1 Margarétka 2 The leisure zone for the town of Topoľčany location: Topoľčany / Slovakia type: Landscape / Urban design author: Erik Blaho client: city Topoľčany year: 2017

Proposal of the leisure zone for the town of Topoľčany. The purpose of the Margarétka 2 project is to create a public space serving all the inhabitants of their leisure activities in nature and thus to improve the quality of life in the city. The project builds on the original Margarétka area and complements it functionally. It adds to the area the function and attractiveness that should reach the general public and motivate it to sport and stay in the fresh air. Margarétka in Slovak means Leucanthemum The composition of the proposal is based on the abstract concept of the field full of leucanthemum, which was typical for designed site. Each leucanthemum - the circle contains a certain function or different character of the terrain.

New Public Spaces for Ružinov Public Spaces - Faces of the new city district Graduation project location: Ružinov / Bratislava / Slovakia type: Urban design author: Erik Blaho supervisor: doc. Ing. arch. Ľubica Vitková, PhD. consultant: Ing. arch. Katarína Boháčová, PhD. oponent: Ing. arch. Tomáš Šebo year: 2015 http://www.archinfo.sk/diela/urbanizmus/nove-verejne-priestory-pre-ruzinov-diplomovy-projekt.html

This diploma thesis is an urbanistic project of city districts Mlynské nivy, Pálenisko, Zimný prístav. The project is based on current trends in building a “future city”, it respects and tries to complement the character of the locality. Main ideas of the project are diversity of urbanistic structure, multifunctionality, flexibility, self-sufficiency, public space and rail transport, rich in public spaces, greenery, art and entertainment. Inhabitants should be able to reach all important institutions on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. Designated area contains several national cultural heritages as well as plenty other historical elements which by their preservation and new utilization ascend the area to “physical memory” and intensify genius loci. Designated area with its structure and functions may become extension of city centre.

Zaran Haus Zurndorf Community Center location: Zurndorf / Austria type: Architecture / Urban design author: Erik Blaho supervisor: Ing. arch. DuĹĄan Ferianc, PhD. client: town Zurndorf year: 2014

The site is located in the Austrian village Zurndorf and forms a narrow strip connecting two parallel streets. The proposal consists of two houses: a building for temporary housing with space for workshops, and a Community Center with a square, which is the center of the village. The Community Center and the square make up a single unit so that they can provide a variety of events for the whole village, thus being its true center. In order to make the square reach its high potential, the building of the Community Center must be adjusted by a system of openable roof and ground floors. A podium or a roof terrace can easily be created by opening the roof. The open ground floor can provide great public space (a square + a Community Center + a small amphitheater). The objective was to create a complex of buildings that do not only threaten a rural character of the community but at the same time will be recreated by contemporary architecture.
