The Process of Learning is Akin to Reforging Before coming to the United States, I have worked in China for more than ten years and already have some experience in the field of graphic design. But unsatisfied with the state at the time, I decided to let myself learn again, just like re-smelting old metal. I think I am a problem solver, and my job is to find the core of the problem and use design as a tool to visually develop a solution to the problem.

WORD EX P ERIMENT P OSTER
PROJECT TITLE / Bedlam
COURSE / Spring 2020 Type Experiments /
SOLUTION
The project requires us to design a poster only by using the font itself. We choose a word and use design skills to express the feeling contained in the word. My choice is bedlam which I think contains a complex feeling, a mixture of chaos, craziness, and noise.
I use the texture of the font and structure of the poster to convey my feeling. I use some materials like dust, soot, and garbage to give people a sense of chaos and madness. I also choose all capital letters and bold handwriting effects to create a loud, noisy feeling.

Never Stop Exploring
22
YI ( ET H A N ) Z H A N G / REFO RG E
C AT E G O R Y / Book Design INSTRUCTOR / David Hake
SOLUTION
This project requires us to design a "future book", which means we imagine and design a book that will appear 50 years later. Therefore, the most interesting part of this project is that we need to choose a brand and expand our imagination, imagine what the brand's products and services will look like 50 years later, and then express the core spirit of the brand at that time through design.
I chose GoPro as my brand. In my mind, the core spirit of the GoPro brand is adventure, exploration and forging ahead, and I don't think this will change in the future, but the development of tech-nology will bring a lot of changes to the brand. It will explore the world further and go into space. I use a very thick uppercase font and vivid layout to express a bolder and stronger brand impression.

SOLUTION
Choose an artist or designer, then choose a museum or art gallery for a personal exhibition. Design logos, posters, and catalogs for the exhibition. In addition, museum magazines are designed to showcase current exhibitions and the latest art news. Shown here is the design of this magazine.
The artist I chose, Bridget Riley, is known for her unique op art paintings. She combines clean lines, color arrangements, and geometric precision to create striking visual effects. Therefore, I use the geometric figures in her work as design elements and use red as the main color to create a strong visual impression, just like the visual impact of her work.

SOLUTION
The purpose of this project is to solve the world's problems using graphic design methods. Solve problems and present engaging and relevant solutions visually. Identify relevant audiences and stakeholders. Discover, create and implement compelling visual elements in multiple media that can work together as a cohesive system.
The lack of financial education for children is a common problem in society. It is hoped that education about children's financial management will enable children to better plan and manage their lives and create better conditions for their future growth. That's why the project is called "Level Up". This app is designed to help children manage their family allowances.

SOLUTION
Redesigned Annual report for selected brands. Annual reports are often difficult to navigate by layout. The report has been redesigned to clearly show complex content through the use of organizational text and appro-priate photos with charts, diagrams, tables, and infographics.
My brand of choice is GoPro. I chose Frutiger to provide a simpler and more organized mood. The main colors of blue and gray are from the original brand palette. I added black to the design and used overlapped text and textured pictures to add a strong contrast to reflect the adventurous spirit encouraged by the brand.
