A GUIDE FOR EMPLOYERS
WHAT WE OFFER FOR APPRENTICES A higher apprenticeship is a technical alternative to a University degree. It is delivered in partnership with Teesside University, and learners will gain a Higher National Certificate (HNC). Apprentices can learn practical skills with on-the-job training alongside academic knowledge with off-the-job learning.
We currently offer: • • • • •
HNC Chemical Engineering HNC Manufacturing Engineering HNC Mechanical Engineering HNC Instrumentation and Control Engineering HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering
How does it work? It is delivered through classroom teaching, practical workshops, and online study. The typical duration is 42 months, and the learner will attend College on a day release basis. You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in the workplace to support the development of the evidence required for competency elements, such as skills, knowledge and behaviours. Completion of the apprenticeship will allow you to seek professional recognition with the Engineering Council to gain Incorporated Engineer status.

WHY HIRE A HIGHER ENGINEERING APPRENTICE?
As a levy payer, it is an opportunity you do not want to miss to grow the skills within your workforce.
If you have difficulty with recruiting people with the right skills for your business, an apprentice can develop and build these skills to support the growth of your business.
As a non-levy payer, the benefits of hiring an apprentice will far outweigh the initial investment. You can fill higher-level skills gaps effectively by tailoring the learning to your workforce.
THE RIGHT SKILLS
Higher apprentices can keep your business up to date with the latest technology and help to increase productivity.
