Hi light
Father of the Quaid-e-Azam is a name familiar to all our ears and even though some of us may not know a lot about him, we all at least know he was the Father of the Nation, the Founder of Pakistan. His real name was not Quaid-e-Azam but Muhammad Ali Jinnah and was given the title meaning the ‘Great Leader’ for all his efforts toward creating Pakistan. Let’s take a ride through Quaid’s life and his struggles for Pakistan as his birthday draws nearer:
Muhammad Ali Jinnah Muhammed Ali Jinnah was born to Jinnahbhai Poonja and Mithibai on December 25, 1876 in Karachi. Jinnah was the second child; he had three brothers and three sisters, including his younger sister Fatima Jinnah. He received his early education in Karachi, when he was 16 years old he passed his matriculation examination and was sent to England for higher studies, at Lincolns Inn. When he returned to India he started his practise as a lawyer first in Karachi and then in Bombay. He took part in leadership conferences in the British-India; first in the Indian National Congress, and from 1913 as the leader of the Muslim League.
Rise of a leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah started his political career in 1906 when he attended an All India National Congress session. In 1910, he was elected to the Imperial Legislative Council. In March 1913, Jinnah joined the All India Muslim League. As a member of the Muslim League, Jinnah began to work for Hindu-Muslim unity. In 1917, the annual sessions of both the Congress and the League were held at Lucknow. The League session was headed by Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Creation of Pakistan Until the publication of Nehru Report, Jinnah continued his efforts for unity. The Nehru Report, published in 1928, was widely criticized and in 1929, Jinnah presented his famous Fourteen Points in response to the Nehru Report. Jinnah asked for more rights for Muslims which later became the demand of the Muslims as they pressed for a separate nation. When he returned from England, he reorganised the Muslim League. In 1934, he was elected as its permanent president. The provincial assembly elections of 1937 swept the Congress to power in eight provinces. The Muslim League held its annual session at Lahore in March 1940. This was chaired by Quaid-e-Azam. The demand for Pakistan was formally put forward here. This goal was realised on August 14, 1947. Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah was appointed as its first Governor General. The establishment of Pakistan brought even greater responsibilities for Jinnah. The refugee problem, the withholding of Pakistani assets by India, and the Kashmir problem were a real test for the Quaid. However, his indomitable will prevailed. He worked out a sound economic policy, established an independent currency and the State Bank for Pakistan. He chose Karachi as the federal capital. However, he did not live long to witness the progress of the state that he had founded. On September 11, 1948, he died from tuberculosis in Karachi. He was buried in Karachi where a mausoleum was built later in his memory.

Located in Karachi, it is the former home of Jinnah, who lived there from 1944 until his death in 1948. His sister, Fatima Jinnah lived there until 1964. In 1985, the building was conserved as a museum.

The various Muslim leaders held conferences and debated on their course of action for the future of the subcontinent. There were many prominent leaders of The All India Muslim who worked towards the creation of Pakistan such as Chaudri Rehmat Ali and Jinnah.

Free Xbox A police force is prepared to give you a free Xbox One, but you’ll have to help them catch criminals first. A Louisiana sheriff called Greg Champagne is offering the incentive to anyone who can help track down suspects who recently damaged private property with BB or pellet guns. The officer from St Charles Parish is tired of the incidents involving the air guns, which have seen damage caused to houses, cars and windows. In order to get some information out of the public he has offered Microsoft’s £429 (Rs75,300) console as a reward. So anyone that helps find the suspects could find themselves with a brand new Xbox One console this Christmas. They will also be happy they’ve helped catch the offenders of course. METRO.CO.UK
Underwater vows What are some of the strangest wedding locations you have heard of? Underwater was probably not one of them. But Chris and Janet Wright have changed that as the couple decided to exchange vows under the sea in the Maldives. Their wedding outfits may have been ruined but at least they got their dream ceremony. As talking would have meant taking in a mouthful of water, the couple held up signs saying ‘I do’ in front of guests, which included some exotic marine life. They opted to swim, rather than walk, up the aisle 39ft (12m) below the surface as they are both keen scuba divers. “I was hoping she wouldn’t keep me waiting at the altar — if she had been too long I might have run out of air,” said 63-year-old Mr Wright. “It was just awesome and well worth doing.” The 58-year-old bride said: “It was totally amazing. They’d created a whole stage area with a swinging seat, it was completely magical. There were curtains and flowers; there was an aisle to swim down and a big welcome sign. My big day was incredibly special; I couldn’t imagine a better setting for our wedding.” After the ceremony, the couple emerged into the sunlight to tour on a catamaran with a ‘Just Married’ sail billowing in the wind. They then changed into dry clothes and enjoyed cake on Centara Grand Island. Chartered accountant Mr Wright, from Cottingham, East Yorkshire, added: “We’ve been scuba diving for years and we thought, why don’t we get married out here? How nice it would be to have an underwater wedding ceremony.” Definitely sounds unique and nice to us. METRO.CO.UK

Crafty canine A husky has been causing a bit of stir in one town after it is suspected to have gone on a shoplifting spree for treats. Cato, the husky casually strolled up the Dollar General store in Clinton, South Carolina and entered the doors with other customers. But little did the store owners know that the sneaky pooch had actually come for dog food and treats. Noticing that some goods were missing, store manager Anastasia Polson had a look over the CCTV and was surprised to see that the person responsible was slightly more furry than she’d expected. He was in and out — and then back in and out again — within a five-minute thieving period, and buried his treasures nearby. “We had to lock the door to keep him from coming back in,” a local channel. Cato’s owner Holly Darden said police admitted it was their best arrest ever, while also denying that the dog is not fed. “Look at him, he’s fat. Yes! I feed him. There’s food in there. There’s treats in there,” she said. Police filed a mock report and the dog is now back at home. The store did not want to press charges. METRO.CO.UK
Rooster makeover Which animal would come to your mind if we said a certain animal has been posing as moving stars? Well, it is a dozen hens recreating famous Hollywood moments in a calendar. One of the hens copies John Travolta’s dance moves in Saturday Night Fever while others give James Bond, Batman and crime drama The Usual Suspects a rooster makeover. The scenes were shot by fashion photographer, Dan Kennedy for the Happy Egg Co creating some hen-tertainment. Marketing director, Steve Horton said: “Since we can’t have real cockerels on our farms, it’s great to offer our broods some pin-ups.” It will be sent to all the British company’s producers. Would you buy a rooster calendar? METRO.CO.UK

Word Origins School You all love going to school and have definitely heard about the word ‘school’. You probably hear your parents talking about ‘school homework’ or your ‘school grades’ and it it’s a topic you don’t like to talk about much. The word ‘school’ actually originated in ancient Greek times and the actual meaning of the word ‘school’ means ‘leisure’. The luxury loving ancient Greeks used to call their leisure and rejoicing time ‘skhole’ when they used to spend time with philosophers such as Socrates and Plato. The time was known as skhole and later developed into the place where this used to happen. When the word got to English through Latin it was known as ‘scol’ and later the letter ‘h’ was added back to the alphabets during the Renaissance as people wanted to show off that they knew the actual Greek and Latin spellings of the word.
