I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and had a chance to spend some time with your loved ones A big thank you to all those who celebrated Thanksgiving dinner at The Gallery, as well as a big thank you to the staff who worked on Thanksgiving.

There is still time to contribute to the this year's Employee Holiday Fund, a long standing tradition at The Gallery. Please stop by the Golf Shop to fill out a contribution form or visit here to print one out. This fund is distributed to all employees of the club and is much appreciated by the entire staff.

Just a reminder to please fix all ball marks in the correct manner using a divot repair tool or a tee Using your foot or putter to repair the ball mark leaves scars on the green, which will take a long time to properly heal (especially during cold weather) Please stop by the Golf Shop and speak with one of our golf professionals if you are unsure on how to properly fix a ball mark.

In closing, it has been a great year at The Gallery and on behalf of all employees we wish you a happy holiday season and hope to see you at the Club soon!

Dear Gallery Members,

I hope everyone had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving with family and friends! The start of the season is off to a fast start, with us conducting the La Pareja and our Couples Kick off event in the month of November I would like to thank all of those who participated in our first two events, we appreciate it

Our next event will be The Compadre, which will be held December 8th 10th The Compadre is the Men’s Member/Member You may sign up for this event in ForeTees or by calling the Golf Shop

The Annual Holiday Balloon Sale in the Golf Shop will be on December 7th from 4:00 7:00pm, we hope to see you there!

Rounding out our golf events in the month of December is the very popular 9 & Wine, which will be held on Thursday, December 15th. Our next Couples event will be held on Sunday, December 18th. You may sign-up for these events through ForeTees or by calling the Golf Shop

AGRONOMY UPDATE

Dear Gallery Members,

With both the North and South courses now open for play, our Agronomy team will be working diligently to deliver the best possible playing conditions and experience to our Membership.

We have made some significant adjustments to our operational plan that will allow us to be more efficient and consistent with our daily maintenance operations. This will undoubtedly result in an elevated golf experience from start to finish. In addition, we have added some new equipment to our fleet to help us better maintain all playing surfaces, with more equipment scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks.

Beginning December 5th, Members should expect to see extensive clean-up operations taking place on the South Course A contracted landscape company will remove desert vegetation overgrowth and weed pressure surrounding tee complexes and greens surrounds In addition, obstructed site lines will be re established and waste areas regraded/conditioned This process is scheduled to continue through the month of December, and we will be communicating regularly to notify Members where operations will be occurring each day

As we enter the month of December, we should anticipate the more frequent occurrence of frost delays. Although these delays can be disruptive to pre scheduled tee times, they are necessary to prevent turf damage from both foot and cart traffic associated with play and maintenance operations alike. Our Agronomy team will always make an effort to minimize the length of each delay by accurately assessing the point at which our set up operations can continue without negatively impacting the health of the course.

Good Day Members,

This time of year is a great time to be in sunny Arizona hope everyone enjoys the holiday season and spends some time with friends, family, and loved ones

The golf courses are in great shape for this time of yea The greens are as fast as I can remember seeing them the Match Play Our Saguaro & Tortolita nines are real coming into their own The Wild Burro nine is a little s with our rye grass maturation as the weather did cool down sooner than normal this fall We are expecting W Burro to be just as good as the other two nines as soo as it matures

g g g new bag stands, new dividers, new wine crates, and new Adirondack chairs. We hope that you all enjoy the new range fixtures and that it makes you all want to spend more time practicing with us at the Club.

Our Annual Members Holiday Shopping Sale & Party will be on Friday, December 16th. We are excited to spend some time celebrating with the membership and have you all enjoy some great holiday deals in the golf shop.

The first tee time is now 8:00am through the winter season at the Club. Please remember that this time of year frost delays are common, so a morning tee time could be delayed. Our team sends out e mail alerts in the morning to everyone on the tee sheet, but if you have any questions, you can always call the golf shop.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family and I certainly want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday’s from our staff to you! This is my favorite time of the year and the golf course seems to like it as well. All three nines are officially open and all of them are in very good shape! The greens are rolling about as fast as I have seen them for this time of year and the fairways and rough area are healthy and look to have taken to the overseed very well

We kicked off our Member Events in November with our Ladies Member/Member which took place on November 4th. We had a great turnout for the event and there were lots of memorable moments, including a hole in one by Mrs. Kim Klippstein on Saguaro #3! This was Kim’s first ever ace and helped her secure a closest to the pin award as well as 2nd place with her partner Tina Ice with a team score of 69 Our 2022 Ladies Member/Member Champions were Eileen Vollaro and Joan Curtiss with a 68 and coming in 3rd was Dottie Bachler and Julie Lucey with a 70.

The following week we had our Men’s Member/Member which was a two day event this year on November 11th and 12th. The first round of the event was a two-man Chapman format followed by a best ball on the last day The 1st Flight was won with an incredible comeback on day 2 by Jim Farmer and Kelly Cutlip who fired a 12 under par 60 to clip Ian Kerr and Steve Scheffel and win the 2022 event. In the 2nd flight Ken McAdam and Ralph Logan held off Kent Gross and Joe Donchess to win the title this year.

We also held our annual Heaven and Hell competition on November 19th and had a fantastic turnout from both women and men This event is a blast and we plan to do a more structured scoring format next year where we will be able to announce winners for a variety of different things in this tournament

With December here, I wanted to touch on a few upcoming events and look towards 2023:

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain

Members, you may recall that in March the GWGA sponsored the 3 Jills & a Jack fundraising tournament for Habitat for Humanity Tucson This particular Habitat fundraiser was to build a home for Jennifer Miller, single mom in the local Tucson metro area

We are happy to share that on October 21st, Habitat for Humanity Tucson dedicated the Women Build home to Jennifer Miller.

GWGA was instrumental in sponsoring and funding the construction of this home. Jennifer completed her 250 “sweat equity” hours, her financial courses, saved a down payment, and qualified for her mortgage months ago. Construction was completed in October and she was finally able to move in immediately following the dedication. In her thank you remarks she was so humble and grateful for our contribution to this life changing event.

Thanks to all who participated, donated, and played in the 2022 3 Jills & A Jack event!

FOOD & BEVERAGE

RECIPE OF THE MONTH MEXICAN HOT CHOCOLATE

John Wooters

Ingredients

2 (3 5oz) bars good quality bittersweet chocolate (I use Lindt)

2 cinnamon sticks

1/2 cup water

2 cups milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)

1/2 Tbsp light brown sugar (optional)

pinch of nutmeg

Whipped cream to serve

Steps

In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate with the water and cinnamon sticks over medium high heat.

Once the chocolate is melted, add the milk, heavy cream, chili powder and sugar (if using), and the nutmeg Stir until everything is combined

Once it boils, lower the heat to medium and let it cook until it thickens a little (about 5 minutes)

If you think it's too thick/sweet for you, add an extra cup of milk. Serve with some whipped cream on top.

So many events for the month of December, make sure you don’t miss out! StretchLab will be out again at the Sports Club teaching a complimentary Group Stretch workshop Wednesday December 7th in the Studio from 7:00 8:00AM and assisted demo stretches Thursday 8th from 9:00AM 12:00PM (limited space)

Yappy Hour is also on the 7th between 4:00 5:00pm You and your dogs are invited for happy hour on the lawn!

Our very own Esthetician and massage therapist Michelle Norush will be hosting a “Make Your Own” Bath soaks workshop on the 12th, and so many more!
