How would you describe your body type? I am skinny six months of the year and not so skinny the remaining six, as I love to eat! Has your body changed over the last five years? Totally! The body changes with age, especially after three pregnancies. As I bid adieu to my 30’s next year, I feel I have become very comfortable with my body after years of raging battles with it! We finally understand each other. How has your style changed over the years? I have always been up to date when it comes to fashion, but the taboo of not wearing certain things in Pakistan because of “what people may think” doesn’t make sense anymore! I wear what I want to now and I’m a much happier person. In your opinion what is your most troublesome area? My hips! As they say, “A moment on the lips, forever on the hips!” In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here? Revealing body parts that need to be toned-biggest fashion faux pas! Which silhouettes suit your body the most? Can’t really pick one, I love all that I wear! But my love for skinny jeans paired with a t-shirt or

button-down is everlasting! Long, flowy dresses or short pencil dresses do it for me too; on my most skinny days. How do you dress your body according to your body type? I only wear clothes that suit and enhance me as a person. If it doesn’t catch the eye, it’s not my style. What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why? I have worn a sari maybe three times only. I feel a sari only suits very tall, lean girls so in my opinion, my height would not do justice to it.

THE VAULT WITH HAFSA MEHANTI AND TASBIH QAZI

The dynamic duo behind successful jewellery brand Esfir, Hafsa Mehanti and Tasbih Qazi are entering the world of formal evening bags. We talk to them about their journey and their favourite pieces from their debut collection, Lustre How and when did your interest in bags begin? Hafsa: As a child, I loved to accessorise my outfits with the right bags (the shinier the better) and that’s really where my interest stems from – because a bag lets you express yourself in a way that is unique only to you, while transforming your look altogether. What is your favourite clutch that you own and where did you get it? Tasbih: Willows Tale from our upcoming collection has to be my favourite. It’s delicately handcrafted and I love how the sinewy branches intertwine with the birds to tell a story. The pop of green and the irregular structure of the bag really add dimension to any outfit. Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why? Tasbih: The absolute first piece we created holds sentimental value for me, and not just because it was the first. The Flaming Forest was created for my sister-in-law on her wedding, and an immense amount of love and care went into making it perfect. We’ve tried our level best to infuse the same amount of love and energy into all our other pieces. Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favorite pieces? Hafsa: There’s a special story behind one of our pieces Swan Lake. This was inspired by an illustration that I saw as a child – which was a picture of a beautiful swan swimming in a silver lake. For some reason, that image has stuck with me throughout the years, and when we were brainstorming ideas for what to create – it suddenly came to me, I could now make my dream bag! And that’s how Swan Lake came into being.

Is there anything on your radar that you want to make in the future? Hafsa: Esfir Lustre – which is our premium accessories line – will initially start with a formal line of bags, but after that the world is our oyster, and this is just the beginning, so it’s safe to say everything is on our radar! One Piece, Three Ways WITH KOHAR JEWEL While trends fade, style remains eternal and one piece can be put together in many different ways. In this feature we have three fashionistas showing us how to put together an item from a designer’s collection, according to their own individual style and taste!

T

e his elegant piece by Kohar Jewel is an ode to traditional heirloom pieces. The piece is set with diamonds and exquisite delicate polki. Strings of emeralds, rubies and fresh water pearls add at glamour to this 24 karat ca an gold maala. The maala can ays be worn in different ways, with or without the chandbalis.

DECEMBER 10-16 2017

50

Kiran Khan Actress/TV host I decided to pair this gorgeous diamond polki maala and chandbalis with a navy blue off-shoulder jump suit and a shimmery shawl. With such a statement piece, it’s always safe to keep colours neutral and play with subtle outfits. I teamed the look with a mother of pearl clutch which works well with the pearls in the necklace and earrings. I kept my hair open with minimal make-up. This would definitely be my go-to look for winter events.

DECEMBER 10-16 2017

Maliha Aziz Jamil Brand Manager at Farah Talib Aziz Working statement jewellery in versatile styles to suit different occasions is super fun! This gorgeous polki diamond necklace can be worn traditionally to a wedding but I paired it with a western evening look with all black textures to give it a subtle backdrop for an eye catching effect.

