A set of playing cards I made back in 2005. They are mildly saucy.
I would make them differently if I was drawing them again, but I'm still fond of this little set. I've run out now, too.
My favourites are the aces and Jack the Lad.
The suits are loosely themed. It all started with the Jacks
Jack the Lad (Diamond Geezer), Jaq the Lady Boy (Hearts), Jack of Clubs (Cerne Abbas Giant) and Jack-in-the-Green.
I made them at a time when a lot of young people were wearing Burberry, so the diamonds are Burberry-themed.
Hearts are 'transgressive' loves – a drag King and Queen and a hermaphrodite Jack
Spades are loosely 'folk' themed - A mexican devil, a mermaid and Jack-in-the-Green
Clubs were a bit random... wooden backgrounds because clubs are made of wood, Josephine Baker is Queen of Clubs, Cerne Abbas Giant has a club and Elvis is The King!
