A sunrise is one of the most majestic moments that we can witness each day The beauty, joy, positivity, and hope that a sunrise brings are unrivaled As the sun rises on 2023 it is easy to be extremely excited about the future of The Club at Kingsmill The New Year brings the commencement of our Fitness Center renovation This is the first of many facility improvements that we will be working on over the coming years These improvements will complement what already makes Kingsmill so magnificent. These improvements are exciting, but the Club is much more than the facilities and amenities that we offer. The most significant element of the Club is our Members and the moments that they share together with friends and family. In 2023 we will continue to honor Club traditions and create new opportunities for those Member moments that make Kingsmill so very special. We are very grateful for our Members, and we look forward to championing the future of The Club at Kingsmill.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary for the Kingsmill Community. Congratulations Kingsmill Residents! You are a part one of the most desirable communities in the Mid-Atlantic region The Kingsmill community and leadership have so much to be proud of as they celebrate the first fifty years

The wintertime is great for on-course projects! We have begun the process of removing dead trees and stumps around the property. We have also begun to trim and raise tree canopies on all golf courses This is a very important project related directly to growing healthy golf course turfgrass. Raising the canopies allows more sunlight exposure to the grasses and increases airflow. The trees are also positively impacted by regular pruning The overall appearance of the trees improves and creates a positive impression of a highly maintained property. Removing excess growth will also prevent the trees from absorbing excessive essential nutrients from the soil or ground. When low-hanging branches are damaged or torn off from our mowing equipment, they create large wounds that are susceptible to disease and insect damage.
All our planned projects will continue to improve the playability of the golf courses and protect our surrounding environment Kingsmill is such a beautiful property, and the agronomy department will continue to enhance and elevate its beauty!
Thank you for your continued support!
Jimmy GabelDuring the winter months scoring around the greens can be a challenge off the wet and tight lies Rather than pulling out the wedge, go for the hybrid and play the bump and run. Playing this type of shot will be much more forgiving around the greens and will give you a better chance at getting up and down for that par! Here’s how to play the bump and run:
1. Address the ball in your putting setup and grip down on the club.
2. In your setup, play the ball off the inside of your back foot
3 Put 60 percent of your weight on the front foot and lean your shaft slightly toward the target
4. Make the same swing as you would with your putter.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Golf Tips for January We hope to see you out on the course!
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and married to Keith, she spent many years working in New York City. In 2001, they moved to Williamsburg where she took on the role of Director of MBA admissions at The College of William & Mary They were delighted to find a house in Kingsmill that they could make their home after many years of apartment living. They fell in love with Kingsmill's natural beauty, nature trails, and open spaces. Her son Oliver is married and lives in Colorado. She is pictured with her dog, Rhys
They joined the Kingsmill Resort in 2008 when she had more time to appreciate the activities and facilities that the Club had to offer. We fell in love with the beauty of the campus, being surrounded by nature, open spaces, and walking trails
What is your favorite thing about Kingsmill? Tennis. Enjoy being on the Kingsmill Tennis Association board and appreciate friendships, camaraderie, and competition that comes along with the sport My second favorite thing is the daily group that gets together at the Plantation for offleash dog play.
She and Keith are thrilled to have put the pandemic travel limitations behind them. Recent travels have included Scotland and Nevis and St.Kitts We are looking forward to planning more trips in 2023!
Hello from the culinary corner, I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support you have given us over the past seven months. From our holiday events to the weekly luncheons and gatherings, feedback has been very positive and helpful as we continue to work on improving our offerings.
I am very excited that we have opened Elements 1010 for dinner and selling small bites daily from 3 PM to 5 PM. Elements menu will change seasonally, so come dine with us now for our winter offerings. In late March, we will roll out a lighter spring menu
James Landing Grille has stayed open through the winter this year, Thursday through Saturday, from 5 PM to 9 PM. Once again, thank you for all the support, and keep your eye on the food and beverage operations, they are going to continue to grow and redefine themselves as the year goes on.
Thank you, Chef
Happy 2023 from our Racquet Sports staff and thanks to all who have supported our programs and events in 2022 We will start the new year by offering a full program of lessons and clinics which are now listed here. We are also providing daily updates on court conditions and programs via our new blog. Members may subscribe to receive daily postings here.
Our recent Racquets & Roast was a great success with Members enjoying seasonal oysters, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Chair massages were provided by our spa attendant, Yvette Lewis, and we had some fun mix-and-match tennis
If the weather cooperates, our next mixer is planned for January 21. All Members are encouraged to stop by the shop to update contact information. This will allow you to receive regular correspondence, make court reservations, register for clinics and lessons, and let us hear how we can be of service.
