Dear Members,

I want to thank all of you for your support and patience as we go through this transition at the Club

The new Website just launched, and we are in the process of adjusting a few things to get you comfortable when logging on. Soon we will begin work on the Ranch Course Renovation Project. This is truly an exciting time to be a member at Black Diamond Ranch!

Also, a quick reminder that starting this month, if you choose to pay by credit card for your statement or any transactions at the Club, a 3% convenience fee applies The Club does not collect this fee - it is paid directly to our third-party credit card processor

Our new Concierge is Bricyn Wylie, and she will be happy to assist you with any reservations or questions you may have Her email is communications@blackdiamondranch com Once you meet Bricyn you will see what an asset she is to the Club!

The season has raced by, and now some of you will be heading back to your northern homes. For those of you heading north, please travel safely and know that we are only a phone call away! As we begin to wrap up our busy tournament season here at Black Diamond Ranch, the month of April features some of our most important events of the year.

The Men’s & Women’s Club Championships will be held April 15th & 16th 2022

Men’s Champion Mike Lewis and Ladies Champion Laura Monea are eager to defend their crowns.

The Men’s Member-Guest will be played April 19th-22nd This event is the premiere Men’s event of the year! April is also the month that some of our members begin to return to their northern homes for the summer. It has been a wonderful season here at Black Diamond Ranch, with excellent participation in golf and social events. For those of you leaving for the summer, please know that we are only an e-mail or phone call away We want to hear from you about any golf accomplishments, i e Holes-In-One, Tournament Victory, etc. so we can share it with the Membership.

My name is Diane Finley and I live in Black Diamond with my fiance Bruce Davidson. I am a Realtor for Plantation Realty, Inc. We have lived in Black Diamond for 3 years and fell in love with the people right off the bat! We both like the game of golf however my real estate has kept me very busy and I haven’t played as much as I would like I am from Ft. Wayne Indiana and have 3 boys, Mac is 31, James and Jonathan just turned 30. I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Social Work. I moved to Florida in 2016. Little did I know that when I moved to Florida and changed my career into Real Estate that Social Work would be such a good background to have. I am now a multi million dollar producer Taking good care of my clients is the most important Hopefully my game of golf will eventually improve, fingers crossed!

FEATURED RECIPIE: CRAB CAKES

Ingredients Needed:

-2 pounds fresh jumbo lump crabmeat

-1 1/2 cups panko

-1/2 cup mayo

-1/4 cup chopped chives

-1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

-2 teaspoons seafood seasoning

-Kosher salt and ground pepper

-Juice and zest of 1 lemon

-3 tablespoons unsalted butter

-3 tablespoons olive oil

Cooking Instructions

Preheat over to 400 degrees F

For the crab cakes: gently fold together the crabmeat, breadcrumbs, mayo, chives, mustard, seafood seasoning, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper and the juice of one lemon in a large bowl. Refrigerate the crab mixture for 15 minutes

Meanwhile, make the tartar sauce: combine the mayo, dill pickles, capers, chives, zest, in a medium bowl and mix until combined. Season to taste with salt and pepper Cover and refrigerate until ready to use, Scoop heaping half cups of the crab mixture and pat into 2 1/2 inch wide patties.

Heat 3 tablespoons unsalted butter and 3 tablespoons olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium- high hear. Add the crab cakes to the pan and cook until golden.

March was a busy month for the agronomic team We had multiple member events and steady regular play. We prepared the golf courses for the Joyce Burns tournament, Ladies Member Guest and of course the Ryder Cup. We also had numerous irrigation issues throughout the month of March as well The irrigation team is working tirelessly to repair and improve the system so that we can irrigate the turf properly on a daily basis. March was unusually dry this year with several frost events and up and down temperatures. As the temperatures rose to growing weather, we began to push the grass in areas on the golf courses that we need to grow some grass in Warmer weather is certainly on its way through, and I look forward to growing out of the damage we sustained this winter on our non-over-seeded fairways. On greens we treat for all pests preventatively and the excessively cold and warm weather makes the Bermuda greens turns off color at times When favorable weather returns, and the grass breaks partial dormancy there is usually a flush of new growth that occurs that needs to be controlled through plant growth regulators to recapture more consistency on the surfaces. By remaining diligent with our weekly cultural programs, we will achieve this consistency which include: verticutting, light topdressing and venting In the month of April, we have another scheduled pre-emergent herbicide to apply Our weed management program is to apply a pre-emergent herbicide every two months to have a constant barrier to minimize the number of weeds that can germinate. From there we can spot spray any weeds that germinate Being consistent with these applications over a period of years will lead to weed free playing surfaces throughout the property We are making some progress here but still a long way to go. At this point on the Ranch project is tentatively set for the first week of June to begin. We are excited to get this anticipated project underway Staging will begin this month and we have selected a central area on #18 Ranch for project staging

Happy Spring to everyone! In April we have our BIG End of the Year Party on Thursday, April 13th, which promises to be fun! It’s a great way to enjoy the company of our friends and neighbors before they head north for the summer. Mark your calendars!