Sumbul Adil Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager, Cover Stylist at Women’s Own Magazine I teamed these beautiful jewels by Kohar Jewel with a long white cape as I wanted to put emphasis on the piece. This look is wearable and exudes comfort, which is perfect for the festive season. I’d take this look from day to night by changing the inner shirt to a black one. I opted for a straight bouncy blowdry and a dark lip. The jewellery is versatile enough to be worn with western and eastern ensembles.

WITH

MONA, ZOONA AND AMAL SAEED

Ambitous sister trio, Mona Saeed a paediatrician, Zoona Saeed a gynaecologist and Amal Saeed a obstetrician and gynaecologist talk sisterhood. From their childhood antics, to the bond they share today, these sisters share it all

What’s your first memory of each other? Mona: Zoona’s bob cut and party dresses and Amal’s quietness. Zoona: Both my sisters sitting in front of the television on these massive cushions with Mona staring at the TV blankly with her swollen eyes and Amal frowning all the time. Amal: I was about three, Mona four and Zoona nine. We got our new beds and all three of us were jumping on them with excitement. Zoona went a bit overboard and pushed me playfully. I accidentally hit the headboard. The next thing I knew there was blood everywhere and I was rushed to the hospital with a cut on my eyebrow and ended up with a few stitches! What is the craziest thing you have done together? Mona: I hacked an account only recently to join my sisters’ league. Zoona: Me and Amal loved to spy on people most of the time. During one of our spying missions, Amal got stuck in the window since she was chubby and we were caught in a

very difficult situation. Mona always played safe. Amal: Zoona and I used to spy together a lot. Mona on the other hand was always telling us how morally corrupt we were and how God would punish us. I won’t go into the details in case someone realises it was us. But we had recording devices, trackers, used to hack emails, follow people around in cars and all this just to satisfy our curiosity! Lol! What did you get punished for the most as a child? Mona: I stammered during my pre-school years so maybe because of that I never got punished. Zoona: Our parents were busy professionals and our grandmother used to look after us when they were at work. I would get punished as soon as she informed them that I hadn’t finished my homework on time. Amal: Eating my sisters’ chocolates and ice creams after finishing mine. I used to say it was the maid, not something I’m proud of. DECEMBER 10-16 2017

60

If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be? Mona: Zoona’s military blue blazer and Amal’s knee length boots. Zoona: Amal’s checkered ruffle top and Mona’s pearl earrings. Amal: I would raid Zoona’s shoes and bags! Clothes she can keep. If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would do? Mona: As Zoona, I would enjoy being an all-rounder and an absolute favourite child. As Amal I would participate in an art competition and win it. Zoona: Sleep endlessly like Mona irrespective of whatever is happening around me. Make a painting since Amal is a born artist. Amal: With Zoona I would enjoy wearing size 0 jeans again, only a dream for me now. With Mona I would do whatever I wanted and still get the sympathy vote from everyone. What is the one thing you love about your sibling? Mona: Zoona’s strong desire to help others and Amal’s positive outlook on life. Zoona: Hanging out with my sisters anywhere anytime! Amal: Zoona’s selflessness and the way she goes out of her way for family. Mona is a perfectionist and I love that about her. If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up? Mona: I demand an apology as I genuinely believe that I am never at fault. Zoona: If I am at fault, I apologise and try to start a conversation. If I am not at fault I wait for a formal apology. Amal: With Zoona I normally have to formally apologise, there is no way around it. Mona on the other hand starts talking herself, making her one of the easiest people to fight and make up with. What is the one secret talent your sibling has, that you wish you did too? Mona: I wish I could multitask like my sisters.

