Renowned supernatural filmmaker, M. Night Shyamalan, who wrote and directed Sixth Sense, returns with a thriller that will once again have us on the edge of our seats. The film follows a family on a tropical holiday who set out for an idyllic day at the beach. All is not as it appears however, as this utopia hides a dark secret, and terror is suddenly unleashed when those on the beach find themselves ageing incredibly rapidly while at the same time there is seemingly no way to escape from the cove.

F9 (FAST AND FURIOUS)

Vin Diesel returns as Dominic Torreto who, together with his family, must face Dom’s younger brother Jakob, a deadly assassin, who is working with their old enemy Cipher, and who holds a personal vendetta against Dominic. Incredibly, the Fast & Furious saga has endured for two decades with the first outing landing in 2001 – it’s trademark formula of fast cars, propulsive action, outrageous stunts, outlandish humour, high jinx and complete mayhem having consolidated a loyal fan base.

BLACK WIDOW

» Genre: Action/Adventure » Director: Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) » Actors: Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey, Jr, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh

Marvel returns with Black Widow, another of the studio’s releases based on the Marvel Comic character of the same name. Scarlet Johansson stars as Natasha Romanoff who, at birth was given to the KGB to be trained as the ultimate operative, becoming one of the world’s most talented spies and assassins. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha must confront a dangerous conspiracy arising from her past as a spy and an assassin before she became an Avenger.

SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

» Genre: Comedy/Family » Director: Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) » Actors: LeBron James, Cassandra Starr, Kyrie Irving, Jim Carrey

25 years after the original Space Jam starring basketball legend Michael Jordan in what became a cult move of the 90s, Space Jam is back this time with LeBron James in the lead role alongside Bugs Bunny and a host of recognisable cartoon characters. Finding himself trapped in virtual space Serversense, LeBron must save his young son and get home safely by leading the Looney Tunes to win a basketball game against AI-G’s digitised champions. A great fun family film for the summer.

RIDERS OF JUSTICE

» Genre: Action/Drama » Director: Anders Thomas Jensen (Flickering Lights) » Actors: Mads Mikkelsen, Andrea Heick Gadeberg, Nikolaj Lie Kaas

Danish director Anders Thomas Jensen reunites with Nicolaj Lie Kaas and Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Markus, a soldier serving in Afghanistan who returns home to care for his daughter after his wife is killed in a tragic train accident. When a survivor of the wrecked train surfaces claiming that it wasn’t an accident, Markus embarks on a revenge-fueled mission to track down those responsible. The film delivers great acting performances with plenty of humour to counterbalance the tension.
