Introduction Whale sharks are very friendly. They even let you ride on them! They also have a very beautiful pattern on there skin. To learn more read this book!


Habitat All the whale sharks live warm waters. Whale sharks live in the range around the equator. Some whale sharks like to live somewhere near shore. Some whale sharks live around the equator for the warmer water. Whale sharks don't like cold water. If a whale shark goes in cold water the whale shark will start welling up. the whale sharks that live near shore are not that afraid of people and you can go suba diving with the whale shark.

The blue range is where the whale sharks live.


Appearance A whale shark has a very detailed body. The whale shark has many colors on its body. When a whale shark is born they are born with a color they will grow up with for the rest of its life. The whale sharks base color is grey, dark reddish or brown. Over the base color there is a pattern the pattern is white or yellowish spots with a white stripes. Underneath the color is white. A whale shark can be about 8-­‐10 meters (25-­‐35 feet) long. Some whale sharks can be up to 15 meters (50 feet) long.


Reproduction

Female whale sharks have a lot of eggs in side of their body. When a female whale shark gives birth to a young they let then go live by them self. The young has to go and learn how to survive in the ocean. The young does not get feed by the mother so need to go in the ocean live by its self until it starts mating. A female whale shark has a lot of eggs in side their body but only some survive. The eggs that don't survive the turn in to embryos that feeds the other eggs so that do survive. A female whale shark can give birth to more than ten babies at a time. A male whale shark fertilizes the eggs. Scientists doesn’t really know how whale sharks give birth in detail.


Foods

This is all plankton

Whale shark only eats less than 5 types of living creatures in the water. One of the ``foods a whale shark eats is plankton. Plankton is so small it has to Qlow with the water current. Whale sharks also eat small Qish no matter what type they are. Some times whale sharks eat school of Qish. The other types of food a whale shark feeds on are squid and krill. They never eat or harm humans.

Victoria Terta is a 10 years old girl that goes to SAS (Shanghai American school) Puxi ES.She is currently in Mr.Paci’s 5th grade class.Her favorite subject is Social Studies and Math. When she grows up she wants to be a vet or a nurse. Her favorite Hobby is swimming. Her favorite color is purple and blue. Victoria chose whale sharks as a topic because whale sharks has always amazed her. Also she loves animals.Her favorite animals are Pomeranians, and dolphins.
