Stay COVID Safe at Bede Sixth Form College Have you got the NHS App yet?

COVID Vaccines for Young People

To download the App go to: www.nhs.uk/apps-library/nhs-app/

Young people, from the age of 16 are now eligible to take advantage of the COVID vaccine.

Owned and run by the NHS, the NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet – including access to NHS COVID pass which holds test results and vaccination details. You may be asked to show your pass to travel abroad, or at events and venues in England asking for proof of your COVID-19 status.

Facts: • The vaccines have already saved around 84,600 lives and prevented 23.4 million infections and 66,900 hospitalisations in England up to 6 August, according to the latest data from Public Health England and Cambridge University. • 60-70% of hospital admissions across England are people who have not been vaccinated. • Young people are more likely to suffer symptoms of long COVID.

Getting your Vaccine

COVID vaccines have been extensively clinically trialled and tested – they are safe and offer proven protection against the severity of illness and ultimately death.

A Pop Up Vaccine centre is being held at Bede Sixth Form College on Monday 20th September. The Pastoral Team will provide more details as soon as possible. You can book a slot for the Pop Up Vaccine centre by visiting the following link: www.picktime.com/ hartlepoolandstocktonhealth or you can speak with your course tutor for further details. Don’t worry if you can’t make it or aren’t at college that day, Tees Valley Clinical Commissioning Group has collated details of all vaccine centres across the region and details can be found at: https:// teesvalleyccg.nhs.uk/where-and-when-you-canyou-get-a-walk-in-covid-19-jab-in-tees-valley-3/ The link often changes, and therefore if there is an issue, you can Google ‘Where can I get a covid vaccine in the Tees Valley’ to find the website. Or you can book via the NHS website: www.nhs. uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirusvaccination/book-coronavirusvaccination/ All vaccination centres are managed by the NHS and the college has no access to any of your related personal data or test results.

Our Students Student health and well-being is one of our highest priorities. We are working hard to make sure you are READY to learn, RESPECTFUL of others in your community and are able to study in a SAFE environment. Here’s our approach to COVID RISK REDUCTION:

MASK

Face coverings have been proven to be effective in reducing the transfer of the COVID virus – it’s a great idea to wear one in busy or enclosed spaces, or when you are with people you don’t normally meet.

HAND WASH Hand sanitisation points are available across the site to keep your hands fresh and virus free.

SPACE

Make sure you keep a safe distance from people you don’t come into contact with on a regular basis.

TEST

Lateral Flow testing, at home, twice a week, will help identify if you have picked up the virus – get your test kit free from your tutor.
