It’s GAME OVER! Do you love video games? Don’t just be a gamer! Become a Game Developer! In this program participants will design their very own 2D platformer based video game! This program will help kids develop their creativity and turn their imaginations into reality. Using GameMaker participants will do everything from planning a storyboard for their game, designing their own characters, creating unique environments to programming a showdown with the final boss! Your games will have a main menu, enemies to defeat, background music, items to collect, elements such as ladders and doors, and MORE! Each participant will get to take home their game with them at the end of the program. Have your friends and family play it! No prior coding/ programming experience is necessary.

Olympic style Taekwondo is one of the most popular martial arts in the world and participants can find out why in our dynamic, challenging and fun Sr Kids Taekwondo program. Beginning at white belt, participants train with a wide range of belt levels, learning the basics and technique of our curriculum based system, this includes: kicking, punching, blocking, hand strikes, self defense and patterns. Classes are a blend of traditional and sport Taekwondo training and stability and conditioning drills and are suitable for all levels.

Regional Youth Weight Room Orientation
This two hour orientation for youth ages 13-16 years will provide youth with an introduction to safely use the weight room. Etiquette and basic workout parameters will be covered and upon completion of this course, participants will be permitted access to the following weight rooms: Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Esquimalt Recreation Centre, Crystal Pool, Saanich Recreation Centre, and West Shore Recreation Centre. After completing this course, youth can enter the Esquimalt Wellness Centre with a parent present or when an attendant is on duty. Specific rules may apply at different recreation centres.
