LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN BRICKLAYING

Course length: 1 year

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course will help you to build a strong career for yourself. You will learn basic bricklaying skills such as how to construct brick and block walling, constructing cavity walls, setting out for basic masonry and mixing construction materials.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

3 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above or an entry level qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course you could progress on to our Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying or secure an apprenticeship.

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN BRICKLAYING

Course length: 1 year

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Developing your skills from level 1 you will learn more complex skills, knowledge and behaviours such as learning about safe working practices, quantities, communication with others, building structural and decorative brickwork, repair and maintenance of masonry structures and building complex masonry structures.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

4 GCSEs grade 3/D or above or a level 1 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Progression is available on to our Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying where you will continue to develop your skills or by securing yourself

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN BRICKLAYING

Course length: 1 year

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Our level 3 course builds on knowledge and skills developed at level 1 and 2 where you will learn about health and safety in the construction industry, how to complete complex repairs and maintenance of masonry and construct radial and battered brickwork. You will also develop knowledge and skills of constructing fire places and chimneys and how to organise, plan and price construction work which are a great set of skills if you are looking to become self-employed.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

4 GCSEs grade 4/C or above including English and maths and a level 2 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course you could enter employment as a bricklayer or progress on an apprenticeship.
