Polar bear and brown bear.

Polar bears are the biggest bear in the bear family. They have black skin that absorbs the heat. They can swim up to 100 miles in cold water. Here you will learn how the polar bear is suffering and different facts about how they live.

1

Seals they eat.

Food

Polar bears hunt to live, or else they will not be able to survive. They like to eat lots of different type of seals that stay in the cold waters. One of the kinds of seals they hunt are harp seals. Polar bears eat seals because they need a huge amount of fat and the seals have it. If they can't find any seals they find other sea animals. Polar bears will eat dead walruses, and even whales that wash up on the shore when they really need food. If there is none of the other foods they will eat reindeer, fish, and sea birds, and even bird eggs and berries. Polar bears only eat some parts of a seal. They usually eat the blubber and the skin of the seal. After eating the parts they like, they leave the rest for the Arctic foxes. They eat a lot of different animals and food that live in the arctic area.

Harm

Factories causing global warming.

Polar bears are getting endangered just cause of humans. Polar bears eat human garbage when they can't find any food. It harms the polar bears body and bones. All the human garbage comes from the Arctic sea. Global warming can harm polar bears a lot. Polar bears are starting to loose there habitat just because of global warming. Polar bears also have predators. They can fight each other and die or get injured. Humans are also polar bears predators. After reading the harm we are doing, please help the polar bears by using lights as less as possible, like when you leave your room you can turn off the lights. 3

Habitat Polar bears don’t live there.

Where most polar bears live.

Polar bears live near the Arctic. They also live near the coast, and on islands. They live near the coast because the coast provides the food they need. When they are on land it is harder to catch food because they have to swim a lot more far. Lots of ice cover arctic all year long but in the summer lots of ice melt. They are forced to stay on land when almost all the ice melts. When the ice melts, it is harder for them to catch food. Careful though, the polar bears are loosing their habitat. 4

Behavior The polar bear has lots of cool and unique ways of doing things. Polar bears even sleep in different positions. They usually cover their nose when they sleep because they have to keep their nose from the cold ice. Most of the time they will curl up and cover their nose. They are animals that do not hibernate in the winter. In fact, they are most active in the winter. In the winter they are active even if all 24 hours are dark. The polar bears behavior is sometimes really unique and different fron other animals
