2027 Gas Tender

Here at ESPO, we’re always working ahead of time. With this in mind, it’s time for us to begin the extensive work for our next gas framework. Our current Mains Gas framework (192) runs until 31 March 2027, but we are now beginning the tender process for its successor framework which will run from April 2027 to March 2031. We expect that the tender will go out in early December with a deadline for bids being in late January 2025. We expect that we will be able to let customers know the outcome in April 2025.

Standing Charges Explained

The standing charge or daily charge is applied each day and is used to recover some of the fixed costs of managing the gas and electricity networks. This will include maintenance of the pipes and cables that deliver gas and electricity to customers, as well as handling meter readings and the associated data requirements. ESPO also recovers its procurement costs through part of the daily charge, which we then reclaim from the supplier. They are charged daily so that the industry can be confident of collecting the full amount needed, as recovering them via the unit rate could result in over or under collection of costs.

Standing charges will vary from site-to-site depending on geographical location, the expected volume of energy used, and the supply capacity associated with the meter. These charges are regulated, and larger energy users pay a bigger amount than smaller users as they take more from the grid. For our flexibly-priced customers, the ESPO Energy Team have visibility of the component costs that go into the standing charge. When rates change in April for gas and October for electricity, we are able to validate them to ensure our customers are not overpaying.

Meter Reading Dates

We wanted to let you know that TotalEnergies has changed the dates for which you can submit your own reads from billing. These must now be received by the 2nd working day of the month to be used for the billing run.

AMR devices are a great way to save taking manual reads. Speak to us today about installing yours!
