COURSE MAINTENANCE
John Freeman
Hopefully, as I am writing this newsletter, we ar nearing the end of one of the hottest summers i history September is normally a time we appre cooler temperatures and occasional showers T would truly be a godsend.
Our Maintenance Team has worked hard since the first aerification dates in June. Our goals were to remove as much thatch and grain from the greens, tees an as possible to enhance total playability of the tw courses. A secondary goal is to bring the U of H game area and the First tee closer to the same standards as the courses.
We are one good slow soaking rain away from good in all these areas. We have been pumping 600,000 gallons of irrigation water per day/golf since June. On July 1st, our groundwater permit kicked in and in less than 45 days we have pumped over half of the 80 million gallons that we wer ll d O August 15, we requested an addition gallons. We will know in the next 30 amendment is approved by the subsi
Cool season weeds will begin to germ September. Our number 1 concern is not concerned about seeds that germ Our pre-emerge herbicides will contr am concerned about the seed that ge heavy thatch. Willie and I have had many discussions with experts, and we have a plan to address this concern. We will add one or two post emerge p to our program to take these plants out. Norma for these applications is January/February.
Fall fertilization will be applied in September. W reviewing current soil reports to make sure the products are applied to enhance carbohydrate s as we approach dormancy. This ensures quicke up next spring.

Pro Tip to Beat the Heat
Stay hydrated to stay on top of your game!
Factors that make-up 95% of the golf game are muscle speed, strength, coordination, and clear decision making
Studies show that a 5% drop in water levels can cause a 25-30% loss in energy, and a 3% drop can cause fuzzy thinking and brain fog
On a hot day, experts suggest drinking 6 oz every 15 minutes, which equates to about 3 bottles per 9 holes

Wedded Bliss!
The Events Department was thrilled to host a very special Wedding on behalf of long-time Members Brian and Ann Garza. On Saturday, August 5, wedding vows were exchanged by the Garza’s son Daniel and his beautiful bride Elle in The Obsidian Room. Our very own Judge Ken Wise presided over the ceremony and glasses of champagne were soon raised to toast the newly married couple. Chef Cruz provided a delicious plated meal featuring a few favorite dishes Seared Tenderloin of Beef, Chicken Piccatta, Creamy Parmesan Rice and butter-poached Summer Vegetables. A fabulous Almond Amaretto Wedding Cake with Almond Amaretto Filling and Vanilla Buttercream was the perfect dessert to conclude the evening. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to be of service we were so happy to host such a memorable event!

WELLNESS
ARROWFIT
Improved strength and joint mobility
Who doesn’t want that? After being consistent with your workout routine, you are beginning to see results Now that you have made progress, how do you keep these results?
Correct posture is essential to maintaining strength in areas to prevent chronic pain and prevent injury
Training in the gym is important, however keeping your body in proper alignment is more of a lifestyle habit. Here is something you can add to your daily routine to make optimal posture part of your lifestyle.
The Super Raise
This move will strengthen all your back muscles from head to heel, and specifically the muscles that support your spine's natural curvature Performing this requires conscious engagement of posterior muscle groups such as the glutes, erectors, and trapezius Activating these simultaneously helps create improved focus on body alignment This heightened awareness of posture during exercise can carry over to daily activities, encouraging more mindful posture habits
Try
Start off with 3 sets of 10 reps. Try for a 1 second hold at the top. Watch the video tutorial and reach out to us at ArrowFit anytime!
