AUTOCINE MÁLAGA METROVACESA LAUNCH

Autocine Málaga Metrovacesa is a new outdoor drive-in theatre – the second-largest of its kind in Europe, boasting an area of 16,000m2 with a capacity for 250 vehicles, and a giant screen of 250m2. The movie chosen to launch the new theatre was Grease – which is fitting, indeed, when you recall John Travolta singing about being “stranded in the drive-in and feeling like a fool.” Viewers can hear the soundtrack in their cars via FM frequency and can order food and drinks on a mobile app. i www.autocines.com

BIOPARC RELEASES LOGGERHEAD TURTLES INTO THE SEA

The hardworking team at Bioparc Fuengirola recently released a group of loggerhead turtles into the sea at Cabopino beach, tagging five turtles with satellite markers. The Bioparc team originally took care of a nest of these turtles found on August 5, 2020, at Los Boliches beach in Fuengirola. Some 12 eggs were found and after 90 days of incubation, they all successfully hatched. i www.bioparcfuengirola.es

CUDECA LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE SHOP

Fundación Cudeca has launched a new online shop, joanbycudeca.org, featuring secondhand fashion and vintage brands. The range of products on offer brings together top brands and vintage clothing items. The shop’s name pays tribute to Joan Hunt, the founding spirit of Cudeca, who passed away in June. MARY HARBOE – GUCCI WARS

Award-winning journalist and broadcaster, Mary Harboe, has released a new book called Gucci Wars – Jenny Gucci’s Story, published by SilverWood Books. The book covers the same timeframe as the new Ridley Scott film House of Gucci (starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto), but sees the events (including the murder of Maurizio Gucci) from Jenny’s perspective. Jenny was an opera student when she first met Paolo Gucci (grandson of the famed fashion designer). As Mrs. Gucci, she lived a life of glamour and luxury. Eventually, however, the dark side of Paolo’s personality emerged and when Jenny asked for a divorce, he went to unforeseen lengths to make her life a living hell. COLLECTIVE CALLING OPENS SHOP IN SAN PEDRO

Collective Calling has opened a new charity shop in San Pedro de Alcántara. The store sells second-hand clothes at great prices, as well as toys, accessories, and books. People wishing to donate items can do so at the store’s drop-in centre. Collective calling carries out important work in Tanzania (where they have set up a Centre of Hope) and helps out local communities as well (the group helped many needy people during the C19 crisis. The opening of the shop was made possible thanks to the efforts of Veronika Tye, an Ambassador of Collective Calling, the charity founded by Paul and Gemma Carr. g Avda. SECOND EDITION OF REGATA GASTRONÓMICA EVENTS RETURNS TO THE SOTOGRANDE PORT

Puerto Sotogrande recently hosted the second edition of its Regata Gastronómica (Culinary Regatta), after a pause in 2020. Some 15 boats of different lengths participated, preparing a bevvy of dishes onboard – including tuna muyayo, noodles with prawns, chickpeas with red prawns, and more. LPA HOSTS MASTER CLASS IN URBAN PLANNING

The Leading Property Agents of Spain (LPA) recent hosted a master class in urban planning at the Cortijo Miraflores in Marbella town. The event was attended by over 50 senior members of leading real estate companies on the Coast and the introduction to the intricacies of urban planning in the region was presented by Dr. Alejandro Criado Sánchez of Criado Abogados in Marbella.
