Layers of talcum powder were stuck to the hands of our trapeze artist. Our tigers sleep with our tamers and in five years our knife thrower’s assistant has not so much been nicked. For centuries we have been travelling, with our caravan and circus tent. But once the lights go on we are ready. We entertain you, make you laugh, enjoy, full of suspense you enjoy our artistry. Circus Modular is making its very first stop at Light & Building. Look through the curtains and enjoy an eye-catching spectacle. At Light & Building the curtains open, the spotlights go on. The close Circus Modular family treats you in a 300 square metre circus tent to an unparalleled light spectacle. The start of a two year tour, at all big trade fairs. Smell the talcum powder of our acrobats, the lipstick of our lion-tamer, the cold sweat of the knife thrower’s assistant. Our innovations are the stars of the day. Hurry to see it, because before you know it we will be off again, on our nomadic adventure.

Heart-warming geometry Modern but playful in the same luminaire. The name of Stove did not come out of the blue. Look at this luminaire from the ground up and you will clearly see the outline of a stove in the body of the lamp, with the asymmetric foot as the flue. Stove is the result of pure geometry and has been perfected down to the smallest detail. Its lines follow each other tightly and balance this robust luminaire. Stove’s special feature is the double pivot points, making this a particularly versatile and very directional spot with 370° rotation and a 90°angle of inclination. In contrast to ordinary spotlights, Stove features a very compact distance between the ceiling and the bulb housing without loss of its extreme agility. The chrome plated and matt black ring around the light source produce a special contrast and give the spot a fitting finish. Like Chapeau, Modular developed Stove together with designer duo Couvreur & Devos. Whereas the luminaire is often selected depending on the light source you want to use, the reverse is the case with Stove and Chapeau. They are available for the most widely available light sources. Their fittings can take LEDs, gas discharge lamps or halogen according to the purposes and wishes of your lighting needs.

Technical info: To keep the design of Stove as uncluttered as possible, the gearhouse – the component that holds the technical parts of the luminaire – is not always built into the luminaire. For the gas discharge version, for instance, a small hole needs to be made in the ceiling or wall to store the technical gear. This is not required for the LED version; the technical gear can also be mounted remotely, in a cabinet for instance. However, in the lower LED and the halogen version the gear is built into the luminaire.

Specifications: Colours: white or black structure. Suitable as: system luminaire for wall or ceiling. Light source: 1000 lumen, RGB 800 lumen, tuneable white 1100 lumen. All LED versions are available in warm or neutral light, 2700 or 4000 K. The beam is a medium width with an angle of 24 degrees. The reflector for the spot and the flood is available as an option. Stove is also available for LED PAR 30, a retrofit LED lamp. If you select the PAR 30 version, the retro LED lamp is not included. Halogen: QT12 – 18.8 degrees Discharge: CDM-tm – 33.1 degrees Dimensions: 118 mm diameter, 125.5 mm high. Including arm 132.5 mm high. On the track 184 mm high.

Versatile elegance We should take our hats off for this luminaire. Chapeau was given its name after its inside: it looks like Robin Hood’s hat. This recessed luminaire is available in two variants: one for recessed mounting with a rim, which makes a beautiful contrast on the ceiling and one for full recessed mounting so that Chapeau’s subtle form is absorbed in the architecture. Suitable as an eye catcher as well as for the subtle shaping of space. As with Stove, Chapeau’s big innovation is in the tilting system. When fully folded up in its shell, Chapeau is a ‘downlighter’, you can see a glimpse of the rim of its bulb holder. The bulb housing is placed asymmetrically opposite the rim of the luminaire. However, the bulb housing can also be fully tilted outwards, enabling Chapeau to produce a clever wash effect on the walls. This way the walls are lit in a very special way. Chapeau too, was developed by Modular with designer duo Couvreur & Devos. Whereas the luminaire is often selected depending on the light source you want to use, the reverse is the case with Stove and Chapeau. They are available for the most widely available light sources: LED, gas discharge or halogen.

Specifications Colours: white or black structure. Suitable as: recessed ceiling luminaire. Light source: 1000 lumen, RGB 800 lumen, tuneable white 1100 lumen. All LED versions are available in 2700 & 4000 Kelvin (warm or neutral white) and with a medium width beam with an angle of 24 degrees. The reflectors for the spot and the flood are available as an option. Also available for PAR 30 (retrofit solution). Halogen: QT12 – 18.8 degrees Discharge: CDM-tm – 33.1 degrees

Cake Tasteful moodmaker Cake is an old faithful in the Modular portfolio. This luminaire was launched in a LED version for the first time two years ago, with the potential of controlling it with both tuneable white and RGB (with colour). Cake’s organic shape has given new meaning to the word ‘luminaire’. The diffuser lets the light spill out as it were over the edges of the luminaire. For those who like Cake there will be a smaller variant this year: Mini Cake. Cake’s special light experience is reflected in this luminaire, but on a smaller scale. Mini Cake’s additional trump card is its IP value of 55. With an IP of 55, Mini Cake can be used in damp spaces or even outside. It is therefore ideal for recessing in bathrooms, canopies, pool-houses and residential or professional wellness facilities. Mini Cake can of course be used in other spaces too.

Specifications Colours: white or black structure. Suitable as: recessed luminaire for wall or ceiling, IP55: also suitable for high moisture rooms. Light source: 1000 lumen, RGB 800 lumen, tuneable white 1100 lumen. All LED versions are available in 2700 & 4000 Kelvin (warm and neutral) Halogen: QT12 Discharge: CDM-tm Versions: not dimmable, 1-10V/pushdim, DALI Dimensions: 115 mm diameter, 113 mm mounting depth.

