Kareena has always been a show stopper in your shows, is there any special bond you share with her? She is very special besides being a stunning, innocent and talented actress. She is like a sister to me. I met her when she was just 9 years old. I was there in Kareena’s first shot. It’s been a long way.

How do you relate to your upcoming shows theme- ‘my fashion, my pride’? Well, I think for me, having that individual space on the map of Indian fashion, where I am the only designer who came from the world of costumes all the way to main stream fashion, is my identity and pride. I am the designer who has space in backdrop of movies. I come from the time where people saw movies separately and song tunes separately. I am the first person to bind all of it together. The fact that it’s been 30 years, I have been working with the next generation and main stream. That’s ’My Identity, My Pride’. For everybody, who can stand on their individuality, it’s all about that.

What made you decide that it is finally time for you to have a store in Hyderabad? I love the city of Nizams- Hyderabad. I love the food here. I love the culture here. I’ve always had it in mind to set up a store here. It took me one and half year to set it up. I am really happy that it’s finally done.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

You recently walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra. So what do you like about him? Manish is extremely glamorous and larger than life! He loves everything grand and big. That’s his personality. He is like the only king of his castle. He is the only designer of India that can balance the fashion world and film world. That’s what makes him so unique.

What are your thoughts about the media attention Taimur gets? I’ve never really understood the reason behind the extreme attention. We have been good parents and haven’t shied away or hid Taimur’s face. But something that the media should understand is that constant attention and scrutiny isn’t always good. We should protect him and let him lead a normal life as much as possible.

How has parenthood changed your life and Saif’s? Before marriage you have your own kind of freedom, you look at life from your own perspective. But now I think whatever we do is for Taimur. He’s priority. We basically look at life through his eyes now. Like everything is through him.
