These are branches of the ministry that serve individuals and families by providing case management, food, clothing, household items and other provisions to those in need. Local churches and ministries can also partner with our “See the Need, Help Us Feed” food box ministry, and help provide even more individuals with the assistance they need. Last year, you helped to provide nearly 5,000 food boxes to those in need.

WE ARE THANKFUL FOR OUR COMMUNITY!

The “Needle Benders” come to our Our men are enjoying the basketball campus every week and make lovely hoop provided by a generous donor! quilts for our male residents. Thank you for your continual support, ladies!

3. VOLUNTEER

We know how valuable your time is. When you serve in the kitchen, pack food boxes, sort donations, tutor adults in our learning center, lead worship or a chapel service, help with maintenance or transport, or volunteer at our annual Winter Wonderland event, your gift doesn’t go unnoticed. Your presence is inspiring hope.

We are continually thankful to the pastors and teachers who come and deliver the Gospel to those in need 365 days a year at our Men’s Mission.

GIRL SCOUTS

Members of Girl Scout Troop #51 came to our campus and built a sand box for our residential children, including a book of learning activities for parents and children to use while at play. The scouts also put together “Parent/Child Interaction Stations” to promote quality time between mother and child.

Do you remember the story of the Good Samaritan? Seeing a fellow human being in need, the Samaritan showed a tremendous amount of compassion and mercy. He began the work of mending the broken man’s wounds and brought him to the inn, a place of shelter. The Good Samaritan needed help from “the innkeeper” to continue to see that the injured man was cared for. Each month, many damaged individuals come for help at Lighthouse Ministries Gospel Rescue Mission. The Good Samaritan began the work, but realized that he couldn’t do it alone. He realized it would take more time and resources than what he was equipped with to see it through. Lighthouse does the work of the innkeeper and you are the Good Samaritan! Together, we can go beyond the bandages, the rest, the food, and the clothing…we can provide eternal hope, and it begins by developing a caring relationship with the individual and showing the love of Christ. Sometimes it’s through a simple meal. Other times, it’s going a little farther: supplying clothing, shelter, childcare, counseling, transportation, advocacy, education, life skills, life coaching, discipleship, evangelism, college and vocational training, dorm life, employment and career advancement. This model of comprehensive care is called Success Sheltering. As a Success Sheltering sponsor, you can make a difference this Season of Giving with a gift of $50 - $100. You can donate on our website at www.lighthousemin.org. Who does Jesus say was the neighbor to the individual in need? The one that showed mercy. Consider this: after all that is said of the Samaritan, Jesus commands us, “Go and do the same.”

4. SPONSOR

The model of Success Sheltering offers educational and vocational development for residents to discover a pathway of success in a safe living environment. Everyone who lives on the campus is given an opportunity to experience God’s peace, life purpose and fulfillment of potential. A gift of $50 towards Success Sheltering will go to supporting the needs of our residents as they are provided safe shelter, nutritious meals, clothing, classes in recovery, personal growth and financial management, childcare, transportation, adult education, career advancement, leadership training, lifecoaching and mentoring and so much more! Donate online now at www.lighthousemin.org.

Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving,

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14 THRU FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2OTH Mark your calendars for our annual community Christmas celebration! This is an opportunity for you, your family and friends to visit our campus and celebrate the season with your neighbors. Take a picture with Santa, enjoy arts & crafts, visit a live nativity, explore bouncy houses and play games. Each night we are asking groups to do an hour long “Music & Ministry” presentation in which you would alternate with Christmas music and the Gospel presentation. We want to thank local groups and churches who have already committed to hosting: Florida Southern Girl’s Basketball team, Kathleen Baptist, First Baptist Mulberry, First Baptist Fort Meade, Fuel Church, Carter’s Baptist, First Missionary Baptist Church Auburndale and Crossroads Baptist Church. BECAUSE OF YOU, RICK HAS A REASON TO BE THANKFUL

Rick had moved to Florida in 2000 after a string of lay-offs, but the trigger for his alcoholism was the loss of his mother on Mother’s Day 2012. It devastated him. “She was my ‘rock of Gibraltar.’” Even as he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren, Rick gave way to a daily cycle of drink after drink until he would pass out. He lost a great deal of weight, his only nourishment being in the alcohol he consumed and the cigarettes he smoked. “I just drank, drank, drank…morning, noon and night.” Rick’s daughters had determined it was time for their father to seek help, but Rick was resistant at first, locking them out from his home for several days. When they returned for him, he was extremely weak. He went through the interview process, but had to take some time to regain strength to begin the program from having binged for so long. Upon entering the residential program, Rick has been able to quit smoking and sober up “cold turkey.” He has also been exposed to the Bible, and a deeper understanding of its principles. He has now had a chance to experience Christ’s healing power first hand, especially in prayer, “I feel like I have grown spiritually.” Rick graduated from the NOVA Program during the summer...with some of his children and grandchildren in attendance. Rick hopes to continue to strengthen his relationship with his family and spend more time with his grandchildren. He also is looking forward to returning to his janitorial job at the D.O.T.
