ESU students have a reputation for their philanthropic spirit. In the last academic year, students donated 17,695 community service hours! There is always something fun to do through the Union Activities Council, or with one of the 130+ student organizations.

ESU has a vibrant Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Hornets can take part in intramural sports, Associated Student Government, religious organizations and more! Get published. Get experience. Be part of the student newspaper, The Bulletin, or the yearbook, The Sunflower.

Everyone is welcome at ESU. There is sure to be a club or group that will make you feel at home. If, by chance, you don’t find the organization you’re looking for, no problem! You can start your own.

Hornet Athletics

In 2017, ESU baseball made its third straight trip to the NCAA tournament, making it 11 of the last 13 years.

We’re good. Really good.

Hornet football is the winningest NCAA team in the state of Kansas and has played in the postseason four of the last five years!

For 15 straight years, Lady Hornet basketball has had 20 wins each season – the longest streak in the nation!

These are just the highlights. ESU has 15 exciting NCAA Division II teams, so you’ll always have Hornet Athletics to watch!

The City of Emporia Hornets are lucky to call the City of Emporia their home. Some like it so much they decide to stay. Right out the front doors of ESU, you will find: ■■ Shops, Restaurants and Nightlife ■■ Emporia’s Commercial Street, named Best Main Street in the USA by USA Today ■■ Emporia Granada Theatre and Arts Council ■■ The David Traylor Zoo – it’s FREE! ■■ Fun events on Main Street like the massive Welcome Back Block Party
