With Zoha and
Falayha Khawaja Twinnies Zoha and Falayha Khawaja share with us all the crazy moments from their childhood to date! From their favourite things to do together to the most annoying thing about each other, they tell us all!
What’s your first memory of each other? Zoha: When I defended and rescued Fals from a bully who was forcing her to play during our time in kindergarten. Falayha: Playing together. What is the craziest thing you have done together? Zoha: When we spontaneously decided to go to a music festival over the weekend. Falayha: Water surfing. W What did you get punished for the most as a child? Z Zoha: Getting even with Fals because my mom di didn’t realise that that’s how we played fair with ea each other. Fa Falayha: Touching things I was not allowed to. If yo you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of you your life, from the others closet, what would it be? Zoh Zoha: Her white off-shoulder shirt that I borrowed a milli million times over the summer! Falay Falayha: Her pink Zara summer dress. If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you y would do? Zoha: I would cut my hair short because only she can pull th that off well! Falayha Falayha: Tell everyone that she’s just an illusion and I’m the real deal. MARCH 25-31 2018

What is the one thing you love about your sibling? Zoha: I don’t have to explain myself because she gets it. Falayha: Her ability to turn my day around when things aren’t great. If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up? Zoha: I use three simple steps: first I give her a moment of silence, then slowly ease my way into talking about something that would peak her interest, and finally I sincerely apologise (which results in her reciprocating). Fal Falayha: Let her cool o off and then talk to h her in an hour about ssomething funny. E Eventually we’ll apologise to each other. What is the one secret talent your sibling has, that you wish you did too? Zoha: Her talent for graphic design! Falayha: She is a make-up guru, I wish I was as good as her .
49
MARCH 25-31 2018
Describe your sibling in three words: Zoha: Empathetic, forgiving, and intelligent. Falayha: Confident, ambitious and strong. Which fictional character is your sibling most like? Zoha: Anna from Frozen. Falayha: Rachel from Friends or Blair from Gossip Girl because of her shopping habits. How are your personalities similar? Zoha: We are both creative and very outgoing. Falayha: That list is endless. The real question should be how are we NOT similar! lol I can’t live without my brother/sister because… Zoha: She’s my other half. Falayha: They say home is where the heart is and I feel like I’m at home with her because she is where half of my heart is.

The
AUSTRIAN Adventure
By Rehab Naveed Malik
Travelling is a means to embrace the unknown and exploring relentlessly. The more you are pushed out of your comfort zone, the more you learn about yourself and the world around you. And this is what Salzburg, Austria truly taught me. When my husband and I added Salzburg to our Euro trip schedule, we did not know much about it. But with its breathtaking baroque architecture and surrounding Alps, it ended up being our favourite destination out of the 12 cities we visited. Salzburg is all about getting in touch with nature, positive energy and bringing some zen to your hectic lifestyles. To us, Salzburg felt like a more happening version of Switzerland, with a touch of Prague!

MARCH 25-31 2018
Things to do in Salzburg: • Buy the Salzburg card for the best discounts on tourist attractions within Salzburg and free local transport. This doesn’t include a visit to Krimml Waterfalls, so plan accordingly. • Check out The Grünmarkt (“Green Market”) in the city centre. It has fresh local produce such as bread, pastries, giant pretzels etc. It is an ideal place to get a local feel. • Buy the popular Mozart chocolate balls or gold coin chocolates as souvenirs for friends from the local shops. • Take a stroll across the Makartsteg Bridge in the city centre with all the love locks.
MARCH 25-31 2018
58
• Visit the Hohensalzburg Fortress. The chairlift up to the top is free if you have the Salzburg city card and has the best views of Salzburg. • Visit Mozartgeburthaus (Mozart’s birthplace) if you are a fan. • Take the tour “Lakes and Mountains” to fall in love with this country! • Take the “Sound of Music” tour to see all the iconic scenes where the movie was shot. • Take the Untersberg cable car for breathtaking views from the mountain top where you can see the German side of this mountain range. Hike up the mountain to the famous cross on top. • Visit Krimml Waterfalls, the highest waterfall in Austria. More than the waterfalls itself, the journey to the falls has the best scenery imaginable especially the area Zell Am See. It is a long journey to the falls from Salzburg if you are taking the local train but totally worth it!

