Introduction Piranhas are very dangerous and deadly fish. Some piranhas don’t attack people. There are more than 30 kinds of piranha. Twenty kinds of piranha live in the Amazon River in South America. Not all of the piranhas can eat humans. The only piranhas that can eat humans have strong jaws with very sharp teeth.


Body Not all piranhas are the same size. There are some piranhas as small as a mouse. The biggest piranha is at least 20 inches (51cm). The smallest piranha is as small as a baby gold fish. Every kind of piranha has their own color. They can be silver, black, blue, have colored spots, or have a red stomach. All piranhas have triangular sharp teeth, strong jaws, and their teeth slide down when they close their mouth like scissors. Their bodies can be oval shaped or flat. These shapes help them swim very fast. The fins work together


Habitat They have to live in warm water where it is 24 to 30 degrees. If the water is too cold, than they can die. They also live in shallow water. This is why they live in shallow water. They have to make nests in shallow water and lay eggs in the nest. Piranhas live in several places in South America. They also live in the Orinoco River, the Guyana River, The Rio Sao Francisco, and Rio Parian. They mostly live in hot or warm places near the equator.

Hunt They hunt in groups. They hide and if their prey comes, they come out and eat them up. Sometimes they can eat up their predators. They even can eat big animals. They can eat big animals that are not as strong as them. They can eat alligators, but they have to be careful because they can get eaten. Adult piranhas can eat almost every thing, such as humans body parts and big animals.

This is a Piranha’s freaky and sharp teeth.


Examples of Piranhas Black, red bellied, and Piraya piranhas are the group of big piranhas. Red bellied piranhas are the nastiest piranha. Red bellied piranhas are one of the fastest swimming piranhas. Red bellied has the one of the most sharpest teeth. Red bellied piranha is one of the colorful piranha. The color becomes lighter when they get older.Biggest piranha, Pirayas lives in Sao Francisco River. Biggest piranha size is at least 20 inches (51cm). They have they sharpest and biggest teeth than other piranhas. Black piranha is one of the common piranha and they lives in Orinoco River. They have strong jaws that can break a person’s finger off. Piraya is the biggest piranha that can grow to 20 inches Piranha is the deadliest fish of all the time (51cm).


Glossary Deadly - dangerous, causing death. Piranha - deadly and dangerous fish of all. Jaws - Forming the framework of the mouth and contains teeth. Triangular - Triangle shape. Fins - Flatten part of the fish that helps the fish swims. Equator - An imaginary line int the middle of the earth, it is very hot. Prey - Their food. Predators - Their enemy. Nastiest - Mean, very cruel. Common - Very often, not hard to see.

Piranhas are scary creatures, but not all of piranhas are nasty. Some piranhas eat seeds, fruits, and vegetables. Meat eating Piranhas are strong enough to bite off a human’s finger. Adults are has very strong jaws so they can eat a part of human’s body.

Red bellied piranhas are one of the nastiest piranha of all. Piraya is a biggest piranha of all that lives in Francisco River. If you want to know more than read this book!