61

DECEMBER 10-16 2017

Zoona: Mona always has a balanced opinion and Amal is a great listener. Amal: Zoona’s selflessness and Mona is a very good judge of character. Describe your sibling in three words: Mona: Zoona - Strong, helpful and very kind. Amal - Multi talented, practical and considerate. Zoona: Mona - Strongheaded, perfectionist and trustworthy. Amal Allrounder, brainy and creative. Amal: Zoona - Headstrong, loving, sincere. Mona - Perfectionist, fiercely loyal and headstrong. Which fictional character is your sibling most like? Mona: A beautiful Disney princess or Sherlock Holmes. Zoona: Mona - Olive Oyl, Amal - Sherlock Holmes. Amal: Zoona - Mulan, Mona- Buttercup from Powerpuff girls. How are your personalities similar? Mona: All of us put our families first. Zoona: We all love to try new eateries. Amal: Zoona and I have a lot of similarities, Mona on the other hand is quite different. The only similarity in all three of us is that we have a low threshold for nonsense, diplomacy isn’t our virtue. I can’t live without my siblings because… Mona: I will be lost without them. Zoona: They are always there for me. Amal: They are my best friends.

Sana Safi naz Winter Shawl ‘17

With the onset of winter, we’re definitely ready for the chilly weather. We got our hands on Sana Safinaz’s Winter Shawl ’17 collection and got some of our favourite IT girls to style each piece in their own unique way. See how Amal Asif, Sahar Malik, Hajra Lalljee, Aniqah Sheikh and Kiran Haq, style up these gorgeous pieces, just in time for the festive season

Amal Asif Amal gives a modern spin to this little number by having her piece stitched as a jacket. Adding a belt to the ensemble cleverly accentuates her waist, while drawing attention to the gorgeous detailing on the shawl. With the metallic heels, tassel earrings and mini Lady Dior, Amal can take this look from day to evening. Definitely a hit in our books!

Sahar Malik We love a piece that can be worn in more ways than one. Sahar styles this look the traditional way and also drapes the shawl around like a sari. The feather detailing gives the ensemble a Bohemian vibe and we especially love how the bootleg pants give her height. She teams her outfit with a classic metallic clutch and tassel earrings. TEdit loves!

Hajra Lalljee Who said bright colours are for summer? Hajra Lalljee shows us exactly how to pull off a bright colour this season with her look. She beautifully drapes the shawl on one side while e the other side shows the fabulouss threadwork and that feminine bow. The Bottega clutch and pink heels give the ensemble that extra pop of colour and she’s good to go!

Aniqah Sheikh Aniqah keeps it simple in pink and grey hues. The uber cool sleeve detailing teamed with a classic silhouette perfectly juxtaposes a traditional and modern look. She gives an edgy vibe to the otherwise traditional look with a quirky bag and nude heels. With minimal accessories and make-up, she’s ready to brunch!

Kiran Haq Kiran is definitely taking away all our blues with this fun ensemble. With straight black pants, emphasis remains on the fabulously worked kurti and did we mention how much we love that fringe detailing? Kiran adds extra glamour to her look with classic Manolo’s and a Bottega knot clutch. Très chic! Hair and Make-up courtesy: Npro Photography: Gibran Jamshed

Brad Pitt regrets leaving Jennifer for Angelina Fans that have been rooting for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston ever since their 2005 split may actually have cause for hope! Years later, Brad regrets leaving the Friends star for his now-ex Angelina Jolie, a source said. Following his 2016 separation from Angie, Brad sobered up and sought therapy. “He has come to realise that leaving Jen for Angelina was one of the biggest mistakes of his life,” the source adds. “And while he’s not in love with Jen, he realises how much he does love her. Brad keeps telling friends that he’s seeing everything more clearly.” Brad would “never dream of” ruining his ex’s new marriage; he “would take a second chance at love with Jen in a heartbeat.” We are still secretly hoping for a reunion!

Is Fawad Khan heading to Hollywood?! Fawad Khan fans – listen up! Famous Indian film critic and entertainment journalist Rajeev Masand claims the actor is currently looking for opportunities in Hollywood. The writer alleged, “In light of the fact that there just haven’t been too many good enough film roles coming his way in Pakistan — not to mention any hopes of a promising career in Hindi films went up in smoke after the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil controversy last year — it appears Fawad Khan may be headed for the United States in pursuit of quality work.”. “He is believed to have told friends that he doesn’t see much of a challenge in continuing to work in tele-serials back home, and will move to Los Angeles as soon as he’s zeroed in on his first project,” wrote Masand. We wonder if that indeed is true and are still waiting for the Pakistani heartthrob to confirm the news.
