On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July. We hope you get an opportunity to spend some time with family and friends.

We recently released our 2023/2024 Club tournament calendar linked here. Please take a few minutes to review and start think about which events you would like to sign up for.

Just a reminder that our summer Sunday Night Suppers are available for pick up on Sunday's between 2:00pm and 4:00 pm. Please email Carlos at csanudo@gallerygolf.com to reserve your dinner.

Lastly I would like to thank Mark Soto and the entire golf course maintenance staff for all their hard work. They work long hours in the heat to get the golf courses ready for play on a daily basis and their hard work should not go unnoticed

Good Day Members,

I hope everyone is having a great summer!

We are amid Phase 1 of our $15 million renovat on the golf courses As you all are aware, Phase renovation of our Saguaro golf course The main the design/landscape team is focusing on:

Rebuilding of all the green complexes- softe undulations of the greens, re-seeding all the with a new Bent grass variety, and reducing severity of the false fronts

New bunkers throughout- removal, reshapin reducing the overall scope/severity of the bu

Adding brand new Idaho white sand to all th along with new drainage

Additional tees on each hole- Creation of more forward tees on each hole

Clearing Desert Vegetation to open up the sightlines of the golf course

This is certainly an exciting time for the membership and the staff as we can all look forward to even better and more playable golf courses in the future.

We hope you all are continuing to enjoy the Member Programming at the club. The team has added more Member/Staff golf tournaments, some newer Men’s & Ladies events, and some summertime Couple Events to the schedule. We are focused on creating more events for our members to enjoy throughout the calendar year. If you have any suggestions on events you would like to see, please let me know.

Our golf courses remain in great shape for summertime golf in Arizona. The team is focusing on adding some Idaho White sand to our greenside bunkers on both the Tortolita & Wild Burro nines. Our crew headed by Nathan Gloyd - continue to elevate our daily playing conditions for our Membership and we will only look to continue to move that needle.

I hope all of you are having a great summer with family and friends! As we head into the month of July, we have a couple fun events to look forward to here at the Club.

On Tuesday, July 4th we will be conducting our annual Flag Day Tournament. Each player will receive an American Flag on the first tee, with

On Friday, July 14th will be our 9, Wine and Dine for the month If you would like to participate in either of these events, please sign-up on ForeTees or by calling the Golf Shop.

The 2023/2024 Golf Schedule of Events was just released. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be putting them into ForeTees. An email will go out to the Membership informing you when you can start signing up for the events. Start thinking about which ones you want to signup for, as they will fill up quickly.

AGRONOMY UPDATE, THE GOLF CLUB AT DOVE MOUNTAIN

Dear Members,

The summer weather has officially arrived in Arizona I hope you all enjoyed the cooler May and start to June that we experienced

Our Saguaro renovation is well underway at this point

The construction crew is focused on holes 5-7 to start, followed by 2-4 The construction team has successfully demolished 7 of the 9 greens on Saguaro, sod stripped the majority of the tees, and filled in the majority of the bunkers that will be removed in the plans. The golf course maintenance crew is hard at work clearing all of the desert vegetation to improve the sight-lines from the tees and the overall aesthetics of the golf course.

The Tortolita & Wild Burro nines remain open this summer and our main focus has been to improve the overall consistency of the sand traps As of July 1st we

The greens across the Tortolita & Wild Burro nines are in great shape for this time of year. Our spring aerification has recovered nicely and the green speeds continue to hover around 10-10.5 in the morning, while slowing down throughout the day based on growth. We are continuing to aerify one hole at a time (fairways and tees) in hopes of gaining some recovery once the monsoon season begins. Thanks for your patience during the summer as we work through improving the daily condition with only 18 holes open and available.

I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer and has been able to get out of Tucson and beat the heat from time to time With temps now well into the triple digits, we are certainly seeing a lot more openings on the tee sheet during the week This is a great time of year to get out on the course and work on your game and try to hit multiple shots into some of these holes without worrying about holding up play

While you are playing drop an extra ball or two and perhaps try some shots you would not under normal competitive circumstances You may find that you are leaving a few shots out on the course by not being more aggressive on some holes Another great game to play (assuming you are not holding up play) is to play two balls and play the worst shot of the two Yes, that means you have to make that 4-footer twice! It is a great way to work on your short game and sharpen your skills for the upcoming season

June was a rather light month of Member events, however we did host a Member/Staff event (quickly becoming our most popular event) as well as a new event for 2023, The Men’s 2-Ball Challenge

Our newest event on the schedule was the Men’s 2-Ball Challenge This consisted of teams of two playing 3 different formats over the course of 18-holes to determine the champions This was a very well attended event, and we plan to roll a few more out just like it over the course of the summer Below are the results:

1st Place – Dan Ice and Sean Casey

2nd Place – Charlie Goodwin and Pat Lucey

3rd Place – Kent Gross and Jim Farmer

Our Member/Staff events consist of a group of four members playing a Step-Aside Scramble with one of our staff Members. These are a ton of fun and a great way to spend time with staff that perhaps you haven’t played with before or even met before. These are very laid back events, where all skill levels can enjoy great camaraderie and competition We hosted our event on Thursday the 22nd and had 28 Members turn out to play Below are the results:

1st Place- Rich Anemone, Pat Lucey, Dan Ice, Charlie Goodwin- Josh Johnson’s team

2nd Place- Jim Smith, Steve Griffith, Eve McDermott, Deborah Donchess- Keenan Holt’s team

3rd Place- Vinnie Abucewicz, David Murlette, Eileen Vollaro, Alison Nidever- Matt Nuechterlein’s team

Congrats to everyone who placed in these two events and thank you to all of our Members who participated.

Pickle-icious Jingle Jam

On December 1-3 The Gallery Sports Club will host a fun and memorable event that combines the enjoyment of Pickleball with the spirit of giving back to the community! The Pickle-icious Jingle Jam is a three-day holiday Pickleball Fundraiser benefiting We Care Tucson.

The event is designed for both recreational as well as competitive players. We Care Tucson is dedicated to providing computer technology and medical equipment to those in need. By participating in this event, you directly contribute to this noble mission and help transform lives.

FOOD & BEVERAGE RECIPE OF THE MONTH: CLASSIC DEVILED EGGS

Ingredients:

6 large eggs

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish

1 teaspoon prepared mustard

1/8 teaspoon salt

Dash of pepper

Garnish: paprika

Steps:

1.Boil eggs. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan; add water to depth of 3 inches Bring to a boil; cover, remove from heat, and let stand 15 minutes

2. Chill eggs. Immediately drain and fill the saucepan with cold water and ice.

3. Peel eggs. Firmly tap each egg on the counter until cracks form all over the shell Peel under cold running water

4. Make deviled egg filling. Cut eggs in half lengthwise, and carefully remove yolks. Mash yolks with mayonnaise. Add mustard, relish, salt, and pepper Stir well

5 Fill eggs Spoon egg yolk mixture into egg whites. Garnish with paprika, if desired.

Children will receive world class golf and tennis lessons from our expert professionals, open swim in our state of the art pool, and have FUN all day long! Register here.

If you would like assistance with a pool umbrella, please ask the front desk to help. We will be leaving the umbrellas down due to the monsoons and windstorms that sometimes take us by surprise.
