B. Fouress (Private) Ltd. (BFL) is committed to serving the Small Hydro industry around the world. BFL strives to be the leading player in every market that it serves and brings the best practices in this field to its customers. BFL offers a “water to wire” solution to its customers in the small hydro power sector. They undertake the design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of the electro‐mechanical components on turnkey basis for their customers. BFL manufactures turbines with capacities in the range of 500KW to 25 MW. It supplies the valves, generators, switchgear, auxiliaries and other supporting automation and communication equipment for Small Hydro Plants (SHPs). BFL also provides a full range of services including design, engineering, installation, commissioning, refurbishment, modernization and ongoing service support for SHPs. BFL is a privately owned company and is part of the Fouress Group from Bangalore, India. It was incorporated as Boving Fouress Ltd. in 1985 as a joint venture with Boving UK, who took up 38% equity in BFL. Over the years, Boving UK ownership changed multiple hands and was eventually held by GE Energy from 1998 to 2008. In 2008, the Fouress Group bought out GE Energy and now wholly owns BFL. BFL manufacturing facilities are located at Hoskote, near Bangalore, India. The company has a dedicated staff of around 150 comprising largely of engineers with extensive experience in design, manufacturing, quality control, project management, plant erection, plant commissioning, contract preparation and marketing.

C ORE C OMPETENCY

BFL’s core competency lies in its ability to provide efficient and reliable machines on turnkey basis in a ‘Fit for Purpose ’package, combined with the design and manufacture of tailor‐made turbines.

They are able to consistently provide that due to their extensive experience, technical expertise, deep understanding of the small hydro industry and an ability to provide a complete range of services. This, coupled with their focus on prioritizing customer satisfaction helps BFL consistently exceed customer expectations.

Technical Excellence

BFL continuously seeks to achieve excellence in all aspects of its operations. They have pursued technical tie‐ups with the best in the small hydro space, starting with Boving UK in 1985 and continued with GE Energy later. BFL today has the continual right for life to use, manufacture and sell worldwide, the model‐tested turbine designs transferred from Boving UK and GE.

Experience Due to their long tenure of almost 25 years in this business, BFL has extensive experience in designing and commissioning plants for different hydrological characteristics. To date, BFL has sold about 170 SHPs in Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania representing more than 900 MW of installed power capacity. They are able to guide customers and add value to the project long before it is finalized. Often, BFL suggests more efficient alternate solutions than the ones suggested in the feasibility reports or tenders.

Manufacturing Ability BFL is able to achieve quick project turnaround for its clients due to its strong manufacturing capability and efficient supply chain management. The Fouress group is well‐known for its dedication to high standards in the manufacturing and engineering sector. BFL follows that tradition and over the years has mastered and streamlined its manufacturing process as well as its supply chain management.

Customer Service and Relationships BFL has a strong business philosophy of building long term relationships. Combined with their ability to deliver reliable and efficient SHPs, this philosophy has helped the company build a clientele of satisfied customers. As a result, about 30% of their annual sales are repeat orders from existing customers.

Financial Strength BFL is a financially strong company, being uniquely debt free and privately owned. They have recently concluded a decade of about 31% year‐on‐year profitable growth and are aiming for an even higher growth rate over the next decade. They are part of a well‐known stable engineering group and would be able to raise funds in both the debt and equity markets should they choose to.

The combination of technical, financial and human resource strengths, its extensive experience in many different markets and its exclusive focus on the small hydro space makes BFL a unique global solution provider in the Small Hydro Industry.
