That is why we believe it is important all of our students have a good grasp of the basics. We offer a range of part-time GCSE English, maths and functional skills courses to help you build these essential skills that all employers are looking for. We can help you make the grade!

Fees & Finance

You will find all of our course fees listed beside the relevant programme. Depending on your circumstances we may be able to offer your course at a discounted fee or in some cases for free, or you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. Our Admissions Team can offer all the advice and guidance you need.

Advanced Learner Loans

If you are aged 19 or over and are planning to study a level 3-6 further education course or Access to Higher Education programme you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. If eligible, you can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of your qualification, which will be paid directly to the college on your behalf. This is a great way to access courses, which previously may have been out of reach for financial reasons. You won’t need to pay anything up front and you will only start to pay back the loan when you earn over £27,295 a year.

Things you need to know:

• You need to be a UK resident and aged over 19

• Advanced Learner Loans are not means tested or credit checked

• Funds are paid directly to the learning provider

• Minimum amount of £300 (maximum depends upon the course chosen)

• You must enrol on an eligible course

• Bursaries may be available for extra support for childcare, learning support and course related costs

• Applications for courses starting in September can be made online with the Student Loans Company once you receive your Learning and Funding Information letter from the college

• This loan application is a credit agreement between you and the Student Loans Company

If the loan is for an Access to Higher Education course and you subsequently go on to successfully complete a higher education course, you won’t have to pay back your Advanced Learner Loan.

If you would like further information or require support when applying for your Advanced Learner Loan, please visit the Student Services Hub at your college site or email studentfinance@the-etc.ac.uk.

“I previously attended Redcar and Cleveland College to study the Level 3 in Electrical Installations. I was shown the engineering facilities in the HE centre and from there knew I wanted to study a HNC.

Next Steps:

Since studying on the HNC Electrical Engineering course, Ryan has successfully secured an apprenticeship with GE Renewables as an apprentice wind turbine technician.

BEING NAMED REDCAR AND CLEVELAND COLLEGE’S STUDENT OF THE YEAR CAME AS A SURPRISE FOR BEAUTY STUDENT EMILY
