LOCAL UNIVERSITY STUDY HAS BEEN THE BEST DECISION FOR CHARLOTTE Nam e: Charlotte Lives: Stockton Aspiration: To work with children Courses studied: Level 1, 2 and 3 Childcare and FdA Early Years
I’m so pleased that I decided to study this course, because I’ve developed a great understanding of different modules, especially safeguarding. My placement was a great opportunity and the experience helped me to secure a full-time job in a local nursery! My confidence has increased so much since starting college and I never thought I would be studying for my degree.
Why I chose SRC... • The college is close to home and I always feel comfortable on campus • Tutor support • I wanted to progress onto a higher education course, but I didn’t want to go to university
Next Steps... Charlotte is studying the BA (Hons) Education and Training to top-up her degree. After completing her studies, Charlotte’s ambition is to work with children and she’d like to explore her options, including counselling, social work and SEND.

FROM CHEF TO TEACHER: STEPHEN’S BOLD CAREER CHANGE Nam e: Stephen Lives: Billingham Aspiration: Primary school teacher Courses studied: Level 2, Level 3, FdA
Supporting Teaching and Learning and BA (Hons) Education and Training
These courses have provided me with so much insight into teaching. I’ve particularly enjoyed learning about safeguarding and the policies and procedures that schools have in place. You gain a fantastic understanding of how they work, why they are used and how to follow them. I find teaching very rewarding!
Why I chose SRC... • The College is local for me and I could study on a part-time basis • I decided that it was time to change my career and start my studies • Great placement opportunities in local educational settings
Next Steps... Stephen progressed onto the schoolcentred initial teacher training (SCITT) in September 2021, with the hope of becoming a primary school teacher. In the future, Stephen would potentially like to educate terminally ill children in hospital settings.
