SAFETY GATES Use safety gates to prevent your children from going upstairs without supervision as they will need your help to open up the gate. You can also put these gates in the doorways of rooms where you store hazards to prevent your children from entering them. DOORKNOB COVERS When buying doorknob covers, be careful that they’re easy for adults to use in case of emergency. These covers are used to keep children from entering rooms and other areas such as swimming pools. BUMPERS Never forget to place corner and edge bumpers on furniture and other items to keep your children safe even from the slightest injuries. Children tend to run around without paying much attention and therefore, every edge in the house is considered dangerous. HIGH WINDOWS Children don’t understand that windows are dangerous. When they become curious, they would love to just open the window and look down and see what’s there. However, if the windows are high, all you have to do is place furniture away from them so that the children can’t climb up and reach the windows. TIPPING You have to prevent your furniture from tipping and in order to do that, you have to secure your bookcases, shelves and any other heavy furniture to the wall by using anchors and brackets. FIND A CORNER Try to find a space with borders for your children’s play area as it makes it easy to store their toys without being scattered all over the place and it also teaches the children to clean up and put everything back into their space. MAKE THE SPACE FUN How can you make the space fun and attractive to children? Well, one simple way is by hanging their drawings. Children tend to draw the simplest things, it might be just a circle but hang it on the wall of their space and you will get
their attention. Try to also make the space colourful and filled with different kinds of toys. TOY STORAGE Baskets and shelves are a good way to attract children if you know how to choose them. Buy some large baskets that go along with your décor and that would make cleaning up easy for children. ADD MOULDINGS Use mouldings to create storage for books.
