The Prince’s Trust The Prince’s Trust courses offer you flexible and supported courses to help you achieve your goals. Enrolling on one of our Prince’s Trust courses can open up a range of new options for you. You will build your confidence and make new friends while gaining the skills that employers are looking for as well as having lots of fun and gaining a nationally recognised qualification. The courses are available from entry level 3 through to level 2.
PRINCE’S TRUST ACHIEVE STUDY PROGRAMME Delivered from Stockton Riverside College and Redcar & Cleveland College Course length: 1 year WHAT WILL I LEARN? If you are unsure what you would like to study or would like to develop your confidence and employability skills, this study programme could be perfect for you. This course will cover topics such as enterprise, customer service, money management, career planning, presentation skills and healthy and active lifestyles. You will also study English and maths Functional Skills or GCSE and undertake work related experience which will provide you with valuable skills and knowledge in a real working environment. WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? There are no formal entry requirements for this course however you must be aged 16-19. 38

PRINCE’S TRUST TEAM PROGRAMME Delivered from Stockton, Redcar, Middlesbrough, Bishop Auckland, Darlington and Catterick. Course length: 12 weeks WHAT WILL I LEARN? This 12-week course offers you the opportunity to get involved in an actionpacked residential, a rewarding community project, an informative work placement, a fun team challenge and more. You will be supported throughout the programme by a dedicated team leader. This course is completely free, all travel expenses are refunded, and existing benefits will not be affected. You will gain a Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills. WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must be aged 16-25 and not currently in education, training or employment at Entry 3, Level 1 or Level 2. ADVANCED LEARNER LOANS
If you are aged 19 or over and are planning to study a level 3-6 further education course or Access to Higher Education programme you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. If eligible, you can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of your qualification, which will be paid directly to the College on your behalf. This is a great way to access courses, which previously may have been out of reach for financial reasons. If eligible, you don’t need to pay anything up front and you will only start to pay back the loan when you earn over £26,575* a year.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: • You need to be a UK resident and aged over 19 • Advanced Learner Loans are not means tested or credit checked • Funds are paid directly to the learning provider • Minimum amount of £300 (maximum depends upon the course chosen) • You must enrol on an eligible course • Bursaries may be available for extra support for childcare, learning support and course related costs** • Applications for courses starting in September can be made online with the Student Loans Company from April • This loan application is a credit agreement between you and the Student Loans Company. If the loan is for an Access to Higher Education course and you subsequently go on to successfully complete a higher education course, you won’t have to pay back your Advanced Learner Loan.
