Schedule

MARSHALL, Texas - Coming out out of the gates fast in their season opener against Centenary College (0-2), the East Texas Baptist University women’s soccer team burst open the nets for six goals winning their first match of the year, 6-1. Two-time All-American Southwest Conference member Kia Jelley led the team with two goals in the first half. Jelley scored her first goal just 2:35 into the game making it 1-0. The senior forward would finish with three points, two goals and an assist which tied her career high, which she set, fittingly, in the season opener two years ago against Millsaps. Nicole Salom put the second goal in for the Tigers less than three minutes laternetting her lone goal at the 5:25 mark. These two goals would be the only two goals of the first half, as ETBU went into intermission up 2-0. In the 58th minute, an own goal by ETBU putCentenary within one, 2-1. But ETBU would quickly atone for this mistake as Jelley netted her second goal just four minutes later. ETBU put the game on ice when Natalie Torres scorched the net for the fourth goal of the game in the 68th minute. In the final 15 minutes, freshmen Kaydi Joa Smith and Kendall Harris would put in their first career goals in the 76th and 82nd minute, respectively, capping off the scoring as the Tigers rolled 6-1 over Centenary.

Austin College 2, ETBU 0

SHERMAN, Texas – One half was the difference for East Texas Baptist University as they gave up two goals to Austin College in the second half in a non-conference Sho match. Tied at 0-0 at the half, Austin College scored a goal at the beginning and ending of the second half.
