Mechanical earth anchoring
Founded in 1983, Platipus® designs, manufactures and supplies earth anchoring solutions for the civil engineering and construction industries.
Percussion driven earth anchors (PDEA®)
Platipus PDEA® systems are versatile products that can be rapidly deployed in most displaceable ground conditions. They create minimal disturbance of the soil during installation, can be stressed to an exact holding capacity, and made fully operational immediately. As a completely dry system, they have minimal environmental impact.
Applications
• Erosion control. • Slope stabilisation. • Temporary works. • Retaining walls. • Bridge repair. • Sheet piling. • Pipeline buoyancy. • Permanent and temporary structures.
Product options
Stealth Anchors are designed for lightweight anchoring applications with typical loadings from 2.5 to 70+kN. Bat Anchors cater for higher loads with typical loadings from 20 to 200kN. Available in a range of materials to suit temporary (up to 5 years) through to permanent (120 years) design life.
Drainage
Plati-Drain® is an effective means of reducing pore water pressure in clay slopes and hydrostatic behind retaining walls. It can have a penetration in excess of 10m. Systems are constructed using Plati-Drain® and Platipus earth anchor systems to provide dual draining and restraining capability.
Technical support
Platipus offers pre-contract site evaluation and anchor testing together with on-site training and support. The company offers real-time technical guidance at all stages of the design and installation process allowing for greater engineering confidence. As part of Platipus’s commitment to providing a complete package, a non-chargeable Conceptual Proposal outlining possible anchoring solutions suitable for each project can be provided, complying to relevant standards. In addition, the company offers a full Indemnified Design service through its geotechnical consulting team. These comprehensive designs, which are chargeable, are covered by professional indemnity insurance.
