PAGE 2 WELCOME GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Dear Members, As I write, we are finishing our 8 months of 2022 here at Carolina Trace Country Club. The club’s signature annual events that define this beautiful time are just ahead of us as we look to improve the golf courses, menus, reservations, and member programming “Where were you in 72?” “Taking a break at the Lake” Here at the CTCC, we pride ourselves on being our members' home away from home All the services we offer, and all the programs we provide, are centered on the idea that we are all members of one big family with a shared passion for Carolina Trace and the Sanford Community This idea of family and community is so integral to the CTCC club culture that we have woven it into our everyday guidance for enhancing our member experiences We will continue to celebrate our 50th Anniversary over Labor Day Weekend beginning with Concert on the Lake Saturday with Amanda Peach, Hot Dogs, and Koozies on Sunday at the Pool, and our Labor Day Celebration Scramble with Elvis highlighting the Member’s BBQ and awards I am looking forward to bringing back “Coffee with the GM”, and “Play with the Pros” along with our “New Member Mixers” Thank you for your membership at Carolina Trace Country Club Thank you again to all our departments. We appreciate their dedication to serving our members. Mr. & Mrs. Travis

MEMBERSPOTLIGHT PAGE 6

For our Member spotlight this month, we have David and Maureen Travis! They are both avid golfers who moved to Carolina Trace in 2016, for the climate of the Carolinas and year round golf appealed to them A fun fact about Maureen is she organizes the LBG, which stands for the Ladies Beginner Golf Association This is a nine hole social group that is made up of friendships and shared love for the game The Ladies Beginner Golf Association members can also be found enjoying lunch every Thursday together in the Jones Pub, so if you are a lady getting into golf please let us introduce you to Mrs. Travis. David Travis is a frequent player in our Men`s Golf Association, where he enjoys friendly competitive play. One thing that stands out to us is his work ethic toward the game, for he has built his own training aids to make the most out of his practice time. David has an engineering background, which we have seen in action over the years of him being a member here The beautiful golf bag stand that you will see when entering the clubhouse was built by Mr Travis, and he even took the time to install wheels on the bottom for quick and easy transportation David and Maureen have stated they love the people of Carolina Trace and frequently take trips to Cherokee and the beach together. When they are away from the golf course, they enjoy boating in their pontoon on Lake Trace. David and Maureen are also very involved in the community, as he was the president of the North Shore POA, and she was the Secretary. We are grateful to have members like David and Maureen. Also, if you see them in the clubhouse wish them a happy belated birthday, as they were both born in August!

PRO SHOP UPDATE

At Carolina Trace fitness is a community, improves all-around physical and mental health, and embraces something new.

Members are going about their health journeys in ways that work for themselves, your journey and choices to achieve your goals are up to you!

Did you know a recent study showed that exercise, good sleep, and a healthy, balanced diet not only can improve the body’s physical ability or weight maintenance, but also the brain! That’s right, exercising can help improve cognitive ability, and encourage the brain's networks to function optimally This included things such as memory and retaining information, alertness, exhibiting self control, and performing daily tasks Achieving these benefits does not require high intensity movements or a large investment of time, you can do simpler, low impact activities such as walking, gardening, yoga, active stretching, chair workouts, and swimming Also, you can achieve positive effects by aiming for thirty minutes a day of movement, either with one 30 minute activity or by breaking things up into 10 or 15 minute increments It’s up to you!

Fitness Tip: What you eat before and after a workout, a fitness class, or movement, greatly impacts your energy, weight management, brain function, and fitness goals No matter what you are aiming to achieve with fitness feeling better, weight loss or gain, muscle growth, longevity, etc food matters and can make the difference Try to consume a small meal or snack, 45 60 minutes before movement, this provides the body with energy to burn, and the muscles and brain to function efficiently Some examples include a banana with peanut butter, a serving of oatmeal, fresh fruit, a smoothie, a serving of granola or trail mix, avocado toast, or mixed vegetables with rice Keep it interesting and intentional!

Currently, ten classes are offered weekly, offering a variety to choose from; on the horizon, we’ll be introducing events and informative clinics targeting multiple health topics. With CTCC Fitness your best interest comes first

COACH'S CORNER

What does fitness mean to you?

August proved to be hot as expected but managed to slip in a cooler week to enjoy some great golf with spectacular conditions Carolina Trace! We are approaching one of the best seasons for golf as fairways are full, greens are fast and smooth, and unfortunately, thick rough comes along with those great conditions but make the game what it is Tip of the Month: When you find yourself in the deep rough, try this setup and it will help get more club on the ball Approach the ball as you normally do, but approach it with your hands a little bit “choked down“ on the grip An inch or an inch and a half Then, once you are set up in your ready to go position hold the club at its full length and not choked
