders. The renders show different parts of the cafe/restaurant. I have designed renders of the main parts of the building.== These are the cafe, entrance, kitchen and the exterior of the site which consists of trees and green areas. The renders present my design concept which is geometric shape. I have used geometric shapes to design the interior. The wood pillars which I have used on the ceiling, is to make the room look like it is flowing, just the way petrol would flow. I have presented the logo in my renders. I wanted the logo to be eye catching because, I dont want the space to loose its function. Although ca customers would be in cafe/restaurant, I still want them to realise that they are in a petrol station. I believe my design creates a calming settled environment, which is designed in a luxry way. The materials that I have used throughout my renders are all similar. I have used light oak furniture as they best suit the wood pillars on the ceiling. I have also picked light colour tiles to use throughout the interior space. The exterior of the site consists of many trees and car park spaces. The aim is to hide the petrol station from the exterior so people can find it fascinating and drive into the space.

Brief The aim of the project p is to convert an abandon petrol station located in Walthamstow, East London, into a more useful and unique space for the people living in, Walthamstow. The aim of the project is to turn the existing space into a cafe/restaurant with its unique geometrical interior design. The purpose of the design idea is to design a enthuiastic unique first design in London. The petrol station will become an important icon of Walthamstow with its architecural and internal design. The design of the petrol station should give a picture of Art Deco whilst, the beauty of the design will be spotted as unique. The exterior of the building is going to have a big impact on the design of the whole space, as the exterior will be the first part to attract customers into the space. I designed the exterior with trees so noone can see the inside the petrol station as long as they drive in. The design idea came from my holiday to Turkey summer 2016. I was attracted by the petrol station which consists of cafe or restaurants. After getting influenced by this design idea I thought, why shouldnt we have one in London? Whilst designing a spacial interior I didnt want the site to loose its function which is a petrol station. Although theres going to be a cafe/restaurant within the petrol station, there would still be supplying petrol to all customers. I dont want the site to loose its actual function and become something totally different.

The White Hart Public House is a derelict site in the middle of the High Street in Ponders end, and has always been a public house since 1861. My proposal for the site is to referbish and redesign it into a Play Cafe and after school club. Where new parents can come to socilise with other parents and relax or spend some time with thier children. Older children from nearby schools can come and seek help with homework. This is a space where children can play and learn and still have fun.

The concept of my design is, ‘Learning through Play’. When designing for children, it immediately has an educational purpose whether PROJECT TITLE or not it was intended. This is because children are learning non stop, they will pick objects up and play with them. They can use their imagination to create whole new things from these objects. The importance of play is crucial in the development of children, it enhances their social, physical and communication skills. Young minds are still forming and need to be stimulated.

VR Technology
These glass atriums allow tremendous amounts of light into the building to the darkest areas. This Allows more natural light and also provides a ventilation system which is controlled automtically. English Ivy inside the atrium create a pleasant aesthetic and also help nutralise the air.
Using VR technology in this building is essential for the sensational experience of seeing your possible future home virtually. VR will also help advertise and brand the building for this new era of property hunting. It will gain attention from a wide variety of people wanting to try this new iconic feature.
Energy efficiency is vital in the design of this building as it is currently at a very poor standard This location gets a variety of weather in this location, perfect for Solar Panels, Wind turbines and also the collection of rain water.
In the concept of Green House, the growth/ developing of plants is the key focus. This is also the focus in this building as I want customers to develop as a person here with an educational activity, awareness of sophisticated technology and aknologing more sustainable ways of living.

The Lumber House project based on transformation of an old pub into a Rehabilitation Centre for handicapped people. The site is located in Oxford near by one of the main hospitals for the convenience of the clients, and also very short distance to the Shotover Hill Park which inspiration has been introduced throughout the design. The programme of the design and concept are very much connected. This is because the programme affects the way the design in order to have the most meaning to the users. Firstly, the building consists of 4 floors - on which programme is seprataed by its functions. The lowest floor- Cellar, is the Physiotheraphy for the clients which also is seen as the most obscure and darkest side of being handicapped because in most cases, there is no cure.
Next, the ground floor is the floor which is dedicated to the social aspect of ones ability to communicate and socialise. Therefore, this has taken the biggest floor and the one which has an easiest access to, just like with people, it is easier to work on their sociability. Another floor is the Ecotherpahy which is the last stage of the rehabilitation where t he clients get to focus on purely themselves through experiencing peace and fall in love with the beauty of earth and see through the darkness. The programme and the design concept is translated into the access of natural light into the building. Therefore, the amount of light depends on each floor, and the higher the floor is, the more light it gets to it.

This is a building that is situated at an open area and not far from the Hatfield town centre. Also near by the site, is the one only mall in Hatfield, Galleria outlet mall. Galleria is where most of the resident choose to go for shopping, eating and family gathering. Other than visiting London and St. Albans. This is one of the strongest reason for deciding to build a new entertainment centre in Hatfield that opens until late at night is still young, there is a venue for them to go to. The existing building was an empty building and unoccupied. The building is an empty warehouse which was occupied by a textile manufactor. While the building next to it is just an empty warehouse ready to be sold. The building structure has a basic brick wall finish. The warehouse is located at St Albans Road West, AL10 0TE, Hatfield. The building is consisted by four other building with three same size and one slightly big than the rest. This warehouse was a family run business which has been established for almost 20 years. ‘EXPLORE’ YOUTH HOSTEL DOMINIKA WIELGOS The vibrant in colour spaces is to create an unforgettable experience for the users. Each of the floors as well as each sections of the building have been designed in a different colour. I have chosen four main colours blue, green, yellow and red, as using different tones they can be used together in one area. The purpose of this project was to achieve an enjoyable and comfortable accommodation. Common room which is placed on second and third floor is a place for users who wants to enjoy their time with friends or meet new people. A ping pong and snooker table, TV with video games and an access to a rooftop bar is made for entertainment without leaving the building. The bedrooms are designed to be all the same. I have created an addition wall in each of the rooms with a custom cut out shape which then continues to the floor creating a continuous pattern which indicates the concept idea. The cut out is to be coloured in to give the space a unique look. Suspended ceiling in each area is to give an interesting light effect. The ceiling and walls designs have been inspired by organic forms, and each of the areas are to have different shapes and forms. The colour is to be fading in starting from ceiling continuing onto wall from darker to lighter getting the effect of different shades.

Bridge and good access to London The site was historically a Victorian tannery, many original features of the building survive today. Three stunning floors of the original building feature wooden beams and floorboards and exposed brick walls. In addition, the site offers a walled yard, a rooftop with views of central London, and a sparse industrial concrete garage space. The warehouse is being used for private events and parties. 49 Tanner Street is located 10 minutes away walk from London Bridge Station with an easy access to all London Airports. My proposal for the site is a youth hostel. I believe it can boost up the rate of the area in terms of a safety and place to stay close to Central London. While hotels around the area offers private rooms with no chance to socialise with others, my design will be different as it will be designed to offer sociable accommodation, with bunk beds in rooms, living rooms with televisions and books, and self-catering facilities open to a diversity of people from diverse backgrounds, religions and culture.
