If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.

If you enjoy working with wood and would like to put your practical skills to good use, or maybe you even just want to learn basic woodworking techniques or more complex structures then one of our carpentry and joinery courses could be for you. LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN CARPENTRY AND JOINERY

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course covers the basic skills required to work in the carpentry and joinery industry. You will cover topics such as technical information and quantities. Producing woodworking joints, health and safety, using hand tools and portable power tools. This course is mainly practical sessions with some theory units.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Three GCSEs grade 2 or above or an entry level qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of the course you could progress on to our Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry or secure an apprenticeship.

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN SITE CARPENTRY

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Our level 2 course is very hands-on with learning and practising taking place within our industry standard-joinery workshops. You will learn how to construct stud walls, basic root structures, floors, doors and window frames, skirting boards and kitchens, using a range of hand and power tools.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs grade 4 or above or a level 1 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After you have completed this course, you could progress on to our Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry or continue learning by securing yourself an apprenticeship.

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN SITE CARPENTRY

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Building on the skills developed at level 2 you will construct more complex structures including a range of roof structures and floors. Our level 3 course combines both theory and practical sessions within our industry standard workshops.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs grades 4 or above including English and maths and a level 2 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course you could enter employment or progress on to our construction related higher education courses.
