GRAPHIC DESIGN Canovaccio

Canovaccio -the thesis project for Academic Diploma Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication at the ISIA in Urbino- is a proposal to improve the effectiveness of the theatrical script. I clarified some key issues of theater semiotics that are useful working with theatrical script, that is a specific communicative artifact; and then I designed a new structure from the point of view of information architecture, taking into account the “sinsemic methodology. Mmm!

Designing a 16 pages booklet, a webapp, a custom map and morphing gif that concerned only the people who took part in the project “Garden at ISIA” donating vegetables and seeds that we have planted. Group project with Laura Biancardi and Filippo Emiliani. The 16 pages booklets are of two types: a traditional one in A5 format and one in poster size A2 that becomes an A5 browsable booklet. The MMM webapp allows you to: manage the fruits of your garden through the boxes in “my section”, try and find the “vegetable that you need” in the section “I need” and where you want with the map; exchange fruits and vegetables with the other users in “the market” and, with the messages, you can know people for exchange vegetables, or for a dinner. Thinking about the people and vegetables, the idea of morphing seemed the most appropriate to relate personality and garden products. From morphing we have obtained two different applications: animated gifs for promoting the app “MMM” on the web (on sites, blogs, etc ...) and paper flipbook with integrated QR Code references to the blog, and then to the app. Links

Scientific Libraries

Identity project for the library of the “Center for Environmental Education” of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. After had analyzed four scientific libraries of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, I focused on the “Environmental Education Center Library”, examining aspects such as the Moon (and its phases), and the “Set theory” (the first and basic scientific language), drawing a base grid on which to build the four marks and the mark of the system accordingly. The brand appears to have a strong identity and dynamics, date precisely from materials derived from the grid and common to all but combined differently. Group project with Laura Biancardi, Filippo Emiliani and Asia Valencic.

The colors of the shadow

Design and communication for the event “The colors of the shadow Stories of plant life” at the Botanical Garden of the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”. For the identity I focused on incisions in the trunks (which are done to check the growth of the tree); and also on the tranquility that the place, giving the opportunity to stay in the shade and green (as the title tells us event), even in summer. I then used the graphic sign of the “scratch/etching” in the oriental manner, communicating the Garden as a “zen” place, where you can walk calmly and where you can grant meditations and reflections, simoultaneously learning the mechanisms and the curiosity of the world plant. In addition, observing the Japanese characters, I created a communication system with icons that are derived from the combination of the signs in minimal scratch.

Snap is a pioneer in the fashion industry which uses capillary diffusion of the internet to sell clothes that produces but which are designed by the users themselves. The concept is to think Snap like a closet, the most personal thing, filled by users with “impossible clothes, which are part of the communication of the company, and -the users themselves- create the dynamic identity. PHOTOGRAPHY Double coffee

A “naive” reflection on the commercial role of coffee in the Western world, and its production. I asked colleagues to draw on a blank sheet of paper a simple sketch in which the characters had one or more coffee beans in them. I then used the off-camera technique. The negative effect made coffee beans even more interesting, because they’re usually recognized for their typical dark pigmentation; but in this case the coffee became white and rather more difficult to recognize, gaining in abstraction and becoming therefore symbolic.

Monte Giove

The Hermitage of Camaldolese monks of Monte Giove has got something that only the Wabi-Sabi theory would well explain: “The presence of a strong natural component, and of imperfect things, unfinished and temporary, modest and unusual Leonard Koren The subject, the little cell of a monk, is not in itself a sacred place (as it can be the church that dominates the architectural ensemble of the hermitage), but it requires the view with a solemnity almost disconcerting, disturbing . The overall symmetry oof the picture contribute to an alienating effect.

The headlight

“The bicycle is a transcript of the energy balance, the exaltation of the momentum, the visible image of the wind. Tend to fly. Cesare Angelini My old bike is made up of many parts, but the most magic has always been able to illuminate the road. The dynamo allows you to transform physical energy into electrical energy. Here, however, the headlight is off, technically, but its light pervades the picture anyway.
