A short course can be a great choice if you’re looking to upskill in your current role, learn a new hobby, or if you’re considering a career change. With flexible options across the two sites, designed specifically to work around busy lives, we aim to provide you with the relevant skills employers are looking for.

Innersummit is a leading provider of employer focused training solutions that empower individuals and organisations to achieve their full potential. Offering delivery in sites in Newcastle and Billingham (through Bede Sixth Form College), Innersummit boasts a flexible delivery model for courses including face-to-face, remote, and blended learning, so that the individual is truly at the heart of our provision.
Professional Services offer, delivered through Innersummit, is a great option for those looking for practical skills to be used within the workplace, as many of these courses have been developed with sector specialists, to ensure you come out with the relevant skills for modern day industries. This guide contains a variety of courses within professional services, offered across all of our sites, including Bede Sixth Form College in Billingham.
Campus Life
Learning Resource Centres
All our adult students can access our learning resource centres at Stockton Riverside College and Redcar and Cleveland College. Both have an extensive range of learning materials to support your studies, along with a variety of ICT facilities. Our LRC (Learning Resource Centre) teams are also on hand to offer support.
VLE
We offer all students use of the virtual learning environment (VLE), helping you to communicate with tutors, as well as providing access to course materials. The VLE can be accessed both on campus and remotely, helping you to complete your studies, wherever you are.
Leisure Facilities
As a student you will have access to our leisure facilities across all our sites, this includes refectories, a restaurant, hair and beauty salons and free access to our sport and gym facilities.
Technology
Our sites have some of the most advanced technology to help meet the demands of your course. This includes enhanced ICT facilities and industry-standard equipment relevant to your field of study.
3G Football Pitch
Our all-weather 3G football pitch at Redcar and Cleveland College was launched in July 2021 and is the ideal training facility for college students and the wider community!
Early Years
The Early Years and Education department at Stockton Riverside College now has a dedicated practice suite with facilities to support your development in a real-life work environment! This exciting new area will have specialised early years resources and equipment to support your progress in practice. It also includes an assisting teaching area which mirrors a real-life classroom.
Motor Vehicle
Relocating to the second building at Stockton Riverside College, our fully operational motor vehicle workshop has also been upgraded with the latest tools and machinery. Our students get to learn their trade working on cars with some of the latest kit in vehicle technology. The workshop has two car lifts, dedicated bays, an electric car rig and so much more!
Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy
Our hair and beauty salons at Stockton Riverside College have undergone a complete transformation to provide an exclusive commercial environment with a relaxing atmosphere for clients. Relocating to our main building along with their personal reception area, the salons are at the forefront of current trends in the industry and equipped with the latest equipment and technologies!
As one of our students, you’ll get the chance to work in these incredible commercial-grade salons on real clients! Providing everything from creative colouring and cutting, electrical body and facial massage, laser hair removal and various nail treatments including nail extensions. Distance Learning
At Redcar and Cleveland College and Stockton Riverside College we offer a variety of FREE* level 2 courses, that you can study from the comfort of your own home! So whether you are looking to learn something new, boost your CV or upskill in your current role, we have the course for you.
Distance learning is a great way to develop new skills! With flexible courses in a range of subjects, you can study at a time that suits you, and work around your other commitments. Studying a distance learning course can enhance your CV and demonstrate to employers that you are proactive about your personal development.
All of our level 3 distance learning courses are £811; however, you can study for free if any of the following applies:
• You are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification
• You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023)
• You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed
You must currently live in the Tees Valley area to qualify for any of the above funding. If none of the above applies to you, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company.

SEND/EHCP

Learning Support
Our Learning Support Team is dedicated to making sure our learners receive a support interview and make sure the appropriate support is put in place. Our aim is to make sure our learners are respected and cared for as individuals and are encouraged and supported to reach their potential at all times. Learning support services include support for students that are visually impaired, have a hearing impairment, those with mobility issues, dyslexia or any learning or physical difficulty and/or disability.
Fees and Finance
Advanced Learner Loans
If you are aged 19 or over and are planning to study a level 3-6 further education course or access to higher education programme you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. If eligible, you can apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of your qualification, which will be paid directly to the college on your behalf. This is a great way to access courses, which previously may have been out of reach for financial reasons. You won’t need to pay anything up front and you will only start to pay back the loan when you earn over £25,000 a year.
Things you need to know:
• You need to be a UK resident and aged over 19
• Advanced Learner Loans are not means tested or credit checked
• Funds are paid directly to the learning provider
• Minimum amount of £300 (maximum depends upon the course chosen)
• You must enrol on an eligible course
• Bursaries may be available for extra support for childcare, learning support and course related costs
• Applications for courses starting in September can be made online with the Student Loans Company once you receive your Learning and Funding Information letter from the college
• This loan application is a credit agreement between you and the Student Loans Company
If the loan is for an Access to Higher Education course and if you subsequently go on to successfully complete a higher education course, you won’t have to pay back your Advanced Learner Loan.

Free Distance Learning
Not only are all our distance learning courses a convenient way to study, but most courses are also free!
Lifetime Skills Guarantee
If you’re aged 19 plus and interested in returning to college to achieve a level 3 qualification, you could be eligible to study a level 3 course for free as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee.
Free Level 2 and 3
If you are aged between 19 and 23 and do not already have a full level 2 or level 3 qualification you could study one for free. Alternatively, if you need to study an entry/ level 1 course as an essential progression step to your first full level 2 course, this may also be free.
GCSE English and Maths
All GCSE and Functional Skills maths and English courses are free to adults aged 19 plus who do not already hold a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and maths.

Etc. Prince’s Trust
PRINCE’S TRUST TEAM PROGRAMME
The Prince’s Trust TEAM programme is a 12week personal development course aimed at young people aged 16-25 who are currently unemployed. The Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills is available at Levels E3, L1 and L2.
Team is offered at a variety of centres throughout the North East including Stockton, Middlesbrough/Redcar, Bishop Auckland, and Darlington.
PRINCE’S TRUST ACHIEVE PROGRAMME
This year-long course is for young people aged 16-18 who are unsure of what vocational area to progress on to or may need to develop their confidence to enable them to progress.
The course includes a Prince’s Trust Certificate in Personal Development and Employability at E3, L1 or L2, two days per week on work placement from January, and maths and English functional skills or GCSE.
Achieve is offered at Redcar and Cleveland College and Stockton Riverside College.

With over 45 years of experience in training for the engineering sector, NETA Training has an enviable reputation for quality courses. NETA offers a wide range of commercial courses including, Gas Safety, CompEx, Scaffolding and many more, delivered by industry-experienced professionals.
NETA has expanded its Tees Valley coverage and also operates from Redcar and Cleveland College as well as from its existing sites in Portrack, Stockton-on-Tees.

Please visit the college website, select your chosen course and click ‘Apply Now’. You will be directed to our online application form to complete your application.
2. Attend an Interview
After we have received your application, you will be invited for an interview. To help guide you to the appropriate level of learning we will assess your current skill levels, previous qualifications and experience. Please note, for some courses you will need to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
3. Receive an Offer
Following your interview, we will let you know whether you have a conditional or unconditional offer.
4. Enrol