MINI CAKE AND KUP are available in two versions: either with transparent glass or a diffuser, which does not let all of the light through. Your choice delivers an entirely different light experience in the space where you are installing Mini Cake and Kup. This luminaire can also be recessed in two different ways: you can fit this spotlight seamlessly into your ceiling with a recessed frame (fitting ring). If you prefer an additional accent on your ceiling then you can recess it without this ring but using a collar.

Instant classic Kup is a more rectilinear looking downlighter than Mini Cake. The conical shape, which finishes in a fine edge, makes this luminaire an instant classic. It might be the successor to the other Modular classic: Lotis. Kup is suitable for universal use due to the extensive range of light sources that can be used. And its biggest advantage is of course its IP value of 55. This makes Kup useful for damp rooms such as bathrooms, wellness room or a patio.

Specifications Colours: white or black structure. Suitable as: recessed luminaire for wall or ceiling, IP55: suitable for humid spaces Light source: 1000 lumen, RGB 800 lumen, tuneable white 1100 lumen. All LED versions are available in 2700 & 4000 Kelvin (warm and neutral white) Halogen: QT12 Discharge: CDM-tm Versions: not dimmable, 1-10V/pushdim, DALI Dimensions: 115 mm diameter, 113 mm mounting depth.

TUNABLE WHITE

A productive meeting room by day, a sociable office party at night or… by day a playground for the children, at night a cosy television corner for the late night movie. Thanks to Tunable White, every space becomes multi-functional. You can transform white light from warm to cool shades thanks to Tunable White. Warmer shades, which are between 2,700 and 4,000 Kelvin (the unit for colour temperature), ensure that a room is perceived as intimate, comfortable and inviting. Colder colours (between 5,000 and 7,000 Kelvin) provide a cleaner and clearer environment. One click on the ‘To Be Touched’ control panel adjusts the colour temperature between 2700 and 6500K to create the atmosphere you want at that moment or to match your personal mood. Can be used with KUP and MINI CAKE.

Organic mysticism While Modular brought home the most mysterious heavenly body last year with Flat Moon, it now brings a new, organic edition of Flat Moon in the shape of a rounded off square or rectangle. The special thing about this design resides in the fact that not only are the corners rounded off (vertical), but the sides are also rounded (horizontal). This gives it a softer volume together with the rounded corners. Both in the residential and the professional environment, Flat Moon appeals to the imagination. This luminaire is available in a square design as well as a rectangular one. The luminaires can be installed in different formats for a playful effect.

Specificaties: Colours: white or black structure. Suitable as: ceiling luminaire (pendant/recessed). Light source: 4x T16. Choice of HE-TLs HO-TLs (4x 14/24W or 4x21/39W). Versions: not dimmable, 1-10V/pushdim, DALI Dimensions: 635 x 635 mm or 975 x 635 mm

Architectural highlights Lines of light are a fantastic feature for working on an architectural scale; built-in, built-up or pendant, a beam of light through space has a magical quality. Creating light experience with profiles and linear light is one of Modular’s great trump cards. Their wide range of profiles offers the opportunity to put an architectural accent in any space. SL is one of the most beloved families in the Modular portfolio. From the widest to the slimmest, its members consist of the SL149, the SL100, the SL75 and the SL mini. The family now has another little brother: the SL Nano. This is a U-section available in 4 versions with a Plexiglas diffuser. The luminaire is the slimmest in the range with a width of 26 cm.

Four versions: -SL Nano poly out: the smallest variant. The light is visible through the sides, which increases the light yield by a considerable measure. -SL Nano highpoly in: this is higher because the gear is built into the apparatus; the diffuser is mounted in the profile. -SL Nano high recessed, poly in: the diffuser is fitted in the profile. -SL Nano high recessed, poly in: the diffuser is sunk deeply into the section.

Specifications Colours: white, black or aluminium coloured structure Suitable as: continuous line of light on wall or ceiling Light source: LED strip lights (low, medium or powerful), dimmable

NOVELTIES IN PROFILES BAP CONTINUOUS Continuous lighting lines look fantastic in a space, but up to now it was not possible to obtain the BAP anti-glare louvres in unlimited lengths. This flaw has now been solved with Modular BAP Continuous. What’s more, these louvres increase the light efficiency. Ideal for use with the Modular SL family (Sl75 and Sl100).

FORTIMO The Fortimo 1100/2000 lm for the SL149 profile for an even more powerful light output in the range of profiles.

Additions to the current

INTRO/KES50

The new version of this basic spotlight is now also available without a transformer, which gives you an option as regards the retrofit you want to put in.

At popular request, Modular is also extending some of its successful ranges.

ORIENTATION LIGHTING

In a corridor, on the stairs or even in the bedroom, the installation of small lights can be handy for local lighting that do not light the whole space but show where the walls and any obstructions are placed. LEDs are especially suitable as directional lighting. It enables you to set out an extremely low-energy lighting circuit. LED lighting hardly emits any heat, is eight times as economical as halogen and lasts for almost a lifetime.

LED-Ready Up to now, certain popular ranges of illuminators and luminaires have not been available with an energy saving light source. For example, Kabaz, the top seller in the Modular outdoor collection, has now been launched with LED. Kabaz provides an exquisite light pattern along all sides of the luminaire.

Doze Modular is launching a new range of orientation lighting with LED: Doze. This luminaire is available in a round or square shape and has a stout rim in white or black with a polycarbonate diffuser. The nice thing is that Doze fits perfectly into a standard electric recess fitting, which is found in every (new) building. Moreover, it does not matter whether this is round or square. Dimensions: Doze Square: 80 x 80 mm, Doze Round: diameter 80 mm
