Happy 4th of July! Thank you to everyone that played in our 4th of July String Scramble! Your enthusiastic wearing of Red, White and Blue was awesome In spite of temperatures into the 90’s, we had 72 players tee it up in this fun format where you get string to advance your ball for FREE rather than subtracting handicap strokes Lunch and prizes followed

If you are a golfer that shies away from summer golf due to the heat, consider trying a late afternoon 9 hole round On most days the sea breezes pick up as we get into the afternoon hours and provide a little reprieve from the humidity Add to that, the fact that the golf course is generally slow in the afternoons and I think it’s an ideal time to get in a round. Watch out for the thunder storms of course and don’t forget water If you are looking for someone to play an afternoon round with, come join our July 14th Nine and Dine We’ll play a nine hole scramble teeing off at 3:00pm then enjoy dinner after golf and prizes This is a great way to make some new connections and enjoy a fun round of golf. We can help pair you up or you can arrange your own foursome. Sign up in the Golf Shop

For anyone interested in improving their game, join Head Professional Billy on the driving range the second Thursday of every month for a complimentary clinic Billy changes up the topics to suite the attendees and all ability levels are welcome We are also offering summer golf school programs in July and August; stop in the golf shop for details.

Thursday July 20th, our Golf Course Superintendent will be hosting a Divot Party on the golf course! This is a great chance to learn a little more about golf course maintenance and even get your hands dirty if you want to David will explain the science behind filling divots, repairing ball marks and aerification practices then we’ll head out to the course. There will be a complimentary beverage wagon riding along to help keep you hydrated An RSVP to the golf shop will be appreciated

Be sure to check the calendar for our regular monthly event dates like Birthday Bash, Bingo and Prime Rib plus details on other events around the club.

Now get out and play!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRO SHOP

The summer months are a great time to have our Professional Staff evaluate your equipment for wear and tear. With a little more time on our hands, we would be happy to replace your grips or golf spikes. Did you know that grip manufacturer Winn has developed a new material that is more durable than materials in the past The old style Winn grips are very popular for their soft feel but wear out very quickly Most of the clubs members bring us to regrip are way overdue During the Golf Swing if your fingers slip at all you are going to lose control of the clubface through impact, simple as that If you have spiked shoes that are worn down you can lose traction during the swing Stop by the shop with your equipment and we can give you an honest assessment of your needs.

We are happy to welcome some members of LGL, who are playing nine holes with us Also, any lady who wishes can play with GHWGA during the summer without becoming a formal member of the league A group of our members are traveling to Tennessee this month to play in the Fairfield Glade Ladies Invitational Good luck to these golfers: Jackie Poole, BJ Mott, Suzette Sweeney, Jane Walter, Pat Larsen, Mel Kimmel, and Gale Hey Finally, our thoughts and prayers are offered to Cathy Whitby, whose husband David passed away late last month He was a caring individual who will be missed.
