The 2018-2019 BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design Graduation Project, more than in previous years, challenges the notion of existing building structures which operate various scales. Derelict buildings are now revitalised through a consistent process of spatial experimentation to house social, cultural or commercial agendas. The results of the Project reveal an array of design proposals and encompass a variety of solutions for different users: from youthclubs, to co-working spaces and museums. The intention throughout the process has been to discover, emphasise and expose the intimate idiosyncracies of each location in order to allow the new design to stand out from its original context. Enjoy the exhibition. Dr. Erica Liu 25 May 2019

The concept for this project is to develop a youth centre with a skate park to serve as a creative and productive outlet for the youth population of Welwyn Hatfield area proximity. The centre will provide as a social hub and a safer environment for skaters to enjoy rather than out on the streets where cars dominate the road. The skatepark facility will work as a free for all to use whilst the youth club arcade facility will be coin operated- pay as you go.

It will provide exclusive members the opportunity to socialise and network in a private and beautiful space. The building is located in Central London, Lancaster Gate, an extremely affluent and beautiful area that sits opposite the Royal Hyde Park. The aim of this project is to attract people to a space that has been left derelict for years; restoring it into a beautiful, luxury and contemporary design. Proposing a multi-functional space designed for an affluent clientele will honour and restore the original occupancy and reputation of this stunning building. The rear of the two buildings will be transformed with modern, cutting edge design inspired by the surrounding site: Hyde Park. The main concept that inspired the design is a combination of the Memorial Gardens and the Serpentine River, looking specifically at the Lily Pad that covers the waters of the Memorial Gardens, and the movement and colours of the river.

Clique is Business Management company that helps adults run start-up businesses. It is important that we found a quirky building for Clique’s clients to enjoy. The building will fit in well with the surrounding properties but this ivy covered facade will most certainly make a stand. The proposed design will be full of light and beautiful colours inspired by the northern lights often spotted in the night sky in places like Finland. Communal lounge areas will allow Clique and their clients to interact in a comfortable surrounding between classes and meetings.

Silverlands Retreat

Rural spa retreat Offering a range of outdoor activities; horseback riding, archery and garden strolls The spa would be uniquely designed around 1900 theatre as the Silverlands manor was an actors orphanage where children would go to escape, while the adults of today would go to immerse t hemselves in the history. The site location is in Chertsey, Surrey, which is prominantly green land and older land. In this plan all the surrounding buildings in the area. The immediate surrouding is very sparse and the house is very secluded, for a Private Retreat this is ideal.
