Food Frankenstein Designer burgers have been a food fad staple for a couple of years now — with chains such as Dirty Burger and Shake Shack offering heavily indulgent and Instagramready treats. People have also enjoyed mucking about with burgers, from the delicious-sounding mac-andcheese burger to the bizarre ramen burger. Sushi has gone from a posh dinner out to a lunchtime staple — and people are always finding new ways to consume it, firstly in burritos and now in weird burger hybrids. Skim Instagram and you’ll find thousands of pictures of a strange but inevitable new food trend — with all the greasy indulgence of a burger encased in fat, sticky, opulent grains of rice. Restaurants and food fanatics all over the world have been creating their own take on the Sushi Burger. Chefs craft the rice into the dome shape of a burger. It is sometimes left just-cooked, sticky and fresh, and sometimes fried for ease of eating. Also included are traditional sushi components, like raw fish, ginger, seaweed and wasabi, but with a burger shop twist — so some versions include steak meat and pickles, while others include a big, juicy burger patty. Above all else, however, it looks impossible to eat, once picked up it would leave you with dropped rice and sticky fingers. TELEGRAPH.CO.UK

Un-bee-lievable luck Hopes, dreams and hard work which started at a lemonade stand have propelled Mikaila Ulmer to incredible success. She has landed a multi-million dollar deal with Whole Foods to sell her ‘Bee Sweet’ lemonade in 55 of their US stores. The young entrepreneur uses the mint, flaxseed and honey lemonade recipe she inherited from her great-grandmother, and gives a portion of her products to foundations that rescue bees. She calls herself a ‘Bee Ambassador’ and first found fame with her product on the show Shark Tank, where she secured a $60,000 investment from the show. Mikaila thought up the idea for the lemonade when she was just four years old, when after she was stung twice, she investigated why they sting and was intrigued by their integral role in the ecosystem. “I didn’t enjoy the bee stings at all. They scared me,” she said in an interview, “But then something strange happened. I became fascinated with bees. I learned all about what they do for me and our ecosystem. So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my great granny Helen’s recipe?” The entrepreneur took part in local competitions until she landed a place on Shark Tank. Since then, she’s served lemonade to Barack Obama, was a part of Google’s Dare to be Digital campaign, and has won several awards including the African American Harvest Foundation Story Changer award. And how does she have time to balance her schoolwork and her booming business? “I work on the business after school, after I do my homework, and on weekends and during spring breaks,” Ulmer said. “There are not too many times when I feel stressed.” TELEGRAPH.CO.UK

Speed building This inventor has come up with a house that can be built in minutes, but is it the future or the answer to the housing crisis all over the world? A footage on the internet shows the homes can be one or two storeys and will arrive on the back of a lorry. Within seconds of the foundation arms hitting the ground, the walls and windows go up, while the floors and roof slot into place. Russian engineer Dahir Semyonov thinks his house on wheels is the solution to the housing crisis and says it comes with all modern conveniences. The walls of the house are lined with insulating material and it is equipped with an autonomous generator, water tank and gas supply. Although with a price tag of between €350,000 and €450,000 it seems be a little pricey for a starter home. But you do get the choice of whether or not to have a ballroom or a balcony. MIRROR.CO.UK

Reading corner

6 It might not be the same device for every location, you may prefer to keep a diary at home but jot down notes on your phone while you’re on the go but just being able to write stuff down when you think about it is key. A sheet of paper, a calendar and a white board, anything where you could write things down as they cross your mind keeps stress at bay. The pleasure of crossing those tasks off once you’ve done them gives you a sense of accomplishment and this way nothing slips through the cracks. Keep a calander pinned in your room or your study table, mark important stuff in that, make sure you take a look at it often so you remember stuff and give yourself enough time to get it done. Once you write things down, you free up mental space to concentrate on the work you are doing rather than worrying about forgetting something that needs to be done.

Write down and makw mental note of your top three tasks to get done for the day. Everything else will fall into place once those tasks are picked.

By finding places that are easy to get to for all the things you use most often, you spend less time dreading doing things and more time actually doing things. It also keeps things from getting lost and keep clutter in check. The single, simplest thing you can do to stay organised is to put things away immediately after using it. That way you always know where everything and anything is so you’ll never waste time looking for something.

Put in a little effort. Actually, put in a lot of effort when necessary. Once you’ve made a schedule, then you can organise what you have to do and when you can do it. Staying organised is not all a breeze. It requires that you work hard with recognition that when you work harder, you can enjoy your clutter-free life later. As an experiment, worker harder when you feel like giving up.

Do whatever you can to get rid of stuff. Less stuff means less clutter. Find a place to get rid of your things. Maybe give some stuff to friends who would make more use of it than you or donate your extra belongings. As an experiment, choose one space in your room to purge. Go through shelves, drawers and boxes. Everything you find that you don’t need, set aside. Make a pile of things to maybe keep, which you can go through later, and a pile of things to discard now. Then find a way to kick those things out the door.

If you are a visual person colour-coding your various lists and calendars will minimises the time you spend looking at them. This works especially well when you are in school: Dump every class syllabus into Outlook, and then colour-code every class period (blue for paper due, yellow for quiz, red for test, etc). It takes a while to set up, but then for the rest of the semester you only have to glance at Outlook to get a clear idea of what kind of week you are going to have. You can do this on your phone or with a pen and paper too.

The sentences you generate can be quite amusing. Others will have lots of fun trying to guess the secret word. Older children can try their hand at making their own sentences.

Each person participates by adding one word at a time. You can help guide the story by providing words that help progress the storyline. If stories seem to meander for too long, you can set a certain number of rounds or add one sentence, rather than one word, at a time.

Select three random nouns. Then, imagine a superhero based on the words. For instance, the words banana, hurricane, and dirt might inspire a creature who looks like dirt on the ground. Because of his camouflage, he can blend in anywhere there’s a bit of earth. But don’t step on him! He can fly around villains like a hurricane of soil, confusing and containing them until the police arrive. The only way to stop him is to use a banana. His phobia of the fruit causes him to run away from anything banana-related! What superheroes can you invent?

Everyone sit in a circle, then pick one person to start by saying the first word that comes into their head. The next person has to instantly say the first word that word makes them think of. The game goes on around the circle.
