I love the course I am on as it has opened so many doors for me and it is very interesting. There are many positives to being at NETA including the incredible friendly staff.
INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING Engineering has historically been thought of as a male dominated industry but each academic year NETA has a steady flow of interest from female learners wishing to enrol on either a full-time course or apprenticeship training. The engineering industry is always looking for more females with the right skills and
adaptability and here at NETA that is what we aim to achieve. From your initial enrolment down to the completion of your qualification, you will be fully supported by our dedicated instructors who all have real industry experience. If you are someone who is practical and enjoys technical challenges then this could be the career for you...
THIS IS GINE! This is Gine, she stands for Gender Innovation in Engineering and is our mascot for our new project aimed at Year 6 and Year 8 female student learners. Gine is going to help raise the knowledge and aspiration of female learners by getting them to consider engineering as a career option. There are so many positives to becoming an engineer and at NETA we have so many different options and fields of work you can go into so we are really excited about this project. We have hidden her in this booklet in 4 places, can you find her? Women in the Engineering Industry

WHY CHOOSE ENGINEERING? Make A Difference
The Excitement
The projects you may be involved in could have the potential to make a real difference in the world. For example you could be controlling and preventing pollution, developing new medicines, creating advanced technologies or even exploring new worlds.
Engineering can be exciting. For example you could be involved with the development or testing of a new technology, such as experimenting with virtual reality. You could also be a part of discovering new materials that can help with the structure of buildings or be used medically to assist in surgery.
Team Work Engineering is a team effort. Although sometimes you may be working on your own, the work you do can contribute to a wider entity. As an engineer you may be working on different projects with experts in different fields and/or people from different backgrounds.
You Have Options There are so many different areas of engineering you could dive into, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Welding or Fabrication; the choice is yours. There’s also variety of working environments as some engineers work in factories or research labs whilst others may work offshore. 6