Mishalle Raja Film Director I chose to go with a completely different look and paired these beautiful velvet pants with a sleek white button down. I love colours, so I wanted to add that pop of colour with a pink under vest pairing it with contrasting gold heels. To finish off the look, I carried a trendy clutch. With this look I am all set to attend any party this season.

WITH NAIMA ZAHIN
FASHION N
A mother, fashion blogger and Editor in Chief at Blush Works UAE - Naima Zahin breaks down her personal style. From her favourite item in her closet to the styless she avoids, she tells us all! Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
MARCH 25-31 2018
78
How would you describe your body type? Petite with curves in the right places! Has your body type changed over the last five years? After giving birth to my son, I’d say it has changed tremendously! But in a good way, I’ve become more conscious about my body in general and when you’re continuously in the spotlight, you want to look your best! How has your style changed over the years? I think as new fashion trends get introduced, your style changes along with them. I’ve literally gone through phases, in terms of beauty and fashion. From being extremely casual, my style has become more refined. I was always very low maintenance, w my idea of style was jeans and a cool t-shirt but now it’s more of what looks good and what’s trending. How do you dress your body according to your body type? I’m 5’3” and one of the things I stick to are a perfect pair of skinny jeans that make my legs look longer and go with everything. Dress ‘em up or dress ‘em down, you can never go wrong with them. In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here? Wearing tights with literally everything! I understand they are an essential part of our wardrobe but do we really need to wear them with kurtas, dresses and pretty much everything we own?
79
MARCH 25-31 2018
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area? I’ll have to say my tummy- post pregnancy. Everything else, I’m pretty much content with, hehe! Which silhouettes suit your body the most? Some of my favourite figure flattering styling tricks are going for a monochromatic look or wearing a deep v-cut neckline; guaranteed to accentuate your figure. What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why? Nothing to be honest, I love dressing up and experimenting. So anything goes!

Mahira Khan wins award at UK Asian Film Festival Mahira Khan recently won the Contribution to Film and Activism Award at the UK Asian Film Festival. The Raees star dedicated the award to her son, Azlan and said “Thank you. I’m going to keep it short,” laughed Mahira. “Like you said, if my son is being overlooked (because of my work)? I always ask my son about what should I say? Should I thank you? And he would always respond, ‘Please don’t thank me.’ So, I hope someone is recording this!” Her last movie Verna will also be screened at the festival on March 16.
Malala Yousafzai to release book based on lives of refugees Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai will be releasing a book based on lives of refugees. The Crown reignites the gender equality debate in Hollywood The on-going debate of gender equality and pay gaps between men and women in Hollywood gained momentum when it was revealed that Claire Foy – the star of the show was being paid less than her co-stars. Emma Stone was ranked on top of the female earnings last year but the sad part is that she would have been ranked a paltry 15th had the chart included men. Foy was already making a name for herself in British costume drama, with roles in Upstairs Downstairs and Wolf Hall, when she was tapped to play the queen but her star profile was slightly lower than Smith’s.
Rihanna denounces Snapchat over a domestic violence ad Snapchat came under fire recently due to an offensive smartphone game called ‘Would You Rather’ featuring artists, Rihanna and Chris Brown. The ad asked users to choose between punching Chris Brown and slapping Rihanna. Rihanna spoke against the ad that targets Domestic Violence victims via a post on her Instagram story. “You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV (domestic violence) victims and made a joke of it!” she wrote. Snapchat has since pulled the advertisement and apologised, but Rihanna declined to accept the platform’s apology for mistakenly placing the ad after a vetting process, saying, “I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb!”
Versace joins the anti-fur movement Renowned fashion house Versace is the latest one to join the anti-fur trend in the fashion industry joining the likes of Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss and Gucci. The Humane Society, which campaigns against the sale of fur, welcomed the decision quoting Donatella Versace’s quote “Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.” Versace hasn’t clarified as to when they will phase out fur from their collections but given the fashion cycle, it wouldn’t be before the next winter season.
