1995. Melbourne, Australia. A few men and women sit around and stare at each other’s scars, tattoos and bicycles, complaining about the state of their bags. That’s how Crumpler started. With a bunch of gritty bike messengers trying to figure out a solution to messenger bags that could live up to their tough line of work. No bag on the market could, so they started designing those bags themselves. What started small and chain-oil-dirty, stayed dirty – but got bigger. Sticking true to its heritage in the bike messenger scene, Crumpler soon became a lovechild among urban species like street photographers, tech savvy apple friends, bloggers and different breeds of creatives; from graphic designers to street artists. It seems Urban Explorers share one thing: a common appreciation for tough-minded design and hard-line quality.
It’s probably that free-wheeling Australian gene in our DNA that lets us here at Crumpler celebrate individuality. But then again, how can you not appreciate the wonders of diversity. To give you the best possibilities to express your unique side our range consists of more than 1.000 individual products and 128 colours. And counting.

Our legendary dreadlocked street traveler. Some people idolise him. Other people just owe him a favour. He was hand-drawn by one of our founders and inspired by the godfathers of exploring tribes: the Aboriginal people of Australia. All our man needs in the world is his bag and what goes inside it.
