In the digital age, we are spending more and more time online. There is a growing need for people who have the relevant skills to produce content to inform and entertain the public in the digital marketplace. Working in the creative media industry is an exciting and vibrant career choice, with a range of roles in everything from web design through to content writing.

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE FOR IT USERS – MEDIA

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This introductory course will teach you a range of basic skills ready for a career in the creative industry. You will learn about professional standards, the expectations of the industry, conceptual understanding of the uses of creative media and how to apply media practice to express your ideas to a range of audiences. You will also complete a work placement and take part in our enrichment programme.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs grade 2 or above or an entry level qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course you could progress onto our Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media.

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN CREATIVE MEDIA

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course will enhance skills such as photography, digital graphics, animation and games creation as well as print publishing – including 3D printing. It will include units such as enhancing digital media content, pitching advertising concepts and developing a digital media portfolio. You will undertake a range of exciting projects throughout the course that are based on realistic workplace situations using specialist software. You will work with real clients and industry standard software. You will also complete a work placement and take part in our enrichment programme.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs grade 3 or above or a level 1 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course, you could look to secure an apprenticeship, progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media or enter employment.

If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN DIGITAL MEDIA

2 YEARS

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Our level 3 course will help you to understand how interactive multimedia products are used and learn how to design, create and test an interactive product. You will learn about photography for digital media products, comics and graphic novel storytelling, digital animation, 3D digital modelling, games development and graphic design for digital media products. You will explore the different techniques used to produce animations or gain practical skills in games development by planning and producing a functional level of a new computer game.

Four GCSEs grade 4 or above or a level 2 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course, you could look to secure an apprenticeship, progress on to a creative media related higher education course or enter employment.
