Introduction Sharks are one of the most amazing fish that existed even before dinosaurs were on earth. They are the most unique kind of fish, because they have a special bone called cartilage. Other fish can swim backwards, but sharks can’t because they always need water to breath. They live in the ocean, rivers and many other places. If you want to find out more facts and information about sharks, this is the right book for you to read!

Shark Attacks Shark attacks are something many people are afraid of, and we often see them in movies. In America, there are about 50 shark attacks, and there are 0-3 fatalities every year, too. South Africa has 214 shark attacks (the most), but Volusia county, Florida is the most dangerous place. Volusia County is considered more dangerous because South Africa has a longer beach, but the number of shark attacks among the two places are very similar. Shark attacks are not very common. You are more likely to die from lightning, getting eaten by an alligator, falling down the stairs, bee stings or drowning in your bathtub. As you can see, shark attacks are very rare.

Sharks’ Body Parts How do sharks' body parts help them swim more easily? Sharks' tail fins help them swim easily. Sharks' tail fins help them go forward and they help the sharks change the direction that they want to go. Sharks also have skin that can help them swim better. Their skin is made out of tiny teeth called denticles that are pointed backwards to help the sharks swim. Shark skin makes the shark more flexible so they can change direction faster.

Did You Know?

Sharks teeth fall of about 10 - 20 each day because their teeth are weak. Still, they have about 3,000 teeth left.

Reproduction This is about how babies can born and what happens when the females gets pregnant. When the female gets pregnant, they can’t move around. When the female gets pregnant the shark has to stay in place, so the male bites the females' fin so the female can’t move around. Some of the babies can't born because they kill each other in the mom’s belly. Sharks have three ways that they can be born. They can hatch their egg, or live birth. They also are born with a combination of hatching and egg, egg or live birth.

Hunting Sharks use their really good senses to hunt for food. Sharks have really good senses and sharks can smell one drop of blood from miles away so they can hunt easier. Sharks also have really good hearing, and they can also hear things from miles away. Sharks eat many kinds of animals under the sea. They eat sharks larger than themselves, squid, and they can even swallow a school of small fish moving around them. Most sharks don't eat people; they eat other animals under the sea.

Their body parts are different then other animals, they have more than 3,000 teeth that could grow after their teeth fell off, and many more. They are the most interesting sea creature I ever knew.
