Student Books and Workbooks Multisensory Learning

Each Student Book is packed with interesting scenes to explore, rich in new vocabulary. There are songs, chants, listening and talking activities, too. The Workbooks allow students to master their writing skills and consolidate learning in school or at home. The Workbooks also include stickers and built-in assessment.

Scan to Listen Along

Audio to accompany the Student Books and Workbooks can be streamed online with a mobile or tablet using this QR code. This is a useful feature for teachers and parents. Audio CDs are also available.

Speaking and Listening Skills

The Student Books include topic-based units called ‘Talk time’ to help with oral language skills. At the end of each Unit, there are listening exercises in the Workbooks which can be used to assess a student’s ability.

Reading and Comprehension Activities The Phonics Readers are integrated into the Student Books and use only the phonemes children know, gradually building in complexity. They also introduce vital high-frequency words. Simple comprehension activities allow you to discuss and share reading experience.

Letter Formation and Writing Words The Workbooks include write-in activities for practicing letter formation, identifying the initial/ medial/final sound in words and then learning to write whole words and sentences.

In Level 1 there are also cards showing the a-z Letterland characters and their associated Action Trick which can be used to review the letter sounds and actions. Level 2 features cards with the short story and a review of the keywords for each spelling pattern.

Phonics Readers

This series of books accompanies the Fix-it Phonics teaching range in Level 1 and Level 2. Each book contains a selection of short stories, featuring the phonic elements in each Unit. They build on previous knowledge and are decodable. In total there are 62 engaging stories that give children the blending and reading practice they need. The stories gradually introduce some ‘tricky’ high-frequency words too. These books are vibrantly illustrated throughout and provide a wealth of new vocabulary.
